Easy install glad I choose the 9 year water tank as the drain is metal instead of plastic.

Taller than expected

When I opened the box the outer shell of the tank was severely dented.

I, like you, thought the overwhelming 5 star reviews meant I wouldn’t have any issues with this water heater. I read the warnings about the plastic drain valve, but ignored them. And then I woke up with a flooded basement. About 18 months after a seamless install, the plastic drain valve failed without warning, gushing water into my basement for hours before I noticed. If Rheem cared about their customers, they would install a proper, brass valve on every unit. If you buy this, do that yourself.

This hot water heater is premium for sure! I was already happy that it is a 12-year unit, but the higher BTU rating permits it to heat faster and support a bath in our large rub while someone else is using the shower or washing clothes. Good stuff!!

Horrible. First one was delivered damaged. Customer service told me to bring it back to the store even after I paid for delivery. I had to drive over an hour away to get another one with no support from Home Depot at all. I was given a credit toward the new one, but was told I had to bring the old one back to the store. then the second one that I drove an hour to get and brought to the customer leaked out of the top when I put it in. Absolutely ridiculous. As a plumbing professional, I will never buy another water heater from Home Depot.

Completely damaged unit. Very disappointed in home depot for trying to sell me this product. Had to be reordered less than one star

Waited ten days before reviewing this water heater. Read all the reviews on it and a couple other brands. Have had no issues with it. Installation was interesting as we thought it would drop right in where the old one came out but, it's wider by a couple inches (probably better insulated) than the old one and butt up against the gas pipe. First tried to extend the copper in/out pipes to accommodate. After wasting a few hours we decided to get the shark bite pipes and that made installation a snap. Fired it up and EUREKA--hot water once again. Ten days later and all is still well. No leaks and a very (VERY) satisfied customer.

It is really quiet. My old one you could hear it when it kick on.

Gas valve damaged when I unboxed it. No hot water for a week now. Waiting on new part from Rheem. Unit never lit. Sitting in my basement fully installed and filled with cold water. Wished Rheem had shipped part overnight knowing our family had no hot water.

Excellent Brand very Good Warranty

hot water heater was damaged straight out of the box. Home depot offered no resolution other than uninstalling at my cost and returning myself. i will not buy appliances here again

This water heater is creating a dangerous condition in my home! Thank goodness the safety shut-off is functioning. I posted what the gas flame should look like, and what I have in this brand new water heater. Scary!!! Only one service company returned my call out of the 5 I contacted. They want me to pay as well. A 4 month old water heater should be 100% covered!!! Now it's cold water until I can get someone to actually come out and repair it.

After I installed it, it worked OK. Month later product is not working. they make me wait 30 minutes online and after that they hang up on me. What are the worst service there is

Special ordered. Had 12 day lead time. Came damaged to the store, but all i received is a notification that it is being reordered with another 12 day lead time. I could kot wait for another 12 days. No expediting or alternatives were offered and when i told them i didnt want it, they couldnt stop the order. In the meanwhile its still on my card, so i guess i own it until the store receives it. All i gotta say is be careful if you want to special order anything from Home Depot

Purchased the new 75 gal NG Rheem water heater. While driving home, we noticed a rattle in the tank. Got home and aimed a flashlight in the inlet opening and aimed my phone through the outlet fitting. Found that there is a nipple inside the tank. This was dropped or knocked into the tank during assembly and the tank was still welded shut and passed QC. Makes me question Rheem's quality control procedures.

I need a replacement water heater like tomorrow, we all know REHEEM will not honor there warranty, for immediate replacement! There’s 50+ gallons of water covering my basement apartment! I paid $800 for this unit plus $800 for the install! That’s $1600 in the trash! My old AO smith lasted 29 years! Let’s see what Rheem says tomorrow! Look at the date this was made 10/11/2016! It’s a baby! Wow, I’m heartbroken! Even if they replace it, I don’t have installation money! This is bad news!

Installed a brand new unit in a attic and turned on the heating, right away notice the flame turn orange , I got down to look on the window burner notice it was dripping from exhaust hole, had to undo everything , return to Home Depot Waste of time will not be buying this anymore. Since home depot did not even consider giving me a discount for all the inconveniences and waste of time.

I bought a tank and had to return it due to a gas leak from the tank itself. Now I will be returning the second tank I purchased and changing companies. I used soapy water and electronic gas tester to test gas lines. The lines were installed good. There has been a leak in the combustion gas inlets. The odor has been pronounced but less the second time. Technically any odor is considered a leaking tank. All and all dissatisfied and wasted valuable time putting in and swapping tanks.

Installed properly. Started to melt plastic around Hot and Cold supply on top of tank. And it was overheating so much I thought it might blow. Others have reported same.

I was looking at the 9 year Rheem when originally coming to the store and teh fact that only the 6 year were on the floor told me what people buy(the 9 was up in the racks). This is a quality unit and the only difference in the longer warranty is the annode. The unit is easy to install yourself, is very quiet and made warm water within 30 minutes. At the price HD sells these for it is a good DIY with plenty of videos online to assit. Just carefully meassure the size so you get a close fit and don’t need to custom fit much. HD even sells compression fitting connector if you are not comfortable with copper pipe sweating. Very happy and a great price.

would love to using my water heater but it was delivered all busted up. smashed and twisted. and goes all the way around the bottom.

So far so good the fit and converting from my old tank to this took less than 2hrs no special professional people just me and hubby looks amazing water ? I’d hot I am pleased

Just installed the Rheem performance 40 gal natural gas hot water tank easy to install and to get pilot lit family of in the house don't run out of hot water highly recommend

I love this water heater. It’s very nice and sturdy with a cool indicator light that lets you know it’s working properly. Very hugg quality!

Solid value. Good performer. Rheem stands behind their product with a great warranty. I bought another one after the first one had a faulty pressure relief valve that allowed water to drip into the base pan rusting out the bottom of the water heater. I took it back to Home Depot and got a pro-rated credit based on the remaining warranty to buy another. Hassle-free customer service. Highly recommended.

Would not recommend this water heater. Rheem warranty works with 3rd party plumbers and they are extremely slow to fix your problem. Had to hire a local plumber after almost a week of waiting, to get it diagnosed Rheem shipped the part (Flammable Vapor Ignition Resistant) which broke after 3 months of use and getting it installed costed me close to the price of a new water heater. Lesson learned, dont buy a water heater that has a Flamable Vapor Ignition Resistant.

Disappointed I didn’t open box at store to inspect for damage. The box indicated such, bottom had dents along with numerous scratches, documented (with pictures) once removed from box. If opened at store would a discounted been offered? Other damages: draft hood arms bended; jacket door compartment bended, door could not be initially installed.

I bought this 3 years ago and I have to replace it already what happen to the good old days when you got quality for your hard earned money now seems to me these company's only care about quanity not quality I remembered when water heater's used to last twenty plus year's now you can barley get one to last 3 if you are lucky seriously I guess those days are gone just like the quality of household equipment that you need I had an heater once upon a time lasted 25 years now that's what I call getting your money"s worth. This thing started dripping and it had to be shut off because the nozzle or what ever is going on inside has broken off and we flushed it once a year but it just slowly started dripping this is the second one within 5.5 years. which doesn't make no sense!! I wish I could fine another brand other than this one the features was ok the dislike is I have to replace it with in 3 years I have only had this three years this did not meet my expectations.

Bought it as advertised and recommended by my HVAC friend. But to my surprise, Rheem's engineer did a poor job when they cut the vent short which causes some of the vapors to dissipate too soon at the openings which then creates condensation around the cold water pipe connection as shown in the picture. This will cause rust and other issues around the base of the galvanized pipe sooner or later depending the customer's water quality.
