pretty close to excellent
For ease of use for the accessories, this is excellent. the shape is excellent , it can sit on the counter out of the way and is available to me whenever I need it. However, it is NOT easy to seal the bags, whether pre-cut or on the roll. You have to wiggle and wiggle and then hope you catch it just right before it'll work. Once you get it to work, you're good. but this is why i only gave it 4 stars instead of 5.

Great Gift
This unit was purchased as a gift for a daughter-in-law. I have one and love it. She is very please to have one. She is very value conscious and will get a lot of use from it.

Excellent Products
I love this product! It is so easy to use. I have been vacuum sealing leftovers and partial packages of cream cheese. They keep so much longer!!
There is only 2 of us at home, so freezing things like leftover lasagna is so helpful. A lot less food wasted!
Every house should have one!!

I love this sealer.
It is very easy to use. I really like the way it stores the wrap in the sealers. Also I really like the cutter that comes with it. The wrap is cut straight, which makes it easier to seal.

Liked mine so much, I bought one for my mom
My wife and I received the foodsaver as a wedding gift. We have enjoyed the ability to stockpile meat that we get on sale without the fear of freezer burn. There is a small learning curve because the rolls can be finicky at times, but it has never been a major issue. Based on our experiences, we have bought one for my mom for Christmas.

Automatic sealing
is NOT good. Had I known, I never would have bought this model. The auto works sporadic and hard to seal things like chips. Buy the model that has the seal option button ONLY! Also wastes bag material as it takes about 1-1/2" extra to seal.

perfect for the counter & beginner
this was a replacement for my first machine - which I wore out. Found it to be an excellent machine; my only thing was there was no hose included for the canisters or other handheld devices. Otherwise it is excellent value (especially while it is on sale)

Nice upgrade for us
We recently bought the V3340 FoodSaver to replace one we have had for many years. The V3340 is a real nice upgrade. We like that you can leave the front "door" down and it will support the food package as you seal it. We like the power it has and find it does a great job. The automatic start when you push the open end of the bag into the sealing sensors is a great advancement.

great features
I upgraded from simple "suck n seal" older model. Love that I can use rolls or store bought bags. Moist vs dry setting is great! We grow our own vegies n love to preserve them for winter meals. This model also takes minimal space for storage.

Food Saver V3440 Vacuum
Recently purchased this item and the only thing wrong is I keep asking myself why I hadn't purchased something like this years ago. In less than a month I have saved so much money just vacuum sealing things I would normally have thrown out after a few days/week in the fridge.
I use it for cold cuts, meats and cheeses. Flour and sugar (brown and white). I even vacuum sealed the outside weather portion of our weather station so no rain gets on it!
Discovered quickly that this machine needs to be left out on the counter if you want to get the best use. If it is sitting there you just switch on and begin sealing whatever you have in your hands. If it is put away I don't think I would use it as often. This upright version does not take much space and I am living in a 30 ft 5th wheel at the moment while renovating our house! If I can leave it out in a small RV, I don't see any problem finding space for it in the new house.
Great purchase, great savings.

Buy a different model!
I've had this model less then a year. It is the 4th foodsaver that I've owned. This one is difficult to get to recognize there's a bag in it to seal. Sometimes (50%) it only seals part of the bag so I have to reseal it numerous times.
The if I'm doing blanched veggies it will fill the tray numerous times, which I get BUT then the tray full light will not go out! And it is unusable until it decides that the tray is empty and there's no way to over ride it!
For the money this model costs, it should work a lot better then this. Never had this type of problem with less expensive models...

I'm sorry to hear that you're having trouble sealing! It sounds like the problem you're experiencing may be due to excessive liquid in the bag. When vacuum sealing blanched veggies with a lot of liquid we recommend drying the veggies first, or pre-freezing for about 1 hour first which will lock in all of the moisture and help to ensure a great seal. Not liking this model
I am not liking this food savor. I have problems with sealing and getting air out. This is my second sealer and I loved my other one. I thought I would like stand up model but I hate it. There should be a video with this model. I also don,t like waiting to seal bags.

Another greatproduct
I've owned a foodsaver for over 20 years and have been thrilled with them. I'm a hunter, fisherman and gardener, and have given my foodsavers a lot of work. I raised three kids as a single father buying in bulk and preserving that food with a foodsaver. I got the the 3440 model because it is a space saver on my counter, and it works as great as my 2440 model which I will pass down to my youngest daughter. Thanks for your great money saving products.

Have been using the food saver for years!
This is our third one going back to our first one model VAC 550. of which we still have. The product has been made a lot more complex but the product does work as stated. My wife used them and we never had frost burn nor did anything spoil. I am now using it and other than the the other one failing to seal it has been a great product.

Very large machine
I returned it within the 30-day return period. It was considerably bigger than anticipated. I would recommend it if someone wants a machine that large. I found sealing one end of a pint or quart bag much more efficient than cutting from a roll and having to seal both ends. You waste a lot of plastic using a roll. I have since ordered the smaller model.

The sealing bar does overheat when sealing a lot.
This is a good looking product that is easily stored on the counter for ready use because of its upright design. It vacuums and seals easily and well. However, the sealing bar overheats rapidly when sealing several packages at a time and shuts down the unit. We frequently buy whole pork loins or beef loins for strip steaks. When these are cut into chops or steaks there are several packages to seal at one time. Because of the rapidity in which the sealing bar overheats, it takes much longer to vacuum and seal the packages. One has to open the unit and allow the bar to cool. It takes 15 to 20 minutes before it can be used again. It usually takes more than an hour to bag and seal the chops or steaks. If this unit did not overheat as rapidly, I would certainly give it a 5 Star rating.

I'm glad to hear that you're enjoying the design of your vacuum sealer and I have some tips that may help you with the overheating problem.
This particular model is designed to complete 6-8 functions before needing a cool down period. If you plan on vacuum sealing several packages at a time, we recommend using the Seal only function to make all of your bags before filling them with food and vacuum sealing. This way, if the unit requires a cool down, it can rest while you're filling the bags and then you can vacuum and seal each package.
When performing any seal only functions, ensure that you press the Seal button prior to inserting the bag into the FoodSaver. This will allow the FoodSaver to seal one end of the bag without allowing the vacuum pump to come on unnecessarily which can cause the unit to overheat prematurely.

Great help when buying in bulk
We bought this product so we could prepare my own deer meat and it has proven to be a great asset. My wife also coupons and so purchases meats in large quantities when they are on sale. We then repackage in smaller sizes for freezing. Not only is the foodsaver handy, easy to use and reliable but it also saves money in the long run.

Easy to use
This product replaces a FoodSaver I purchased over 14 years ago. It operated by pressing two hands down on the unit. The new product is wonderful. Easy to use and although I have had it only two weeks, I have put it to good use!

Exactly what I ordered and love it
I love my V3440 Vacuum Sealer. It's exactly what I wanted and it's very easy to use. I've used it everyday. If not for sealing meat from the market, I use it for my cooked leftovers. Everything stays fresh and tastes just as good as it did the day I made it. I'm on disability and every penny I can save helps. I'll be using the sealer for my garden vegetables as soon as they are ready. Again, this Vacuum Sealer is everything I expected and very easy to use.

Product is easy to use except for lack of bag prep
Bag prep unavailable without cutter on machine. Otherwise, vacuum sealer is easy to use and hands off during operation makes it labor easy. Would recommend to any medium use operator.

The food saver is so easy to use
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Food Saver doesn't take up much counter space and looks nice besides. I love all the canisters, too. they are great!! They keep everything so fresh--so easy to open then easy to reseal.
