Hello, Thanks for writing a review and we’re sorry to have learned your issues. We do understand that smaller size vacuum doesn't have the option for the drain plug. However, most of the customer are satisfied with the performance of the vacuum, if this vacuum is not the one you needed for your project you may return the unit to Home Depot within 90 days from the day it was purchased. if you are using the vacuum mainly for water pick up and a drain is needed, then we do recommend to get our vacuum that is 10 gallon or larger, the drain will greatly assist you in expelling the water inside the cannister of the vacuum. However, just a reminded higher capacity meaning heavier weight depending on the amount of liquid you will be picking up.
