One of the best purchases I have ever made.
This is one awesome machine. It cut my mowing time from almost 3 hours to 1.3. To qualify this I have a lot of trees to mow around which may not be the case for most on an acre and a half. Some things that I have noticed: I have some dips and valleys in my yard that use to scalp with my 14 year old Craftsman lawn tractor(CLT). Not the case with this machine. The grass looks even all over the yard. It mulches very well with the stamped deck. My old CLT would require running over the clippings numerous times even with Oregon Mulching blades installed. I was concerned that with no brake pedal it would not stop fast - NOT an issue, you take your foot off the gas pedal and bam it stops. You may need to lower the tire pressure in the front wheels to keep the ride from being bouncy or stiff. Overall I did a couple of months worth of research before purchasing this Toro ZTR and am very happy with my purchase. Two other items of note - the cup holder will hold the Yeti 32oz cooler cup and you can drink a cold beverage of choice while driving unlike the lever controlled ZTRs.

Nice Mower - Good on inclines
I purchased this mower after returning the SS 42" model. I have a nice hill across 2 sides of my yard at a 20-25 degree angle, the SS model would start slide down the hill and made me VERY uncomfortable. This SW model navigates it perfectly with no sliding/slipping. The SS was my first experience with a zero turn and they aren't as easy to drive as I thought, but this model with steering wheel was great. Cuts great and level. I elected to install the mulching kit on mine...no sign of the grass and no clumps left behind. The installation took about an hour and a half, but a lot of that was I had a few bolts that didn't seem to line up very well and I had to complete it with a bit of a custom job. I'd definitely recommend.

Great zero turn
Steering wheel zero turn is the way to go, this mower makes cutting the lawn fun! It's a huge time saver and the quality of the cut is awesome. Only bad thing is that it doesn't have an hour meter, that should be standard at this price point.

    Everthing was GREAT
Easy to operate. Zero turn has reduced time to mow. Grandson carries the info book around and can point out all the features on the machine..

      bad cut, hard steering
Does not cut good, wheels lay down grass. Full throttle when cutting grass and still does not pick up grass. Steering better at full throttle but still not that great

      Best money ever spent
I may have spent more than I should have, but after using, I don't regret spending it. I have cut my mowing time in less than half, and now I have a cut that is flat, level, and even. The mower is very easy to use. Try one. I don't think you will regret it.

      Exceeded expectations!
My wife and daughter never liked, or wanted, to cut the lawn with our previous conventional, competitor lawn tractor. Now they fight to enjoy the experience! The model I bought did not have an adjustable seat. The dealer tried a used competitor seat to save me money. It didn't work out, so I bought the OE Toro adjustable seat. The shroud, on both sides of the seat, became very scratched up during the process. I didn't complain, but now that I have the mower, and love it, I am really disappointed, as I plan on having it for many years.

does not have enough hours to rate dependability higher
At this point I only have less than 50 hours but feel like it more than meets my expectations.

        Best mower yet
Arrived fully assembled and gassed up in less than a week after ordering! The white glove service was awesome. Mechanic drove it right up my driveway and had all the time in the world to explain everything about service and maintenance to my wife and myself. My wife loves it so much she wants to cut our 1 acre property daily. That alone made it well worth the price.

Great machine A real time saver
I have only used the mower twice . The first time I was a little disappointed, and thought. I had made a mistake. It rode so rough I was considering returning it. I checked the rear tires and they where at 19 LB. air pressure. After adjusting the air pressure to the suggested 13 PSI it was much better. I could not lower the mower deck I found that the deck was up inside the frame and one of the bolts was protruding past the edge of the frame [ problem in shipping I guess ] after prying it over it worked just fine. I will have to repair the paint so it doesn't rust. Also one of the bolts on the bottom of the seat is stripped, it appears as though a tack weld on the back side of the seat pan has failed , all that said I think it's a good machine . It's a real time saver I think I'll keep it.

            Complete Control
I have had zero turn mowers for years, but they lacked the control needed for slopes and pond edges. The steering on the front wheels give me complete control and safety comes with the control. I also suffer from chronic pain and this mower seems to give me a smoother ride so I am not so jostled about.

            Great mower
I initially purchased a lawn tractor but returned it to get a zero turn mower when I realized how much longer it was taking me to mow my 1 acre lawn versus what I expected because it didn't turn around directly. This mower is fast, easy to use, and turns just like any other zero turn mower. I find the steering wheel easy to use. It also handles hills a little better than the typical zero turn because the front tires steer in coordination with the back tires whereas the front tires on a traditional zero turn mower just go wherever they need to go. When turning directly around, one back tire will go in forward and the other will go in reverse just like any other zero turn. The cut quality is very good. I've cut my mowing down significantly with this mower versus a tractor and would recommend it to anyone.

            Steering Wheel ZTR
I love my new Toro SW4200. I have some steep places in my yard and this thing handles them all very well. It has dramatically reduced the time it takes to mow my yard.

we are having a little problem with the wash out connection. I have to hold the hose up , but can't while sitting on the seat. I will contact the dealer to see if we can get a new connector.

              Toro SW4200 Zero Turn Mower
Have about 10 hours on machine know and its working great. I'm mowing approximately 1 acre with 30 trees and have cut my mowing time almost in half. It took me over 2 hours to mow with traditional tractor style mower w/ same size (42 inch) deck, now it takes a little over one hour to do the job. I highly recommend this mower it's much easier to operate with the steering wheel then the lever type are.

                Great so far!
Just received a week ago. Only mowed one time and really enjoyed the experience. Easy to operate. Zero turn is great. Previous experience with Toro -- 32 inch riding mower that gave us 25 years of service. Why try another brand? Waiting on the bagger to arrive.

                Smart Buy
I have used my new SW4200 TimeCutter for approximately ten (10) hours. So far the ease of operation and quality of cut have been excellent. I particularly like the adjustable steering column and reverse mowing option. The areas I mow range from one acre to three with some extremely tight areas. My SW4200 has performed above my expectations.

                  Great mower!!
I have only had it for three weeks but mowing is now actually enjoyable and not a chore with this mower. It performs outstanding!! My only complaint is delivery by my local mower co. I had to call several times for delivery and they were not overall helpful.

After three cuttings, this product has proven its worth.
I upgraded to a zero turn due to yard obstacles and this solved that issue. For this price range, they should have included the hour meter. Everything for maintenance is based on hours and it's ridiculous to not have one installed on the SW series when the SS equivalent series has it installed. After installing the mulch kit and removing the grass deflector, this tractor has proven its ability to mulch and make the lawn look great.

                  I love my new mower
I have a steep yard and knew that I needed a ZTR with a steering wheel. I did lots of studying and decided on the Toro SW4200. I mowed my yard with it today for the first time. It did awesome. My slopes are more than the recommended 15 degree maximum, and I never had an anxious moment. The cut was nice and smooth. The only suggestion I have for Toro is they need to include an hour meter like Cub Cadet does. It is a $59 add on and all the maintenance is scheduled based on hours.

                  This product has great features
I find that this tractor is an excellent choice for any female that is considering this type of lawn tractor. The zero turn wheel is easy to maneuver especially for a small-frame woman. I've used it several times since my purchase, and find that it out-performances any previous push mowers that I have used in the past. It has great cutting capability without scalping the lawn. I would recommend this product to all.

Returned it due to lack of important features
Returned it due to lack of important features such as: No adjustable seat unless using wrench. Very heavy and difficult to lift deck and return to proper setting. Very loud. Very hard ride. Steering was not as good as my old John Deer. Poor customer service with Toro. Salesman at Home Depot was not as knowledgeable as he should have been.

Finally, you can mow in reverse!
I have the SW 42". This is my first zero turn, and I could not be much happier. I would be out there easily twice as long on my old Troy Bilt 42". This thing flies! Seriously, with traction, you can wheelie it. I would not let a young kid run it since it is so powerful, or you could lever down towards turtle. It handles my slope that the old pony had a very hard time with effortlessly. Also, it goes through tall grass with ease. Going around all the trees is why I bought it, and it is great for that. The buttons and knobs take a bit of getting accustomed to, but not much. The hardest transition was remembering I could turn on nothing. It is very simple to operate after the first go. Mowing in reverse is a huge plus for me as well. The cut quality is terrific. The seat is very comfortable. It is nice to have an included hitch for attachments. The deck is a little shaky over bumps. When I get time, I will probably figure out a way to dampen the effect. I wish it came with headlamps just in case...but overall, it is a very nice mower. I don't think any of them are worth what they cost, but I had to get something, and I am glad I bought this one. I have never taken the time to review anything before.

Over all this is acceptable unit.
I have only logged 6 or 7 hours on this mower. It not great in wet grass. It does a lot of tire spinning on turns. Has a rough ride, even going slow. I would have bought different if I had the opportunity to test mow, first.

                  Everything I expected
Only mowed 5 times so far, about 2 hrs per mowing and liking the results and quality that I expected. Old mower died and took me a while to decide what I wanted, so by the time I got it my lawn was about a foot tall. I first cut it on the highest setting and was surprised that I didn't end up with what looked like a hay field. I have 3 acres, but only cut about 2 and with my old tractor it would take about 3 1/2 hrs. Decided on the Toro tractor since my Toro snow blower is so great.

                  Won't Level - Very Disappointing
Have the new Toro SW4200 and I cannot get mine to level. A full 1/2 inch off left to right blade tip, the left side being the high side but the adjustment (on the left side) is bottomed-out. Tire pressure is good, I think, the manual does not mention how much air pressure should be in the front tires??? On my unit, the whole mower sub assembly is off level when measured under the seat at cross member braces with a torpedo level on a level garage floor. Took it to a Toro authorized repair center (under warrantee) - they cannot get the unit to level either -- $110 later. I work for prominent aircraft manufacturer, so I know my way around a transit and torpedo level. This deck just won't level. Maybe someone else has had better luck leveling the deck. Hate to return to Home Depot but that's the next step. Please let me know if you have any ideas. Otherwise the rest of the mower seems top notch, quality, well built, easy to handle, etc...

I'm going to love mowing again
My 16yr old craftsman recently gave it up. I have 1 3/4 acre yard w/ plenty of landscape to mow to navigate. I was debating on between the Ariens 46" or the Cub Cadet 46". I let the guy at the store talk me into the Ariens. That was a mistake. I mowed twice w/ it and it was a total joke, Transmission was awful. I promptly returned it and decided after some additional research to go w/ the 42" sw4200. I have only mowed once w/ it so far but it is in a totally different league! The handling, oh the handling. It ran like a champ and It literally was a time saver. Only Con might be size. I am 5'11 and to be comfortable have the seat all the way to the back.
