This Rheem tank was purchased to replace one of the exact kind that leaked and had 2 year warranty left on it. In all good faith hoping Rheem will refund me the $583.31. It leaked at the cold water 3/4 nipple where it's threaded into the tank as you see in the pictures and at a good rate which I had no time, and get it replaced. See photos. I bought the rheem $559 with the 6 years part warranty. There are alot of bad review of the rheem before … especially the complain of the thermostat from honeywell. The rheem i bought got a thermostat from Resideo. So far everything work good throughout 7 months of use. I only set my temperature to Hot only. I think Rheem does listen to people complain about bad thermostat made from Honey Well. I am happy with the thermostat from Resideo. Set up was easy . I do it my self within 2 hours.

Easy to install. Had to buy a couple of connectors for the water in and out. Going to re-do the gas line so there is a drip lag. Work good. No more water on the floor.

Comes with 2yrs labor warranty along with OEM 9yrs warranty. Easy to install by a professional, simple steps from starting pilot and setting heat levels along with a VACation position.

The energy used is 264 therms as stated on all Energy Guide Stickers for this model. The cost to use the water heater will increase when the price of gas goes up. The per therm of gas cost that THD shows is $1.09. The cost per therm is shown at $1.21 on the newer sticker that shows annual cost of $320. Installation was plug and play. The pilot lit fine after the air purged out of the gas line; due to the gas line-length between the shut-off and water heater. ...and the water is really hot!

Energy Guide sticker on product shows more costly estimate of $320, $32 more than the $288 energy guide estimate on Home Depot’s product page on their website.

So far it's working like it should. We installed it ourselves and had no problems.

Purchase May 2022 and it started turning off. We turned back on and then again. It’s doing it more often. Had plumbers come over to repair. They won’t even touch this brand because they don’t work and recommended to replace it to a different brand.

After my builders grade AO Smith decided to give up early January, I went looking for a reliable replacement. Did my research and selected the Performance Plus. Easy installation in . Worked right out the box. Had a little water leak from the hose connection. No fault of Rheem. Made small adjustments to the exhaust. Hot water in minutes. Hopefully this will last up to 20 years like my builders unit. Highly recommended for the value, easy of installation/operation, performance and looks.

Cheap plastic drain valve! Busted and caused flooding in the entire house. Broke when not home.

I bought a Rheem 40 gallon gas hot water heater less then five years ago. A few weeks ago I noticed it is rusted out. It is still under warranty but the warranty is basically worthless. Rheem is a piece of garbage in a box. Do not buy!!

Doing the job. We did install a Grundfos circulator to have “instant” hot water in the bathroom farthest from the hot water tank.

Water heats very quickly and stays at consistent temperature. It also has an easy knob to adjust temperature or set in vacation mode.

Had problem New Water Heater with pressure relief valve. Rheem replaced part overnight at no cost to me. No more leak. Great company. Great price at HomeDepot.

I bought this on 1/29/2023 and planned out what i wanted before my purchase by measuring the exact height so when i headed to HD i was able to buy the exact piece to swap out without the need to revise the copper pipes (which is a pain). This RHEEM 40gallon was perfect in the box, connected easily and honestly recovers so much faster than the 12 year old unit it replaced. Super quiet and fast heating recovery

Thermopile not Thermocouple: Thermocouples are better and fail less. Sell replacement thermopiles at Home Depot? Of course not just thermocouples Plastic drain: In store cost $1 less than metal ones that never break which means it cost Rheem 10c less to install these Anode rod not magnesium: Why have ones that are healthy for you let alone are not neurotoxic? Because they want folks to be out of it enough to keep buying trash. Pressure valve: You get 5 uses before it leaks uncontrollably

This unit fired up, right out of the box. Pleased with the quality! Pleased with how the install played out. Love the 12 year warranty. However keep in mind the first "3" years is parts and labor for replacement. And the last 9 are parts ONLY. So far so good! Rheem makes a nice rock solid heater. Tim

In spite of my Dad fixing & replacing my old 40 gal natural gas hot water heater with the new Rheem hot water heater took him a week to do it , I was happy I made the right purchase.

Up to now the water heater is working good it is a very easy installation and Esaú set up

2 minutes after stepping into shower it slowly starts getting hotter and hotter. Turn down hot or turn up cold, either way, 1 minute later it's getting hotter and you have to start the process all over. Asked home depot about it, they said my pressure regulator must be bad. Bought water pressure tester, pressure perfect, adjusted on tank, same, adjusted pressure, same still, but regulator was decades old, so replaced it too. Still spend my shower adjusting temp over and over.

Gas control was leaking gas on the first day of installation.

I've been a master plumber for 25 years. Would only put Rheem heaters in my customers houses. But that all came to an end when Rheem would only pay out a $100 credit at my local supplier to replace a faulty gas valve that is well known in the industry. It all happened when there local installer that Rheem pays a quality rate to replace the faulty valve was away on vacation. My customer was calling me saying how they had no hot water after 6 months of heater being installed. Rheem's Rap was not available. So I pick up the gas valve at my local supplier. The Tank needs to be completely drained which can easily take you 1 1/2 hrs for install . Why is my time less valuable then the tec that Rheem is paying. Rheem is forgetting that the plumber is the 1st one on the job and 99% of the time they go with what I recommend. . So for now on it's Bradford White which is American made not like Rheem that's produced in Mexico !

Went to my local Home Depot store on Sunday August 14th to purchase a water heater and I ended up get the Rheem brand. Took it home and it was connected by a professional and the next morning the tank started leaking. I had to drain and disconnect the tank. My mistake was getting another Rheem brand tank but I figured maybe I got a bad tank. Took it back the next evening brought it back home and the very same thing started to happen again. It water started trickling down by the grill area inside the tank. Once again we had to disconnect drain the tank and take it back tomorrow and get a refund. So frustrating and disappointed with this brand and the worst part is they don’t have no other brand at my Home Depot. My last water tank was a Whirlpool and that lasted 8yrs. These two lasted less than 24 hours.

The closed plastic drain valve at the bottom failed and water flowed for some time causing damage through the night to our two guest bedrooms. Nearly $9,000 insurance claim. We paid $1,500 deductible. Rheem sent us a brass replacement valve next day so we could get the water heater working again. At least buy a brass valve with your purchase.

Quality made and high deficiency make this a great water heater.

I bought a 40 gallon gas Rheem Water Heater 18 months ago. When nobody was home the PLASTIC drain valve at the bottom of the tank failed and the house flooded, water was shooting out of the drain valve as if the drain was open all the way, which it was not it was shut. This wasn't just the tank emptying, the tank continued to fill and shoot out of the faulty drain value. The drain is made of flimsy PLASTIC. I called Rheem and they were quick to mail me an all brass drain value to replace the plastic one. When later contacting Rheem with photos of all of the damage to the property and repair-remediation receipts, Rheem replied that they didn't make that component of the water heater and they would put the manufacturer of the plastic drain value on notice. So Rheem was able to save $2 by using a plastic drain value rather than a metal one, so they got to save $2 and I am out $2000 in damage repairs. DO NOT BUY RHEEM PRODUCTS! Rheem does not stand behind their products.

When we built our home in 2005 they installed the basic Rheem 50 gal water heaters with a 6 year warranty. For some reason both failed in 2-3 years but were replaced under warranty. The replacements lasted with one failing at 10 years and the other this year. Went with a little bit of an upgrade with this purchase and hope to get the same or better life.

So far so good! Installed on 2/19/22

Installed it in about 5 hours in a difficult location by myself, 71 years old!
