A:  Luck of the draw with all of the various types and sizes it seems (tho' I always had fewer issues with the old style Larger Bulbs I gotta say) I have had at least 2 dozen of them. Some work flawlessly for years, others go through tubes, some lose ballast resistors (cheaper to just get a new fixture when that happens) my Brother-in-Law has been using the new LED ones without a glitch. When I need to update; I will switch to those! (BTW, cold weather starts and frequent on/off seem to be related to frequent bulb failure in my experience) good luck!

A:  There is a difference between 'cheap' and 'inexpensive'. This fluorescent system is cheap and was difficult to assemble and install. Having said that, mine have functioned well since their installation. Why your system would burn out tubes abnormally quickly, I can''t say. My suspicion would be a faulty ballast. But to swap out, the ballasts you might as well get a new (BETTER) fluorescent tube system. Sorry that my opinion could not optimistic.

              by|Dec 19, 2018

A:  CONITIOUS BULB ISSUES IS THE INCOMING POWER NOT THE LAMP ITSELF. I'D CHECK THE GROUND SIDE FIRST, THEN USE A VOLTMETER AND CHECK FOR LOW CURRENT. BULBS WILL LIGHT WITH LOWER VOLTAGE BUT IT STRAINS THE BULBS. ALSO WHERE IS THIS MOUNTED BULBS ARE SENSITIVE TO VIBRATIONS.

              by|Dec 20, 2018

A:  Only 2 things can malfunction in a fluorescent fixture. Ballast or tubes. My guess is the ballast which is replaceable. There is the outside chance you got a bad batch of fluorescent tubes. Half dozen or so tubes will cost what a new ballast would.

Q:is this "straight wired" or a plug in?

A:  These lights come as for hard (straight) Wiring but you can add a cord if you can match the wires in polarity, black to black and white to white which is common colors for US 120 volts. I hope this helps

A:  The Lithonia fluorescent light fixture does not come pre-wired with a cord and plug. You can install a cord with plug yourself or you can hard wire/straight wire with electrical cable.

A:  It's not a plug in it will need to be wired directly to a junction box.

A:  THE lumens produced completely depends upon the bulbs that you use.

A:  There are no bulbs included so it would depend on the bulbs you use.

A:  that depends on the bulbs you put in it.

A:  This is only 1 strip that supports 2 lights. Each type of light documents the lumens, not the light strip. Read the tube light box to select the lumens you are looking for.

Q:What size are the mounting holes? I need to get toggle bolts or something to install in drywall and need to know what size. Also, does it need a grommet to protect the power supply wire? I want to bring power in through a knockout in the center. I have romex wiring.

A:  On this type of fixture additional 1/4 inch mounting holes can be drilled as required for your particular application. I would suggest 1/4 inch toggle bolts. You will need a 1/2 inch romex connector. If the location is not correct you will need to make a 1/2 inch hole at that point.

A:  YOU WILL NEED 1/8 TOGGLE BOLTS. THERE ARE DIFFERENT SIZE HOLES IN UNIT. I WOULD CHECK WIRING CODES FOR YOUR LOCATION.

A:  The mounting holes are big enough for a #12 wood screw which is way overkill for mounting these lights. The holes are large enough to fit a small toggle bolt through them. The mounting holes can easily be drilled out and made bigger with a drill bit. Making the holes bigger to fit a toggle bolt through them is not going to hurt the fixture at all.

A:  There are several possible mounting holes - 2 near each end are about 1/4 diameter. I used self drilling spiral anchors 50lbs. version where the screw head is big enough not to go through, if you use a smaller screw juts use a washer. You will need 2 wire nuts, a grommet and the power chord. This is a lightweight cheapo product do yourself a favor - pay slightly more for a more complete unit.

                                  by|May 5, 2023

A:  The fixture has 1/4 inch diameter holes that should be large enough for toggle bolt mounting. If the holes are not in the location you want then drill your own holes in the fixture for mounting. You can use a Romex twin screw clamp with locknut to secure the Romex cable to the knockout hole in the fixture. You should not need a grommet to protect the Romex cable.
