The composite door with woodgrain interior was a fair price for the quality of this door. The woodgrain interior was fairly easy to stain with Gelstain and covered with polyurethane per instructions. Finish came out looking beautiful. The door when delivered had damage on the track roller due to the rollers making dents in the track. The door appeared to have had support blocks under the active panel to prevent this damage but one of the blocks was missing and the panel had shifted allowing the track and roller contact to occur. This also caused some damage on the small silicon alignment air dams located at the top and bottom of the active panel slide areas. Cosmetically , the outside corner joints were somewhat misaligned which took away from the overall beauty of the door. I would have to say other than the outer corner joint misalignment, this is a great door at the price paid. It seems to roll fairly easy after I used pliers to straighten the dented roller track. Overall I would probably take another chance at buying this door hoping the shipment would be better. Not a bad investment for the price and knowledge that it won't rot or swell.

Fairly heavy so you need more than 2-3 people to lift it into place. It is a beautiful piece with wonderful glass that is double pane to provide comfort for our kitchen and I love the sturdy handle and double lock system. This product has been saving us a lot of heating bill costs this fall/winter so far. I am very happy with it. The only recommendation would be to provide a sliding screen door.

If I could give this door zero stars I would I bought the door at the troy mi home depo on 10-23-14. The vinyl frame around the stationary glass panel is cracking in several spots, it almost appears to be rotting. Home Depot's website says that the door has a life time warranty as does the paperwork that came with the door and the display at home depot I called the manufacturer of the door they told me to call the home depot that I bought the door from and that they will exchange it. I called home depot and they told me that if it has been more than 30 days they will not return or exchange the door so they advertise a life time warranty but in reality it's a 30 day warranty

This is a very nice well made door, for this price point. We installed it with the PVC brick molding 3 piece kit that HD sells and we used white GE silicone II to seal it up. This should be a maintenance free install from this point forward. One Item I was dissatisfied in was the #10 3 inch stainless install screws that came with the door. They are standard Phillips head and they are too soft for the task. Masterpiece needs to change this screw to a square drive or a Torx head because these screw simply strip out too easy. Even through this is a "white" door compared to the white PVC brick mold it is an "off white" door. I wished they would have made the door as white as the PVC brick mold is . The door opens smoothly and as long as Masterpiece lives up to their warranty, if I ever need them, the door is an excellent product and value.

I bought this door a few weeks back and installed it without much trouble. It's a smooth, solid door for the price for sure, but don't expect it do be on par with doors that cost $1500+. It's made in China and right off the bat there were a few manufacturing quality issues that stuck out negatively: 1) the frame doesn't mate seemlessly in the upper corners 2) the height adjustment screws on the slider are very difficult to turn, needed my hammer drill 3) on the slider, the vynil strip which caps over the glass on the bottom is not flush (sticks out a little on one side), and caused a little gap in the sealant between the strip and the glass 4) the clear silicone sealant around the glass had oozed out a little, not big deal to trim it off. 5) this product is not pure white, it's more of a light eggshell color. 6) there was a tiny nick in the finish on the inside of the slider door, no way to tell until completely removing from packaging One thing I liked is that there is a screen door made specifically for this patio door, and it matches perfectly. Problem is there is no wheel adjustment. It's a little difficult to slide and from the inside there really is no handle to grab on to, so you kind of have to push against the door to get a grip and get it to move. This has resulted in the door bowing out, which makes it difficult to fit into the track casing when closed, and also ruins the seal on the felt weather strtip at the back of the screen door. Also I had to file down the seams at the upper corners so it could fit in the upper track (sloppy manufacturing and quality control). A very poorly executed design. Looks/feels nice and solid but it's not a good door at all (but was only $99). I'll be returning to see if I can exchange it with one that works better. Overall I would still recommend this door for someone who wants a solid feeling door that rolls nice but only has about $700 to spend on a door (including tax/delivery) but with a little better quality control the door could be much better.

First, the door looks GREAT! Was well protected in shipping, etc.... Second, it's fairly simple to install, and seems heavy and well made - at first. Several issues with it after less than a month. First, weather stripping that was installed beneath the sliding portion of the door has worked it's way out - and consequently, is bent, torn, and eventually off. I knelt down almost every time I opened the door to gently inch it back inside the track, but I'm the only member of the household that bothered... Second, the locking mechanism is really cheaply designed. 90% of the time the lock doesn't go into position. It FEELS like it's locked, the key turns properly, but a good tug proves otherwise. We determined that the catch for the lock is too low, and the hook on the door side of the lock doesn't catch in the track. There are two screws holding the catch in place, it's wobbly and not a sturdy design, and replacing the factory catch with one of better quality is on the Honey Do ASAP list. Third, like a normal patio door, you have to step up over a track that is approx. 2" tall from the inside to go out, so if you are even a tiny bit on the clumsy side, go for a true French door unit and skip the slider. Forth, the outside track has deep grooves that will catch dirt and debris, and requires continual sweeping and vacuuming, something I had not considered when purchasing an exterior door. Last, I ordered a Right hand door, they gave us a Left hand door as our order. It was securely wrapped and it wasn't until the installer removed the packaging that we realized it was the wrong Hand! With a carpenter on the clock, we made do. Then three weeks later, (well after installed) Home Depot called and said our Right hand door was in. Too late! Overall, it feels heavy, it looks great from a distance, and I wanted the fullest view possible. But it's not well made and I'd spend more money for a better unit if I could re-do.

Unfortunately, a reinforcing steel channel in the sliding panel came loose, and made a noise when the sliding panel was moved. However, a call to the manufacturer's customer service was met with a very prompt response from a regional support person. He stopped at my house, and made a field repair. Said that for a couple of weeks, factory switched adhesives that were used to hold the channel in place, and there were some field failures before they changed their process again. The door itself, though, was easy to install, and looks and works great. The price point is hard to believe - possibly a loss-leader to get customers into Home Depot looking at doors, giving sales guys a chance to up-sell them to additional features - like microblinds in the glass panels. REgardless of low price, it looks, works and feels like a much more expensive door. A second call to customer service about some missing info in instructions was answered promptly as well. And, gilding the lily - the lock core is totally compatible with a Schlage type C keyway, so it was a snap to re-key it so you can have one key for all locks in the house. Love the door. Four stars only because of the need to field-repair the loose reinforcement. Otherwise you would think it is a big-name brand.

Did a lot of research prior to purchasing. We were going to buy a door with the blinds inside but did not for two reasons. If/when they break the cost to repair is quite high. Also the energy efficiency is quite lower b/c only air in between glass inside of argon gas. Being the largest window we were looking for better efficiency. For the money this may be the best door available in our area. The quality is very good and no issues installing. The screws to install were even included! Unless you are looking to pay close to 2k for a door, this is the way to go.

I was very happy with this door choice and ease of installation. This is a hard decision, as so many sliders are astronomical in price and out of many's (mine included's) price range. Also some bad reviews of less expensive doors leave you wary. I am a home handyman but have worked on building crews and so I have a good modicum of construction experience. The installation was pretty straight forward, the quality, fit and function of the door was/has been excellent. We have had the door in for the past winter and it has made a huge difference in our living room temperature. The slider and latch work like a charm! A few caveats: 1. You need to have experience putting in doors and/or windows, not for the newbie 2. Follow the directions! Read them beforehand so you have a solid idea as to the sequence of the installation. 3. Make sure your measurements are correct and that the sill, header and sides are clean and square. 4. Two strong people and a spotter are required to put the door in place. 5. There is low expanse foam made especially for sliders and opening windows. It make the job of insulating between the wedges much easier, but honor sufficiency and necessity, the stuff expands quickly and is a mess. Wear rubber gloves, do not get on skin! The good new is it cleans of the composite very easily.

We bought two of these doors several months ago and installed them ourselves (me and my 87yr old father-in-law). This was my first time installing sliding glass doors, and it wasn't too difficult. One day to install and another few hours the next day to fine tune the sliding mechanisms. The doors feel very solid and cut out noise dramatically. We have helicopters flying overhead regularly here in LA, and it is impressive how these door can block out the sound. For the price, you can't beat it. Looks like a higher end door with the wider profile trim, which is why we went for them. Very happy we did.

Finally....we have a working and great looking patio door
We had an older, wooden patio door when we bought our home. After years of wear and tear, letting in drafts and small insects (Gross!), we found a great looking and affordable sliding patio door at Home Depot. It took my father in-law and I roughly four (4) hours to install but that included picking up the door, going back to Home Depot for supplies and putting up the trim and caulk. Overall, we are extremely satisfied with our purchase!

I had this door professionally installed and it is very easy to operate. The door is rather heavy and strong which i prefer also it looks real nice from either sides.

              Satisfied with this door
I needed to replace a rotting Pella french door to my patio, and searched for several weeks before deciding on this door. Because my house is accented with wood everywhere, the interior wood grain was the selling point for me, and I am glad that I chose this door instead of a cheaper alternative. *The interior wood feels very 'plastic-like' but the color is a light, almost maple color. It can be stained to match whatever before installation (have to lay it down so the stain doesn't run or streak). I purchased the door and had it shipped to my local HD (Brighton, MI) and was surprised at how well it was packaged upon pickup. The door comes upright on a pallet, and is braced on sides with diagonal 2x4's, then completely wrapped in cellophane. It also has plastic handles attached to the sides for easy moving. I got it home and had a neighbor help me unload it. (IT IS HEAVY- don't let your ego break a new door.) A friend and I were able to remove the old door and install the new door in a day (about 6 hours). Installation is pretty straightforward: the most difficult part is lifting and setting the door into place. The door looks great and locks well. It has been installed now for 6 months and I have no complaints.

              Disappointed
I ordered a Master Piece patio door on-line from Home Depot, and had it delivered to local store. It came packed very well in plastic wrapping, cardboard, and 2x4s. 1) I noticed two small dings and a staple stuck in the door. I didn’t notice until I had the door completely unpackaged and about to install. 2) There’s a sticky haze on the inside and outside of just the top half of the glass. I didn’t notice until after the door was installed and the sun was shining through. I assumed it would come right off easily. It did not. 3) The local Home Depot would do nothing, and said call Master Piece or the Home Depot 800 number for on-line orders. 4) Master Piece would do nothing. They said clean it, and too late you’ve installed it. Oh but you could have returned it if you hadn’t installed it already. We are very sorry and apologize for your inconvenience. I installed myself with the help of a friend. There are no issues with the install—the door is working fine otherwise. Now I’ve took off from work, made arrangements for help (needed for a 250 pound door), unwrapped, and about to install---and now sto? Home Depot and Master Piece will tell you sorry you shouldn’t have installed. But what they won’t directly say is, “We are not at all concerns about your loss of time or money should you decide to return the door, and we know it won’t be easy for you to do.” Returning this is not so simple for this type of item. It’s not like returning a tool. The dings were covered by cardboard even after unpacking most of the materials. I didn’t notice the haze, and would have assumed it would come off easily—it did not. See pics for yourself. Given this information decide for yourself whether to order a Master Piece door from Home Depot. My recommendation would be this. Don’t order a Master Piece door. Their customer service was not the least bit concerned. Don’t order large items from Home Depot on-line. This is not new condition. Not for a $550 item. Neither Master Piece nor Home Depot would do a thing after contacting them. Best regards Jerry Simmons

              Well crafted patio door
This door was professionally installed using home depot's installers. The workers were great in getting the door in with little difficulty and commented that this door is good and solid and better than others that they have installed. The door looks and operates great, slides with ease and has an added lock feature which is especially nice if you have small children, as they will not be able to unlock the door by using only the handle.

                  Great Value
We love the look and feel of this door compared to our old vinyl slider. Door though much heavier slides a lot easier, no adjustment necessary. If not for some silicon that oozed out onto glass we would have rated the appearance as excellent. Door is heavy and will take at least 3 strong individuals to move about. We did have to drop the lock catch on door for mechanism to operate properly.

                  Updated Review- Great Customer Service
This is a follow-up to my post from a few weeks ago. I had noted some problems with the lock that I wasn't sure whether this was due to installer problem or door hardware problem. Turns out it was an installer issue. There's actually an adjustable screw that controls how far out the lock extends, so you can get it to seat perfectly with the lock "keeper." My installers just completely missed this. More importantly, this gives me an opportunity to comment on the exceptional customer service from Masterpiece. Apparently in response to seeing my review, the Masterpiece sales manager (Jim) proactively reached out to me to see if they could get someone to come by and fix it for me. Yes, you heard me right, I didn't contact them to complain- they contacted me!!! Within a couple days, they had their rep (Ian), also great, out here and got it fixed within just a few minutes. He also did some cleanup of some excess silicone around the glass panes that, frankly, I hadn't even noticed. That just reflects a sense of pride in the product and desire for the customer to have the best product possible that you just don't see too often. Very happy, so I am upgrading my score overall to 5. I am also posting a couple additional photos to specifically show the lock "keeper" now properly installed and point out the screw that controls the extension of the lock.

                    Great Door
I bought this door to replace an Anderson wood slider that couldn't handle the north-facing exposure (rotted.) My installer refused to read directions but had good gut instincts to get the job done right. The door feels "massive" - like a "bank vault". I am happy I bought it.
