In my experience Velux is a good brand. On opening the box i was pleased with the unit. its well made and solid. this is a common size. which could be important if you decide to replace it later. in my case we replaced a 25 year old one with this one. this one does not come with a curb. in our case the wood curb existed. If you are doing a new install you may want to consider an insulated curb. But if the weather where you live is mild or you don't have much heat or cooling costs then the wood curbs have been used for 50 years and still are good.

Terrible Interior Finish Design - Never Again !!!
You would think if you've used Velux Deck mount skylights that have a nicely finished interior frame to blend your drywall into, that the curb mount would have been designed to give the same level of finish quality. Not this piece of junk! The glass sits just above the curb / framing. You need to bring your drywall up to, but not touch the glass. You need to leave a gap between the glass and the edge of the drywall. Not Cool!

We appreciate your feedback. The interior frames of these skylights differ in design because of how the skylights are installed. Deck-mounted skylights have a built-in curb with a nailing fin or flange so that it will sit directly on the roof deck. The drywall does not need to extend very far to reach the skylight with that system. Curb-mounted skylights sit on top of a site-built curb like a shoebox top, and site-built curbs are built using either 2x4 or 2x6 lumber, which means the drywall has further to go to reach the skylight. Excellent product! Highly recommend!
We love our skylights! We put 3 in a bonus room with slanted ceilings and they give enough light and fresh air to this room. They are easy to open as well. When we put on a new roof we replaced our old Velux skylights with new Velux skylights! They are perfect. Highly recommend!

Replacement
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We replaced two older models The new units are working well and have a more modern, cleaner appearance than the older models. We also purchased the Solar shades which blend in very nicely.

Great Skylights! Best in the industry!
Beautiful skylights! The 4 we just installed follow 2 that we already had in another room. We love the light they add to our home and love that they don't leak of fog up. The 4 we just put in are on a covered porch that's 20' X 30' and allow us to let fresh air in, if we want to. Great product!
