Would recommend the product but I would use caution and let them know of the experience I had with this product. Although I was given more I had more work to do because of the product. After I applied it to the wood instead of being clear it turned white. Then taking it off was a nightmare so no I was not happy with the product.

Thank you for sharing your experience using our Rust-Oleum Pro-Finisher Water-Based Polyurethane For Floors. This polyurethane is white in the container, and will have a white hue to it when it is applied to the surface, however, it dries crystal clear. If a white haze or blush remains in the finish, the polyurethane may have been applied too thick, or it may have pooled in a low area on the floor. In most cases, this white haze will clear as the polyurethane cures. Wiping the surface with a cloth dampened with denatured alcohol should also clear the polyurethane. - Rust-Oleum Product Support 2 Rustoleum

Complete waste of money, Buyer beware!
I followed every step on the bottle, every step, wasted tons of money on these products, just to have all my hard work soak into the grain of the 80 year oak old flooring and completely disappear! I will never again but this junk! I spent 30 plus hours sanding!

Used it on bare plywood in new shed. First coat disappeared, as expected. Recoated, without sanding, within 6 hrs. Then couple of days later, lightly sanded, and applied 3rd coat. Then applied 4th coat withing 6 hrs without sanding. 1st and 3rd coats applied with a big brush. 2nd and 4th coats applied with a roller. Roller worked fine. I'm done. 10 x 20 shed floor needed 1.6 gals for the 4 coats. Was thinking about a 5th coat but too tired. 4 coats is acceptable. I'll use up the remaining for around the windows and doors inside, at a later time.

      surprisingly good
This was not my first option, but I knew I wanted something with a gloss and water base. I was so green when applying this I had to watch a few youtube videos roght before proceeding. It dried as fast as nail polish and after one coat I sanded with 180grit with first application inwas not impressed, but I could tell its potential after it dried. I would reccommend this Im glad I did.

Easy to use, great protection, nice finish
I create home decor out of all kinds of odd materials. I love to use fabric to match the decor. My kitchen table is 54" drapery fabric, glued to top with wall paper paste, trimmed and then coated with 4 or 5 good coats of poly. The last table I did was beautiful after 19 years and still going. I make boxes or containers out of foam core board and make tissue boxes and napkin boxes to go with the decor. I love doing flower pots, tissue boxes, and turn 50 cent flower pots into design elements with function. I use the brown paper bags, fabric and wall paper to turn junk into awesome. All must be protected with a great poly. This is low odor, quick drying, easy clean up and dries to a really nice finish. I always do a little fine sanding between coats to make sure the adhesion is awesome. Dries clear and looks perfect.

        Lumpy
I ordered eight gallons for a large floor. Many of the containers had lumps of coagulated varnish that were often quite large. I had to keep picking out these blobs of solidified goo from off the floor as I spread the varnish. While the finished product looks good (it's only been down one week) I was frustrated during the process by having to keep stopping every minute to clean up the lumps. Had this product not had this problem, I would have given it 4-5 stars. If using this product, plan on laying down AT LEAST three layers to begin to cover the rough grain patches. I used five coats to get the floor to that point. (The floor is a solid red oak floor that is nearly 100 years old. I am an accountant and have never done a floor before and swear I never will again.) I have included a photo of the finished floor. I used Minwax stain - English Chestnut. I also recommend that you plan on doing all your coats in one day to avoid needing to sand after the second coat.

That’ not what we like to hear! Pro Finisher Water-Based Interior Polyurethane should be thoroughly stirred before and during use to help ensure a smooth product. We are happy to hear that you are satisfied with the results you had! Rustoleum

        incredibly useful
I've been using this for three or four years. It's one of my favorite products. It goes on and cleans up extremely easily. When wet, it's milky-white, with an almost blue cast, but it dries perfectly clear, with a perfect satin (NOT MATTE) finish. Note there is a difference between clear and colorless! It dries faintly yellow - MUCH more faintly than oil-based finishes. I used it to protect the (latex) paint job on my lower kitchen cabinets (which are slate blue), and it did not alter the color and has held up extremely well. However, over white paint, it leaves a faint yellow color, especially if you use multiple coats. I compromised with one extremely thin coat on an antique cabinet, and that worked OK. But it wouldn't leave a bright white color. I also used it on my restored kitchen floor. I used five very thin coats (and I never sand between - life is short). It has held up EXTREMELY well - I see no difference in durability between it and the oil-based poly on the floor in the next room as far as scratch and wear resistance. I did see blotches in the stain after the varnish went on, but I think that's due to all the tar adhesive I sanded off the wood (that had probably left a chemical residue after decades), because I also used this on stool-tops stained with (the same) oil-based stain, and two of those came out perfect (the third had some blotches, but they are pine and I should have pre-treated them before stain, as I know perfectly well). Oil-based varnish going over oil-based stain is worry-free in terms of color, by the way, but oil-based stain has other hassles (and good points too). This product is also somewhat permeable compared to oil-based stain - if you leave standing water (let alone chemicals) on your surface for an extended period, you may see some discoloration THROUGH the water-based varnish (without physical damage, necessarily); oil is a bit tougher. The question is how rough you're going to be with the surface. For furniture, bedroom floors, etc., this is by far the easiest product to use. For a VERY high-traffic area, you might want oil. Final notes: doesn't smell like oil-based varnish, but NOT ODOR-FREE. Ventilate well if you don't want a headache. And finally, one gallon will last an eternity. I've done the kitchen floor, all the cabinets, a staircase, and several pieces of furniture - and I still have some left. Not cheap, but well worth the money!

          Best Product at Best Value.
I work with many different finishes (for over 23 years) and this was very compatible to the leaders in the industry. I compared prices with other finishes that big box stores had and this product had the best price. What I liked most about the product was how easy it was to work with (it was applied with a roller) and its finish look was beautiful. I have worked with both the Satin and the Semi-gloss and the sheen was very even with no flashing what so ever? The product is even better than some other name brand products on the market. Truly this water base finish gives Home Depot and edge on floor finishes and I would recommend this product not only to consumers but floor professionals as well.

We are sorry to hear of your experience with the Varathane Water-Based Polyurethane. It is not recommended to apply this product in direct sunlight. Applying it outside is okay, just not in direct sun. We do recommend using a good quality, synthetic bristle brush, foam brush, or applicator. If you feel that the product was drying to fast, it is possible to add water to the polyurethane, to help with the flow and slow down the curing time. Please contact our Product Support Group at 1-800-901-0411, to discuss your particular experience with this product further. Rustoleum

          Perfect Product for the Job
This product has been an excellent choice for topping off the job at hand (brown packaging paper with glue & water as a floor treatment). Fast drying, hardly any noticable odor, easy application and a beautiful shine! Those who have come to see it cannot believe how beautiful it looks!

          Easy to use...
This product goes on the floor clean and easy. As directed, I did NOT shake the bottle prior to pouring into paint pan so I had NO issues with bubbles. It goes on easy and dries in the time that they said that it would. I have used this product two different times and have had great results both times. Once I used the flat the second time I used the semi-gloss and I prefer the finish on that one. I would use this product again!

I give it 4 stars . I’m happy with it but have to go back to a customer house as some of it didn’t clear and I have to scratch it out in very small but noticeable spots.

          Didn't work well for me.
I put down 3 coats. It is showing surface scratches all over. After six weeks it looks worse than the floor did before I coated it. This was the first time I have ever used it. I'm going to run the random orbital sander over the whole thing and go back to the Glitsa Infinity that I have always used before. I get 5-7 years out of that stuff. For me its a much better product. A little more expensive but well worth over this in my opinion.

That's not what we expect to hear! For the best results, it is essential that a minimum of 3 coats are applied. You also want to ensure that you are applying enough Rust-Oleum Parks Pro Finisher Water-Based Polyurethane for Floors for your square footage. Each gallon has a recommended coverage of 600-700 square feet with a single coat.
