very good machine for apartment or small space
After 23 years, we had to replace our combination washer/dryer. The new machine is very good size and dries more quickly than the old one did. The washing time seems longer, but the results are excellent. The machine does make some strange sounds and I prefer to set the water level myself rather than using the "auto" setting as I don't feel it puts in enough water to thoroughly clean. The negative is that there is no light on the machine so I must turn on the kitchen light in order to see well inside. Overall, I highly recommend it.

    Great Spin Cycle
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Washer makes a lot of funny noises, but works well. Plus the spin cycle is awesome - the clothes need hardly any drying time.

This product is a great space saver
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This unit is a great way to save space. Often people forget to utilize vertical space. This GE unitized unit effectively uses vertical space. Another feature is the convenience of the dryer being overhead saves from bending over to reach clothes. This is a great buy!

Warning: Washer does not work with hoses including check valves.
install using Home Depot purchased 6 ft braided washing machine hoses with check valves. No water getting into washer. Needed to replace with ho0ses purchased at local hardware without check valves. Now works fine ... so far.

Nice solution for a tight space.
I bought this to replace a separate washer and dryer in my vacation home. Because I rent it in addition to using it myself I needed a full size washer not an apartment size model. This unit has a large washer and dryer. It is quieter than the 20 years old units it replaced. It does make a weird clicking noise that will make you think there is a problem. But it is a normal noise. It does a good job. My only concern is if 1/2 of the unit breaks you have to replace the whole thing. But I like the extra space in my utility closet.

This product does an excellent job.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I really like my GE unitized spacemaker washer and dryer as it does an excellent job and makes doing laundry very easy. I chose this unit because my laundry facilities are in my small kitchen and this saved valuable space and allowed me more cupboard and counter space. Both washer and dryer have the capacity for very large loads. This was a replacement of two single units that I have had in use now for 4 months.

It does okay, but I do not recommend overall
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] It is convenient to have the machines stack and the features are good. It broke down almost immediately, but this is not a big issue as the repair was covered under warranty. However, both the washer and the dryer tend to twist clothing into knots every load (even on lower settings) and buttons seem to get pulled off of shirts about every other load. Machines I’ve used in the past only did this once in a while. Overall, I would not recommend this washer/dryer combo.

                Nice unit, very quiet.
Have had it for 3 weeks, so far so good. Just hoping it last much longer than it predecessor, a Fridigare unit that only lasted 16 months. I was told by serviceman it would cost more to repair it than to by a new one.

                Very disappointed with my purchase
I purchased this unit on Mar 12 2012, I even agreed to purchase the Extended warranty. This unit were purchased for washing towels in my salon; the same towels I washed at home a few months earlier and my is still working fine. Last week the washer would not works; it just idle and the lights are flashing. I contacted Home Depot and was told to contact the Manufacturer for any issue in the first year. I called GE and explain to them what my washer and dryer are doing (or rather NOT doing), they sent a Tech to my location. He did something and got the washer working again but today the same thing happen. They are sending the Tech again tomorrow. I hope they can fixed it!!! Did I make a mistake purchasing this unit? I hope not.

                  Overall satified
I have only had this product for one month so I cannot say how this product will serve me long-term. So far, I have had no issues with either the washer or the dryer. The machine is very quiet and performs as expected. Based on my research, this unit was great value for the included features.

On day one the dial broke from the dryer, it was stripped and entire unit had to be replaced
Knob broke a second time this week. Cant believe you sell products with this poor quality, I bought an extended waranty because I dont think this is a product that will last.

                  Not my best purchase
Got this delivered yestereday, dryer works great! Washer not so much. Won't fill unless lid is open, when lid is closed fills for a short period and stops. Won't fill to water level. No cold water, checked hook-ups, still no cold water will come in, possible bad water valve. Not too impressed.

                  Good while it lasted.
I have had this unit for just over a year and it worked great! Unfortunatly it died just over warranty. I would not buy again becuase of longivity of use.

Once it was repaired and working properly, it's a great machine.
Washer/dryer was delivered broken. Part needed to be replaced on dryer. GE warranty fixed after weeks of waiting for repair appointments. Very disappointed in Home Depot customer service (I was told they would hook up gas upon delivery which was incorrect) and back order issues. Again, washed was delivered not functioning which was unacceptable. Will never purchase Home Depot major appliance or a GE product again bc of this.

                    Very happy with this unit!
This unit replaces a Maytag that we had for twenty years. It is bigger so it does not fit exactly into the closet that was designed for the Maytag but the machine itself is great.

                    Limitations of the product
The machine has been freezing on a periodic basis and works well when the power is reset. Maybe the product i got has a technical snag. The knobs are flimsy, hopefully GE recognizes this and makes appropriate design chages. The last problem is that you will lose buttons from shirts during the spin and rinse cycle. Please verify these before u buy.

Great Machine Once I got it
I ordered the washer/dryer stack on August 22nd and though a comedy of errors it was delivered on November 4th. It is a wonderful machine that utilizes a direct drive motor instead of transmission gears. The lack of transmissions means the stack is quieter than a standard top loader. The unit can handle heavy loads and the electronic controls gives a wide range of washing options. I would purchase this machine again.

Works in the beginning, but then...
Bought this unit July 2011, worked okay for a couple months, then started stalling on rinse/spin cycle, lights flashing, humming, but not working. Called repair in October, said it needed a new part (2 months old?). A week later called to check on status, was told 2 of 3 parts ordered (3 new parts for a new machine??) came in but waiting for one more. Called again a week later, was told GE said 3rd part not available until January 30, 2012. That's in 3 months. Right. Was told if repair place couldn't get the part in a week, that GE would replace or "buy-down" the machine. Will demand replacement but worried that I'll get another defective machine. Do NOT buy this machine until there are more positive than negative reviews.

                        Poor Quality, Worse Customer Service
My unit broke 2 months after purchasing it. What was worse is that the GE customer service repair scheduled a warranty call and cancelled on me not once or twice but three times. At the time of me writing this I still can't use my machine. GE actually asked me to call a repair guy out of the yellow pages and pay for it myself and they would reimburse me the cost. Too freaking funny. This unit may just be a lemon and I get that but don't expect any help from them should this happen to you. Buy another machine!!!!!!

                          Pretty much what I expected
I bought this model because it has the largest washer capacity of all of the stacked units. It doesn't look any larger, but the tub is actually quite a bit deeper, which is great. Another review mentioned that the tub does not fill all the way to the top, and that is true, even when set for an extra large load. However, knowing that, you just don't cram the washer to the top with clothes, it still holds more than my old unit. Only thing I wish it had is lights. No light in dryer or over washer, and since my unit is in my garage, it was nice to not have to turn on the garage lights to do laundry, but not a big deal. VERY quiet, almost a problem, because my old unit made so much noise when spin drying I always knew when a load was done. Now I have to remember to go check :) Only had it for a day, but so far so good, and anything is an improvement over my 25 year old previous unit. Will update review if anything changes.

                          Economic for sure!
So i purchased this item early May and i have to say its much more efficient than my old kenmore unit. It is on the small side, so i have to get used to that. The water is also on the low side....i set it to extra load and it didn't quite fill up to the top and some of my clothes were not submerged in water. Overall, it was worth the money....i just hope it lasts.
