Really great - looks great, operates great - I love the solar aspects for opening and controlling the skylight as well as the blinds. Really happy with them. One suggestion: use a less dark colored screen material - as the dark color of the screens makes the blinds look grey instead of white. We have them installed high up in a cathedral ceiling and they just look grey from the inside when the blinds are closed. Defeats the purpose of ordering white blinds.

We were looking for three skylights windows for a project where we will show to our potential customers how we can bring the light into a dark room with skylight windows. We were choosing between Velux and Fakro. Both brands are famous in the US and have a good reputation. We ended up going with Velux due to the availability of a few discounts: 1) Velux was offering 40% Professional Discount (but ordering through them you have to pay 10% of order amount as shipping); 2) Home Depot was offering a deal of 15% off of Velux windows with free shipping. There were no deals for Fakro at the time. We bought three sets of Solar Powered Venting Curb-Mount Skylight with Laminated Low-E3 Glass Beige Room Darkening Blind (VCS 3046 2004CS01) and High-Profile Tile Roof Flashing with Adhesive Underlayment for Curb Mount Skylight (ECW 3046 0000C). Here are our Pros and Cons: Pros: 1. All items were well packaged in boxes. 2. They all arrived on time. 3. The skylights and flashings look solid. Cons: 1. The skylights come with two remotes KLI 110, one for the skylights and one for the blinds. Since we bought three windows, we ended up with SIX! (6) remotes. There was no way to order this size of skylights with universal remote KLR 200, which can operate all of these functions plus many additional functions not directly related to the skylights (eg., regular lights, etc.)… At the same time Velux skylights in other sizes (even without blinds) are available with universal remote. 2. The area all around PVC frame of skylights and the insect screens are full of scratches and dirty spots from hands. 3. The space between PVC frame and the insulated glass is full of plastic and metal shavings. There was even a screw left in-between there! As a result, plastic chips keep falling on the plastic teeth of the rails where plastic gear move the blinds up and down. As they keep getting caught there, this may result in the damage to the whole mechanism. Having these shavings also means that every time we open/close skylights more plastic pieces drop on the insect screens (and definitely on plastic rails, too). 4. We have also found some big metal shavings between the insulated glass and the rubber gasket – this means the insulation in those spots is compromised. 5. In one of the corners, the PVC frame parts are connected with 3 mm in difference in horizontal level between them. 6. In one of the skylights, the shelf for the insect screen is longer than it should be and was installed without any extra space; as a result it is arched instead of being in line. 7. Similar problem exists with the gear cover: the cover and the frame are not in level in the middle; the cover arches and creates a space in the middle. 8. Each corner of the PVC frame has an overlap (inside and out) as a result of soldering two pieces of the frame – these overlaps were not cut off. These plastic “leftovers” looks very unprofessional and ugly (unless you are planning to completely cover the frame from the inside). 9. There are also a few spots where formed aluminum sash connects with the insulation glass – in those spots the silicone sort of “leaked” outside. As result, I am more satisfied with the discount than the quality of the product. Next time, will try Fakro, when discount is available. IMHO… Fakro has two things which Velux does not have: 1. Fakro has the external blinds for the skylights, which Velux does not offer in the US anymore. There are very useful in hot states like Arizona. 2. In case the solar panel battery needs to be replaced, Fakro offers to exchange just the battery, whereas with Velux you would have to change the entire panel, which is obviously not cheap.

Nice product ...easy installation

We were getting our roof done and decided to splurge a little on a couple of skylights in an area that has no windows. The roofers installed the skylights and I LOVE all the light they let into this area and down the stairway. It's an enclosed stairway and can get fairly dark so we leave the light on all the time. During the day we no longer need to do this! I love that they open so we can vent the upstairs and I love that they are not too much. I love the size of them. We've only had them installed for a few weeks and we've had some pretty substantial rain in that time without any leaks or condensation. So far so good.

Need automatic ventilation for our tiny house . Our velux skylight allowed us to let fresh air in and stagnant air out automatically . We look forward to our second skylight installation

The skylights are really nice and were easy to install 6 in total. The bad was the flashing kits. Velux needs to figure out a better way to package and ship. Two of them were damaged (bent) I was able to fix one but the other was totaled.

We just love it! It's letting a lot of light in and we love the feature allowing fresh air in as well. We removed our atrium and made it part of our kitchen and this is the perfect solution for ventilation and light. Wonderful product. Especially love that it is solar powered.

This skylight perfectly retrofit my old 1980's Sun-Tek bubble skylight manufactured by Sun-Tek in Orlando FL during the 1980's. My old bubble light was cracking from age. Upon removal of the 30 year old bubble light my Sun-Tek curb flashing was aluminum framing measuring OD 26-1/4" top to bottom and side to side square. This skylight snugly slid onto my old existing aluminum flashing and with careful measuring, the self drilling screws securely fastened to the 1/2" aluminum vertical flashing frame face. This saved me a bunch of $$$ not having to replace the existing curb flashing. Look at the CAD PDF technical drawings on Velux website for precise measurements of the skylight so you can feel warm and fuzzy before ordering. IF you have the old bubble lights it will scare you when you see just how cheap and flimsy they were made leaving your house interior vulnerable to hurricane/rain damage. Spend the money to replace them with Velux skylights either normal tempered glass or this impact glass product.

I bought these skylights 3 months ago. We are very happy with them. They bring in light and help to regulate the temperature and fresh air flow in the kitchen, and they are so easy to use. They definitely beautify our kitchen.

Installed 2 solar powered Skylights in August. The room was dark, so the Skylights have added needed lights to the room. We added solar blinds which were a must. We love our Skylights. Looking to add another to our bathroom.

This is my second set of Velux skylights. The first lasted 20 years and the only reason I replaced it was I needed a new roof. I was advised to replace my skylights to avoid problems down the road. I'm very satisfied with the quality of Velux skylights.

Window works as described. Mine came with a split gasket inside the window. I reached out to Velux about the issue and have not received an adequate answer as to what should be done after nearly a month. So as with a lot of companies, I will now have to follow up with them again. . The customer service rep could not answer my question which was then forwarded to the QC department which has not responded. Seems like a good product overall but I don't know if the same can be said of the company.

We had professionals install our skylights in our new roof. I was disappointed that we couldn't add another story to our home. However, the skylights open up the rooms and bring a view of the outdoors to us. We've only had them for a short time, but I love watching the changing sky. I was watching the moon and stars in our very own personal light show! As a bonus, we even get rainbows on the wall when we put up crystals. We have the skylights in the kitchen, living room and bedrooms. I appreciate the quality of the product and you certainly will, too.

This was a replacement for an old acrylic model that had cracked so installation was easy. It’s much heavier than the old one so getting it up on the roof took a little more effort. The rod that I used to open the old one is a perfect fit with this one. The quality of this one is excellent and will probably never need to be replaced in my lifetime.

I have many velux skylights throughout my home. They have never failed or caused me any problem. As long as they are installed correctly, with the corresponding flashing kit, you should be happy and worry-free.

The Velux skylights are a great addition to our home. Instructions were clear, but we wish the flashing had been included or at least the need for it indicated on the packaging. Home Depot did not carry the flashing on a roll- only a flashing kit which was quite expensive. We ended up purchasing a roll of flashing from Lowe's (sorry Home Depot!) Skylights are heavy, but that is good! it shows their high quality. We are very pleased with the quality and appearance.

Love our new Solar Powered Skylights, they are so versital and easy to use. Great to show them off to all our friends. We just built a new cottage behind our main house and added three of them along with a sun tunnel for the bath.

A couple of years ago I made one of the best decisions ever. That was to have two Solar Powered "Fresh Air" Skylights installed in my home. They make such a difference in providing more light, air, and style. They are situated in a large room which is the kitchen, dining, and living area. The room has a cathedral ceiling in addition to a large bay window and two regular size windows. It also has a glass sliding door off the deck. In spite of all these openings, I was always aware of lack of light. I painted the whole area a lovely antique dark red in order to achieve a cozy look since the ceiling was so large. I got the smaller warmer look I was looking for, but again, the red certainly didn't help bring in light. It was only after I had the skylights installed that I was actually able to appreciate my beautiful red "castle" room. What a difference they made. I am amazed how my red walls look and how the skylights reflection change the shade of red at difference times of the day. Last, but not least, I am a plant lover and having these two windows bringing in so much light and sun at different intervals has been nothing but wonderful for my beautiful plants. My skylights have definitely helped me to fall in love with my home all over again. I would definitely recommend solar skylights for anyone who is contemplating this purchase. One more thing, I have to commend my installers. They were perfect and so was their work. GOOD LUCK

We installed three of these and loved them, so we ordered another one and had it installed too. They work like magic! Also love that they do not require electricity and qualify for the solar tax credit.

I was pleasantly surprised at just how easy this skylight was to install. It is very well made, attractive and efficient. I spoke with Velux before ordering to determine the proper size to replace my old acrylic bubble skylights. FYI: the sizes in the description are the measurements of the glass opening in the skylight not the outside dimensions. Overall I am exteremely pleased with this product!

These newest skylights from Velux are amazing: they can be operated without an electrical supply, instead being powered from their own solar panels. A built-in rain sensor will close the window automatically. The quality of the construction and design is first rate, and they are easy to install (caveat: well built in this case means heavy). The remote is easy to program and can control many skylights with tons of options. One worry, which I hope isn't a problem in the long run: there's an internal battery charged from the solar panel, but I don't see any way to replace it if it goes bad.

Skylight would make a great window, but not a good skylight. The skylight would have to be in permanent shade, and would have to be constantly cleaned. I had them on for one day, before returning them to Home

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Nice clean look and works as it should. The remote controls are silly however. Each remote does one function- so two per window. One for blinds, one for ventilation. They are also large and very clunky. Other than that they are fine.
