Doesn't work with a Hampton Bay Glendale
I bought a Hampton Bay Glendale 52 inch fan and this was the down rod the staff recommended (and the only 4 foot down rod in stock). I then took all this home (30 miles) and hired somebody to do the installation (14 foot tall ceiling). The work man came and examined it, and said it would not work, and he showed me how the pin hole doesn't match up. "I'll have to cut it, and drill a hole," He said. I said "I'll take it back and get one that will work." So the next day, Saturday, I went back to Home Depot (30 miles) to return it and the sales person said, "Yes it will work" and questioned whether the person I had hired knew what they were doing. She even called an electrician with Home Depot, home office or something, and he said "Oh yes, it will work." So I didn't return the rod, I took it home, 30 miles. My wife and I talked it over and decided before we hired another work man, she'd take the fan back and the rod and make Home Depot show us how it fit. So she went back (30 miles) and the sales staff called some expert staffer over and he attempted to make it fit and it did not work. It did not fit. The pin does not line up with a Hampton Bay Glendale. It was too long (on the threaded end). So long story short, she came home, lugging the fan and the rod, the workman came back a few days later, sawed the rod, drilled a hole, and now it's done. It cost me gas back and forth, extra money for the work man's time. DO NOT BUY THIS ROD UNLESS YOU HAVE HOME DEPOT PROVE IT WILL FIT YOUR CEILING FAN!

Fine for what it does, but the pin hole at the bottom is not compatible with Home Decorators fans
The threaded end that goes into the fan motor should have a hole that will line up with the slot in the motor. At least for two different Home Decorators "Merwry" fans, the pipe will not thread in sufficiently to get the pipe hole and the motor hole into the same position. I think the pipe hole is too far away from the end of the pipe. Though this means you can't use the pin to lock the pipe into place, it's not a huge problem since the two set screws ought to be sufficient to keep the motor and pipe from unscrewing from each other. You'd think, however, that Hunter\Hampton Bay\Home Decorators would have standardized their specs so that these downpipes would be interchangeable. I'd still recommend it because the hassle of finding an appropriate substitute isn't worth the benefit.

        Good value.
This down rod was purchased to extend the installed length of a Hampton Bay fan. It fit well and was easy to install.

        Too long for its description
It is billed as a downtrodden for an 11' ceiling. Silly me. If you add some 20 +. Inches for the fan and a few to spare, then it is low.
