Great plainer,better quality than others

I've always used teaditional hand planers. Never used a powered version before. Works just like a joiner and is more quiet than I thought it'd be. Planed down one edge of a pile of 2x8x16s a depth of 3/32" and two passes to get rid of the crazy rough stuff and it did an awesome job, effortlessly. How long the blades will last and having to sharpen/replace and realign them are unknowns at this point. I'd have to own this for a year before I can review those things.

The tool required a little set up. But that was as easy done. It planes nicely now

I am happy with the overall quality of the planer however as others have stated it is disappointing that a chip bag is not included. I would have been satisfied if a planer to vacuum adapter was included. Other than uncontrolled dust and chip collection this planer will do a good job.

Makita tools never let me down on there quality

This tool would be ideal for planing a door, though be careful at the edges. It was useless for my purpose: resurfacing a butcher block countertop. The gouges were constant no matter how careful I was. 4.5 hours spent sanding them out. I kept thinking that as each gouge developed, I could just smooth the gouge edge smoothie. Nope. A major headache, and it goes right back. In its favor, a far better blade installation system than Wen.

This planer has plenty of power, I am glad that I purchased this one. Be able to adjust all the doors, saved me tons of time. Very satisfied with the item.

I purchased this planer to work on a new fireplace mantel. It was easy to use and did exactly what I needed it to do. The case is sturdy and convenient for storage. I would have appreciated a debris removal attachment included for easier clean up but I used it outside so not deal breaker. If you use this indoors, buy the shop vac attachment or allow extra time for a lot of clean up.

Not a bad tool, lacks some features. No way to set an offset angle for door edges.

Bought to plane bifold closet doors that were an inch too wide. Tool worked perfectly for the job. Have not used it beyond that yet

4.5 Stars. The planer itself is awesome! Does a fantastic job, and worth every penny in my opinion. The kit could use one small improvement: There’s an adapter that you can buy for $6 to connect a shop vacuum to the tool. It does make a mess without it. Being that it’s a mere $6, this should really be included in the kit. Dust bag would be pointless, but the vac hose attachment would eliminate the inconvenience of finding and ordering that piece

I was familiar with the product already because I presently own one. I was giving this one as a present to my son. Unfortunately, when I came in to purchase one H.D. was out of stock. They told me that one was coming in the next day possibly.I live too far from H.D.to come in everyday so I came back in a week later to pick it up. It all worked out OK. JM

I had a lot of planing to do on a renovation job and bought a $45 planer from Harbor Freight … which promptly died about 2 hours into using it. I decided to buck up and get a good one from home depot and this Makita was a BEAST!! Made easy work of the job and was very easy to handle. It is a little challenging to change the blades but I think thats the industry standard for planers- I just wish someone would figure out a better solution. Also I dont see any value in buying a dust bag because it does create so much dust youd have to empty it way too often but I would look into buying the vaccuum attachment to ease the clean up

great machine. I had a hard time getting the blades to drop from the factory settings. It took a lot of complete turns of the dial, but then it worked beautifully. have yet to try in on a serious woodworking project.
