Easy install and pilot fired right up. No issues and seems to be very good quality. Hot water has been working great ever since install.

My heater was dented. Rheem, why? Not a great way to start. The plumber suggested returning it but since it was the last one in the store, I suggested he proceed anyway. After fitting it, there was a drip-drip fizzing sound...yes, there was an internal leak. After trying to call the Rheem number and a few choice words after getting an automated system, he called Home Depot. They said they didn't have any others but the next nearest store 45 minutes away showed 1 in stock. After calling them and having them put it on hold and an hour-and-a-half round-trip later, the replacement is installed and working ok. Full marks to staff at the Temple Home Depot, they made what was already a bad day somewhat more bearable with their good customer service. I get that if a box is damaged on the outside, it's possible that the contents may have sustained damage but when an item is damaged before being packaged, that is inexcusable. At the very least, it's poor quality control and has made me think twice about buying this brand in future. I hope the heater lasts longer than my faith in Rheem.

Purchased about a week ago at the Bozeman, MT store, installed by a plumber two days ago. It was not in stock at the store so it was shipped to my house directly from Rheem via Home Depot. Great experience buying this through Home Depot. Everyone from plumbing to customer service was extremely helpful. Would recommend this model and purchasing this at the Home Depot store.

Easy to install and so far works well. It was tricky to get the blinking blue light initially. Good price.

Replaced a Lochinvar Gas Water Heater that as was in the home when I purchased it over 7 years ago with this model. Have only been in use for two days, but hoping it will provide many years of trouble free efficient service.

Installed this hot water tank last weekend. This is not something I have done before, but it was pretty easy. So far it has been working just fine and I am happy with it.

The water heater was installed by Home Depot installers it only took about 45 minutes to install and remove the old water heater. So it's only been in service a short time it seems to be running efficiently and as expected. It seems very responsive to calls for hot water. The unit has several nice features and thus far it has met all our expectations. The 12 year limited warranty is a nice feature also.

So far it works very good. It was delivered with a big dent on the left side near the thermostat. Informed Home Depot, they were very helpful and suggested a replacement but not the same model, next delivery. But my appointment with plumber did not allow me to wait for a replacement. Bottom line, it works fine and we are getting hot water and kids love it

I just installed this unit in my home on 01/19/20. Installation was very easy. 2.5 hrs from removal of old and installation of new. The pilot fired right up at startup. No leaks or hiccups. I will keep this review updated as the years go by.

There is no company in northern Idaho for Rheem water heater warranty purchased through Home Depot. Relief leaked right away and the pilot won’t stay lit. Rheem sent out a replacement relief but still has not addressed the pilot outages. I have called customer service multiple times only to keep getting transferred and put on hold. Here I sit with a defective product that Rheem refuses to help me with. Buy a different brand! I know I will! BTW, it’s been almost 6 months.

Install was very easy, the initial ignition was not a challenge at all and the performance is fantastic. We only set the heat half way and it's almost too hot. We can run the dishwasher, washing machine and shower a couple in a row and have yet to exhaust the total volume available.

Installed and doesnt leak. Heats water OK.

Installation and startup went smoothly. Water temp regulation seems much better than the old water heater's (mechanical) thermostat could provide. If the tank truly holds up 9+ years, I would rate this is a 5-star product.

The water heater was easy to install and came with precise instructions. I also like the features the control module have that indicates safe operation (blue lights) and red lights which indicate if their is a problem. The expansion tank came with precise instructions and information and was easy to install on the new water heater too. Highly recommend both items!!

My Kenmore water heater lasted a good 20 YEARS then finally tanked. Can't go more than a day without hot water so started shopping online the day it went out. Thankfully there's a Home Depot 1 mile from my home. Home Depot was closest and had the least expensive name brand (I'm familiar with) in stock compared with the other 2 big box hardware stores. Was really low on funds from Christmas and New Year and really couldn't afford the $1400 quoted install price. Thankfully there was a video that clearly showed how to install this water heater including all the parts necessary and it was dead on! The install video was a God send! I followed instructions to the "T" and was able to remove the dead water heater and install this new one in a few hours. I'm glad I got the install kit pictured in the video. Didn't need the PVC pipe cutter pictured and bought a 12" Pipe wrench for $9 at the Harbor Freight store next door. The Sears installer who put in the last water heater went through great lengths to make it as difficult as possible to remove the old water heater using numerous fittings, joints and couplings, etc. for the old heater's water and gas connections. Removed the unnecessary pipe pieces and replaced with the parts in the install kit and it looks beautiful! Had to buy a vent extension ($6 at Home Depot) as I had to install the water heater further out in order to use the install kit. Followed video directions from product description and the Rheem instructions included in box to prep the water heater for use. Igniting the pilot light was a EASY and took maybe 45 seconds. Took about about 30 minutes to heat up water in the home. Was able to take a nice hot shower and admired the job well done. Total cost for the water heater, all parts, tools and tax was under $500. Thanks for the video Home Depot!

So far, so good. My previous heater was a Rheem & that 1 lasted 23 years!! Here’s to another 20 years!

Unfortunately after just 2 years the XG50T09HE40U1 model Rheem water heater has died. Rheem's customer service says it's the thermostat so they are sending me the part but it's left up to me to replace. Also, the drain valve is leaking so they are also sending that part as well. Hopefully, I can replace with w/o plumbing skills! I definitely would not recommend anyone purchase a manufacture whose product doesn't even outlive the warranty.

Met all my expectations. Good value for price, quality, and had the best reviews of all the other water heaters I considered. The plumber I hired to install it, also was impressed and, after asking how much I paid for it, said it seemed much better than the models they offer from their shop. It's been installed for about one month now and works great with no issues. I am very satisfied and would recommend this brand and model.

I was impressed with this water heater. I was replacing one from a different manufacturer so I was not sure what I would need to purchase to complete the install. When I installed the old one I had to run back to Home Depot multiple times. But this one had everything I needed to swap it with the old one. No return trips to the store! In fact since it had everything included I was able to pull the old one and install the new one in less than an hour, including clean-up. As you can see in the picture I turned it all the way up when I first installed it just to get an idea of how hot the water could be. I was amazed not only by how hot, but also by how fast it got that hot.

The only reason that I didn't give it 5 stars is that I have only had it in about 3 weeks, but so far, it has been great.

I replaced a 14yo water heater that kept going out and I was finally fed up with it. Decided to bite the bullet on this one due to price and urgency. Self installed, was pretty easy as long as you have 2-3 extra people helping you. It also helped that mines was on the first floor as well. It takes 20-30 seconds to get hot water to the farthest room in the house so not bad. It's been 6 months and overall I am very happy, especially with the winter coming up in Houston!

Water Heater was defective. Apparently the thermostat/ pilot buttons are notorious for being a piece of poop. After buying it brand new from HD the pilot button was stuck shut and did not allow me to start the pilot after trying to install it for the first time. I called the 1800 # on the water heater and they said they would send me a new part and have someone install it since it was tricky. After I scheduled a time for a tech to come install it I never got a call back for days until I kept calling the 1800 number. Once a "tech" / (local plumbing company) called me to schedule a time (after a week without hot water) they asked me to send them a picture of the water heater to see if it was "up to code". I left work early to go home and send them a pic of it and no response from them. I called them back several times until they finally said it was not up to code and I would have to pay everything out of pocket. (installation, time, etc.).... I told them to eat poop and i'd do it myself.... After an hour of taking the flippin thing apart and installing the new part I now have hot water... NEVER AGAIN will I buy this crap brand..... By the way its all over the internet that these Honeywell thermostat/pilots suck.... and they still keep selling them.

Would not recommend this product. I had it professionally installed including new properly sized and sloped venting it passed inspections. However in only 4 months of use it has started to melt itself including all of the plastic components on the top. I have never seen such lack of proper material choices. Rheem was not helpful and now I am stuck with it.

Have this one installed in my property less than a year ago. It was manufactured in Jun 2018. The gas was shutoff for other jobs, Now it can not light up. Can't believe it needs repair just after one year. Will stay away from Rheem water heater from now on.
