I purchased this window to replace a tafco from the 70'S that was to big for wear it was installed. I misread the delivery date and it was a five week delivery instead of one week like I thought. When it finally came in all the glass was broken. Another one was ordered and came in, in three weeks with all the glass broken. A third window was ordered and came in three weeks with GOOD glass. I installed the window and it would not close properly. After going back and forth with the service rep. for two more weeks he was going to send me a fourth window (probably another bad one). I ended up not being able to use the window at all. I took my 40 year old window and cut it down to the size of the new one and it closed perfectly. Tafco has some issues to work out but I cant wait for them. The service rep. Mike was pleasant to work with.

The windows need better packaging, several screens had pulled out and one pane of glass was broken. Here's the MOST important part: the specs for the rough opening for this window that appear on the Home Depot site are INCORECT !!! They say 36 x 60, the Tafco co has the right ones we put in 9 wrong!

not even worth it
im giving this product 1 star because they deserve something for being super cute little windows that do seal fairly well and seem good enough quality (if they had been made properly.) now for why they get 1 star, we assembled the windows and on both of them the same problem was present, the hinges were riveted too high on one side of each window making the glass pieces crooked and leaving a large gap at the bottom, meaning they were useless. trying to figure out a return/exchange was exhausting. first i called online orders but they couldn't get a hold of the company to see if they could expedite an exchange (these windows take a month to arrive and we do not have another month to wait) so next i went to my local store where neither the people at the returns/online orders desk or "mill work" department had any idea how to help me. so i left with windows in hand and now we are going to take the window apart and try to fix them ourselves. if it works great, if not we're out a nice chunk of money. point is, don't buy these windows it's not worth the hassle

I would only recommend these to someone who can repair things and who do not mind waiting on replacement glass. One of the Windows did not have any glass in it the others had 5 broken panels. One of the crank handle frames had the hole for installing the crank mechanism , built with the hole at the top , and the mech. mounts at the bottom. I had to drill a new hole. The bar was riveted in upside down from the factory. Iam presently waiting on new glass.

The rough opening listed for these windows was 1 1/2" too large! Timing did not allow for an exchange so I had to re-frame the openings so they would fit. Now I have windows that are much smaller than I had planned and paid for. Not a happy customer!

would have 5 stars except the windows don't close all the way. leaves apx. 3/16 - 1/4" crack between glass. called tafco. they said that normal. i guess a utility window don't have to be airtight. rained cats and dogs the other day with lots of wind. no rain got in! i found trim-lock rubber strips that will help.

    23x48 Jalousie Window
Window in its self seems to be fairly well made. Window does not seal at each glass as there is a quarter inch gap on each one overlapped. Installation was very difficult. The one that came out of the door had a outside and inside frame which screwed together from the inside making a tight fit. The NEW window had holes to screw through the side to the door. It is a foam filled exterior door so screwing into foam would not work! Had to drill through outside frame (no inside frame) and bolt it in the door. Not the prettiest install but added a aluminum outside and inside trim to cover will work. As a company that specializes in windows, it would seem you would know more about installation. Now to figure how to seal out air and bugs. Not worth the price.

These windows are very poor quality. The glass is very difficult to get into the holders and centered. Many slats chipped in the process. And unless oiled constantly, hard to crank open and closed. Several panes of glass fell out. broke and had to be replaced. They are far from air tight like the old fashioned ones with the surrounding metal on the glass. The screens are very difficult to remove and replace after washing the glass. We wasted $1,800 on 8 of these in a larger size. We had them installed about 4 yrs ago. They did not meet our expectations. Smyrna TN.

They work on but it would be better to have lever opening instead of screw type.

          Good product
I purchased 3 different size Jalousie windows to replace windows in a 50 yr. old house boat. The TAFCO quality was actually better than the original windows and I understand they are made in America. The quality, price, extra care given to packing, along with fast delivery earns my rating of "excellent".

          Incorrectly manufactured
The guy whose job it was to drill all the holes in the frame must have been in a hurry to leave work that day. A necessary hole was not drilled which meant that we had to phone the company, talk the PR guy into replacing the window with the promise that we would return the defective one. It took some persuading but he did and the subsequent window was correct. Also the 'installation directions' did not reveal that the only way to install the glass was to not have the window totally screwed into the frame.

          Very nice Jalousie windows
These windows, nominal 24" square, were nicely constructed, very easy to operate with installed crank. I had a contractor install them with no problems then I installed the glass pieces, screen and crank.

Had high hopes but it didn't work.
Assembly instructions were not very good. Nothing at all about crank handle. It only installs one way is the reason why I guess. The machining of it is not good, handle did not operate the window, it stuck at about a quarter turn. The store employees were good about the whole purchase but ended up returning it when the manufacture would not respond after 2 emails and a phone call.

          do not buy this window
the window does not close tight, the crank broke off without any force and when trying to get a replacement part the manufacturer was very unhelpful. this window is not air tight, very drafty.

nice little window with full motion
Came in two huge boxes, frame in one and glasses in other. very well protected, however some glasses were chipped, but not bad enough to warrant a return. HD could provide a better installation instruction and size of rough opening. I looked everywhere for this and not able to find it. So based on other window installation, I gave 1/2inch spacing all around on top of the window dimension. Since this window is for both new and replacement, there is no overage, I had to back fill all the extra space with 1/2 inch plywood. Assembly was easy and installation was simple. window is functional and looks better than a vent.

          very nice
The windows were very nice and easy to install. I am glad because they had no instructions. The only problem was there was a small dent in the lower portion of the window but we lived with it and are very happy with the results. I was quoted a fee of 300 dollars to install. Glad I did it myself.
