We ordered a door which came with one collar and then ordered an additional collar for our second dog. The door works fine. The collars fell apart multiple times in less than a month. When I contacted Home Depot to have the collars replaced I was told that I would have to purchase two additional collars and then return the old ones with that receipt. These collars are very cheaply put together. Should last longer than a month for the price you pay for the door.

They work perfectly, but are not as water resistant as advertised.

The 13 year old dog learned very quickly and we love that she can get outside whenever she needs to. Wish they made a smaller version that I could put on the cat!

Love the product ability but it is poorly put together. The unit came apart on the dog (most likely when she scratched herself). We then had to search the house for the missing pieces. We put tape around the unit to keep it together. It would work better for us if it attached to a collar easier. The battery doesn't last as long as we would have expected and they are not readily available in our area. So we purchased several to have as back up. Overall we love what the product can do for us as a regular dog door allowed stray animals to enter the house. I do not want to ever return to the regular door. Some minor tweaking of the product design would sure be helpful but again the product works good for us!

Thank you for carrying this product. I love the doggy door that this opens. The door keeps out the snakes, bobcats and others. We know that only the dog with this collar can get in and out.

Works Perfectly

High Tech Pet electronic pet collar and door are overalll great products. The door has been very dependabl and durable. The collars have not been as durable as desired. We are on our third collar. Batteries have been even less efficient. Wish collars and batteries were available in the retail stores.

This operates an electric pet door and is a great idea. I think the door was a bit expensive, but for the convenience you can't beat it. Two dogs and one cat here and they all use the door that this collar works with, AMAZING!

The device arrived in a timely manner from my order date which was a good thing. Unfortunately the entire top casing fell off within two days of putting it on my dog. Luckily I found it in the yard. I snapped it back together hoping the device would still work. It worked intermittently and I was sometimes having to let my dog out or in...which defeats the purpose of having the collar. Well here we are a little over a month later and most of the device broke off of the collar it comes attached to. There is one very small piece of cheap plastic left on the collar. By far this is the worse made and worse quality product I have EVER purchased!!! I paid almost 40.00 for it plus 7.00 for a warranty. (This is the first time in 2 years that a warranty is offered.It should be free.) I have had the electronic doggie door for two years. I have purchased approximately 12 collars over these 2 years at almost 40.00 each including shipping. This is much more than I ever expected to have to purchase. In concept the electronic doggie door is a great idea. It is very nice to have when my dog wants to go outside or in during all hours of the day or night. When the device is so incredibly cheap that it falls apart after 2 days, I may as well not even have the electronic door. What a waste of money, time and again!!! I would love to get rid of the electronic door all together, which doesn't work so well in Ohio's winter weather by the way. I am trying to figure out how to pay for repairs on the large whole that would be left if it is removed. If you can get away with not buying this electronic door which was approximately 350.00, with these very cheaply made collars you will be better off without it unless you don't mind blowing 40.00 every few months or so. Please do not waste your money!!!

Finally a water proof collar which opens my dog door. Having to unscrew the back to replace the battery is a slight nuisance, but it works! The collar is really waterproof. Have not had to replace it after my Hound goes swimming. Same battery life as the old (discontinued) collars. Also much better battery holder than the old. Looks modern. Very pleased!

Since this collar is the ONLY method where the electronic dog door works with your pet having access at their schedule, there is no choice but to buy this collar. One collar/sensor comes with the unit, but since we have two dogs, had to buy an additional collar at a hefty price of $35+. The collar and unit work fine but the fabric of the collar itself is not of the best quality. Once the webbed fabric is cut to size, it will fray unless you "melt" the tip. There is no buckle, only two very small D-rings so the collar tends to loosen over time. Since the webbed fabric is thin, about 1/4" wide, unless your pet has short hair around the neck area, the sensor may not always pick up their approach so the door doesn't always open in a timely manner. We have a small (14 pounds) and a medium (20 pounds) sized dog and opted for the smaller door (8" x 10" opening). Our smaller dog has longer hair which sometimes covers the sensor. However, if I was able to fit the sensor onto his regular width collar (3/4 inch), I believe it would work better. That being said, the collar with sensor doesn't appear to be too heavy and my dogs don't object to wearing it. I can't comment on the battery life yet but according to the manufacturer comments, there should be a long life to it. Overall am pleased with the concept of the product

I purchased an electronic dog door, with which I am very happy. However, just two months after the purchase the collar remote came apart while one of the dogs was outside and I had to replace it. This same thing has occurred three subsequent times. There is a minimally effective locking mechanism on the remote which after a time just falls apart leaving the dogs with no way in/out. I've tried taping the remote closed, which lasts a little longer. There should be a better way to close these items so the battery and door remote are safe - I have now purchased 10 collars for my three dogs. This is really ridiculous.

This collar is advertised as the consumer being able to easily change the battery. We love the electronic door, but we have probably bought 20 collars in 3 years. The battery is near impossible to replace, keeping the unit working and cost effective. Also, the clasp on the collar is a D ring, very small and hard to fasten and unfasten, especially on an active dog. They should change the design to incorporate some kind of clip on/off design.

The one thing most defective on the product is how easy it is for the cover to come off if accidentally dropped and the testing pin to fall out, never to be found again. However when its time to change the battery its like trying to pry open something that has been super glued shut you can't use your fingers you need a tiny screwdriver. Very odd. Other than that it works fine for our dogs. For future production maybe a collar that is half the size that uses the batteries made for watches would be better. Someone said our dogs look like they are wearing garage door openers lol.

I bought two for my cats. Both became lost after just two days. Very expensive to lose that quickly. I made sure that they were not too loose and did property attach them. I am very disappointed. The door unit worked well, but isn't worth anything without the collar units.

The unit should be made so that you can install the dog collar through it. Now my dog has two collars on it and the one with the unit is cheap! It should also be water proof. When we take our dogs to the lake we have to remove it. Oh and did I tell you how small the collar is, it hard to remove.

4 stars .. The product does the job on my 2 grey hounds,day after day ,until the battery runs out . There is always room for inprovment.to make it 5 star. Better cap security for battery compartment, better way to secure it to the collar. My dogs give the product a very good test

These are the best things in the world! We have 3 dogs and with the collars that work with the automatic doors, there's nothing better than your dogs coming in and going out as they please! No getting up and letting them in and out. Plus no other varments can get in your house. Best thing we have ever bought!!!!

These collars are easy to use and battery replacement is a breeze. I don't know why people are complaining about replacing a simple battery! A trained monkey could do it! I do wish the batteries were more readily available and I would like it if they offered a version that attached to the dog's collar instead of having to use 2 collars.

If someone has had success replacing the batteries on these collars and getting the collar to work, I would like to know the trick. The collar battery goes out and when I put in a new one, snap everything back together, the collar will not work. This has happened every time with several collars. It is expensive having to buy a new collar every four months or so. The electronic dog door is great when the collar works, but there really should be a disclaimer when buying the door letting you know what you are getting into. The collars are expensive and when you multiply that by x times per year, you quickly are up to the amount of $ you originally spent on the door! If I had it to do over, I would not buy the electronic door until they get the collar designed to last/work more than the life of one battery.

I have 2 dogs that play with each other and the remotes are easily chewed off the collar or the back plate pops off which holds the battery. They are made of very thin plastic and more for light or indoor use.

The electronic door is ok, it has it's glitches, however, the collars are absolute junk! I have ordered 8 collars and within less than a year, they have not worked properly, even after replacing with the manufacturers fresh battery. In addition, the warranty on the collar is only 90 days. Had I been aware of the poor design, I would have never ordered the electronic door to begin with.

These collars break frequently, never last long. Even when you change the batteries they barely last. I have to buy a new collar every month for 3 different dogs. I'm tired of spening over a $100 a month on 3 collars. Hi-Tech Pet needs to make a bette collar. I spoke to them on the phone and they admitted they have a poorly-designed transmitter collar. I suggest they supply these collars for free, including replacement collars until they get it right. The collars do not last a year or even a month. I've tried over 30 collars and they all break quickly.

I love my automatic doggy door, don't get me wrong! it's just a shame that they don't make their collars as durable as their doors. I have 2 dogs and have been through over a dozen collars. And be sure to keep extra collars on hand because when they decide that they are going to stop working your $350. door is completely useless. VERY FRUSTRATING

I have used High Tech pet doors for years. My first automatic pet door I got rid of because the collars kept breaking. I bought another auto pet door years later thinking the problems with collars would have been fixed, they weren't. I found that if you take electrical black tape, or duck tape cut to be thinner, and wrap it around the collar unit with the writing, (so as to not block sensor) the collar lasts. I used to go through them like water, by taping, my dog has had the same one on for over a year!!
