Fantastic coverage and great color!
Fantastic coverage and great color! We had to use it on a textured bathroom ceiling. No idea why the previous owners made it textured. We chipped away the peeling paint and applied the Kilz (Mold and Mildew). It looks amazing now!

Worked perfect for our older RV remodel project.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this to help with some mildew and Oder issues while remodeling our older RV I believe was stored in a barn. It worked wonderfully and made the painting project go much quickly with less coats of paint.

    Works Great on old wood

      Works the best
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was painting my oak bathroom cabinets, kilz kitchen an bath primer was the only primer that adhered to the cabinet doors and frame, which made the white base coat to flow easy and cover great.

Kill Mold and Mildew interior/exterior primer work
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have used this product on mold in our basement wall and also on sub-flooring in several spots inside our renovation project. It covers great, dries quickly, and there is little odor.

Great Results in Our AC Closets
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have a client with over 300 units in South Florida, with all the humidity and rain mold can build up quickly. We started implementing as part of our schedule maintenance to paint all AC closets with Kilz Mold & Mildew Primer and the results have been great!

            Did not like this
With this many positive reviews it seemed great before I started to paint. Its not sticky at all over joint compound. I cleaned the walls very thoroughly before. See picture. The coverage is ok but It’s the worst primer I’ve painted with.

Hi Andre - Thank you for your review. I'm sorry to hear that this primer isn't sticking to the joint compound on your walls. Based on your picture, it looks like the primer may be pulling off the surface in these areas. To fix the finish, I recommend adding up to 4 oz. of water per gallon to your primer, mixing it in thoroughly, then re-priming. For further assistance with your project, please feel free to reach out to us directly. We'd be happy to help. - Sara Kilz

                Difficult to apply
I bought this product to repaint our bathrooms. From starters, the product was too dense. Since there were no instructions about adding water to thin it, I used a standard paint roller. The results were horrible, as the primer would no adhere well to the paint or cover pores on the surface. Moreover, it would not spread uniformly and require extreme pressure on the roller. With sore arms, I added some water to the primer in the pan, which thinned the primer a bit but did not improve coverage. See the photos below. I want to know how I fix this mess, as I am not going to paint on the primer until I get it right.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We applied 2 coats of kilz to our base floor in our van renovation prior to laying linoleum. I feel confident that kilz has created a safe barrier for the floor!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I had a mild issue in my bathroom and I decided to try KILZ and it was the best thing I could have ever done. I cleaned and scraped the area: The mold dissapeared and was never to be seen again. It was amazing and I'm glad I went with my gut feeling to use this product because it was worth it.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I had an old cast iron connection wear through and leak in my walls. I ripped the wall apart and replaced the connection with PVC. There were no visible mold or mildew, just water stains on the drywall. I sprayed the wall down with bleach just in case, let it dry out for a week, and then painted the entire inside of the wall with Kilz Mold and Mildew. I wasn't so much concerned about the stain as I was eliminating any odor and preventing future mold growth if a new leak were to occur. After I painted, I left it open for a week, and the water stain never bled through and the odor was gone. It was going to be concealed, so it didn't matter if the water stain was there, but if it had been a visible surface, it wouldn't have been an issue.

Works exceptionally well - see the attached pictures. If you've ever tried to cover-up a water stain with regular paint its nearly impossible. No matter how many coats you put on the stain eventually seems to come through. I've used other stain-blocking paints over the years but none have worked as well as this one. One coat and the stain was completely gone.

I have been using many of Kilz products for over 35 years and see no reason to stop any time soon. I know that paint and primer are being mixed together in many of today's paint products, but I'm not comfortable with them in bathrooms, kitchens and basements. I have not had any issues with mildew or mold after using Kilz primers. I'm not saying this primer will solve all mildew problems, but combined with proper ventilation I've had no problems. Great for stains too.

I used this water-base KILZ mold and mildew primer product to repaint over a dry ceiling that had drywall staining caused by attic condensation. It worked well in one coat. I waited a day and then applied two finish paint coats. No staining has shown through. I also used this product to paint over primed drywall in a bathroom that had mold growth as the previous homeowner had used the bathroom in the relatively new home over a period of about six months without a paint finish coating. I first washed the affected drywall using a TSP substitute product in warm water and then used one coat of this KILZ product, then finishing with a semi-gloss finish paint in two coats. There is no sign of mold growth since repainting and using this bathroom regularly for showering. I used a brush for cutting in and a roller for large area application. Coverage was even and excellent. This product apparently has significantly more titanium dioxide than standard primers since it has great stain hiding power. Cleanup of the application tools was easy with warm detergent water. This KILZ primer has very low odor and dries enough in 30 minutes for recoating, other pluses in what I consider and excellent product.

I have a lot of faith in Kilz paint, it has been around so long and met so many wet basements! I am glad to have had a chance to use some on top of yet another type of spray paint, and the coverage is super great, even working on cinder block which does require some effort. This looks like the one coat I used is going to be sufficient for this area. I am very pleased, and satisfied with Kilz Mold and Mildew treatment!

My house is older and needs a bunch of touch up paint spots. This is a primer but is good enough to be the outside layer. The gallon is more than enough to do a small room. I’m using it for trim. Make sure to tighten top to reuse.

I would NEVER use any other product when priming walls that are moldy (like in bathrooms or basements) or need extra coverage (like a kids room with magic marker on the wall) because KILZ MOLD AND MILDEW 1 GAL. WHITE WATER BASED INTERIOR AND EXTERIOR PRIMER, SEALER AND STAIN-BLOCKER is simply the best product out there. I have been using Kilz products for 35 years and would recommend their primers to anyone who needs superior coverage as a paint base.

Exactly what our basement walls needed. Over the years portions of the block walls in our basement had become discolored and stained. This KILZ paint was the solution we needed to freshen things up. It offers very good coverage with only a few areas requiring a second cost. I have just applied these coats today so I cannot speak to the longevity of coverage. However, I’ve used KILZ products in the past and have never been disappointed. I have no reason to believe this product won’t supply the same level of long term satisfaction.

The KILZ name is synonymous with "Quality". I have used product with the KILZ name for years, prime on so many surfaces, and even popcorn ceilings. I am anxious t use the Mold & Mildew, interior / exterior primer on my block basement walls. I know this quality primer is dependable and easy to get great coverage, easily and easy clean up as it's water based. I have first hand experience that this will block stains like food, smoke, grease and so many more. I can use this on wood, drywall, block, plaster, metal, and so many more surfaces. Absolutely no disappointments in this name.

We used Kilz mold and mildew resistant paint in our bathroom/shower almost five years ago. After a remodel ( some new drywall but not all) we primed both walls and ceiling. It was easy to apply and had a nice consistency. It gave a nice finish and we then put two coats of finish paint on and it looks beautiful and even better yet we have not seen any mold or mildew. It can be used on pretty much any surface, wood, drywall, plaster, brick, stucco, metal. My Mom is just finishing up a remodel on her bathroom which has had problems with mildew (she only has a fan, no window) and we will be painting it in December and getting our supplies together and we knew we had to use this primer. The product does have some odor to it. While the can looks different it’s the same great product. I would highly recommend.

The mold and mildew product from this brand is an excellent product, I have used regular Kilz for years and have been very pleased, and there is no difference here. I used outdoors for my first use, as I have some exterior trim prone to mold. So with the addition of the mold and mildew inhibitors I expect excellent results without any reduction in the stain blocking properties, which is important to me due to resin bleed on some of my trim.
