I purchased this as a replacement for a fixture with a failed ballast. The cost of the fixture was less than the cost of a new ballast. Installation was easy, even with the limited instructions included. The sockets at the end of the tubes have to be installed into the fixture. They just snap into place, and the included instructions explain which socket has to go where. The only thing that wasn't covered in the instructions is how to use the enclosed clip to secure the cover. Fortunately another reviewer here explained that, so it wasn't a problem. This fixture does not include a cord, a switch, or any mounting hardware. If you're replacing an existing fixture this isn't a problem. If you're installing a new fixture where there wasn't one before then this probably isn't what you're looking for.

The price is excellent. Easy to set up. I give the fixture 4 stars because is I wished the light fixture had come with a shroud to channel the light downward.

Not very high quality. Also, wrong size of ballast. Didn't realize the new fixture was T 8 and I needed T 12. Had to go buy a new ballast.

An interesting exercise in not using screws but poorly manufactured. Not provided with wire nuts and not provided with a power chord or grommet. The spring clip to hold the cover in place only just does the job - make sure you don't lose it. By the time you add the bits you nee and the time to overcome the manufacturing quality issues coming from using such thin metal with a clip together design - its clear this low cost product is better left in the stock pile. Save time and $ get a better product.

it was ok.... had to assemble it but that was very quick....

I purchased 10 lights, only 5 worked. I returned the 5 faulty lights purchased 4 new ones of which only 3 worked. Those installed worked as expected no complaints.

These light are just what the doctor ordered. I had really old fixtures and florescent lights in my kitchen. The fixtures had been there since the house was built in the 80's. The lights would always flicker and sometimes one wouldn't come on. The actual terminals that you twist the lights into were all worn out where the light would sit loosely in the terminal. So it was just time for a replacement. It was time for the fixture, ballasts, and fluorescent lights to go. I chose these particular fixtures because they were the same brand as the fixtures that were already installed in my kitchen. I know that doesn't matter but it helped choosing a fixture out of the plethora of lighting fixtures home depot had in stock a little easier. Besides that they came included with the Rapid Start Electronic Ballasts, which was a big plus to me. Asked an employee in the electrical department which LED lights would work would these particular fixtures. He proceeded to point me to the Philips lights in the purple boxes that were supposed to be plug and play for just about any ballast. So I purchased 4 of them. Got home. Got these fixtures installed. Proceeded to testing them with a fluorescent light that I knew was working and they fired up. Took the Fluorescent light out and installed the LED lights that I purchased and they did not work. So i look on the box of the LED lights and in very very small print and a tiny illustration it says that the lights only worked with magnetic ballasts. So once again as I have experienced many times in the past. The home depot employee was wrong and costed me gas and time making another trip back to the store. I returned the philips lights and picked up the Feit Electric LED lights which each cost a few bucks more than the Philips but they work with Electronic ballasts. Got them home and installed and wallah. They fired right up. For anyone interested the model for the Feit Electric lights I used is model# T48/841/LED/RP Anyway these fixtures are great. The only thing I did not like was all the unrefined sharp edges on the fixtures that cut me during the installing a couple times before I decided to put on my mechanics gloves. Other than that these fixtures work great. They installed easily with no problems and fired right up. The lights lock into the terminals nice and snug like they should. Installation is fairly easy and straight forward. These fixtures do not come with any instructions. They simply come with a paper diagram on which terminal should be across from the other. So if you have never installed lighting such as this before. The lack of directions might present a problem for you. All and all. I am happy with my purchase and the fact that it game me a little project to do on an otherwise uneventful saturday.

When brought out from behind the pick up counter I noticed the end of one box had been opened and tightly resealed with tape. My installer found one end of the fixture to have been crushed. By using pieces from the old T12, it was made to work.

Easy to install and reasonably priced. I have about 10 of these throughout my basement and garage and they work great.

I bought and returned two of these this week. Both had bad ballasts.

cheap materials and design

The "ON" and "OFF" switch panel was bent and came off the lighting panel and the chain to pull was recessed into the cavity. Had a hard time to get it out. In the future make the chain (ON/OFF) a little longer in case the panel does come off again in an accident. Thank you.

Fixture installed easily and wiring was straight forward.
