The key shattered upon first use. Did not work at all. Waste of money. Avoid!

We lost our prior key so I bought the full set just to get the key (frustrating but whatever). The first time we tried to use the key it disintegrated into no less than 6 pieces in our hand! We were using it gently and not abusing it in any way. Because we HAVE to get the windows open, I am ordering ANOTHER set but don't hold out much hope based on the other reviews I have read. Very dissatisfied and disappointed that HD would carry something this poorly made.

Product quality inferior. Disintegrated right out of the package. Returned to store without issue and refund applied to my online account quickly. Replaced old locknuts with hex head bolts .

Please add me to the list of extremely dissatisfied customers re. the substandard metal used to manufacture the "special removal keys" for these locksets. I originally purchased and installed a set many years ago, which has served me well. Unfortunately, the original key was lost somehow. To replace it, I purchased a full set last year, but the brand new key disintegrated when I first tried to use it. Hoping to have better luck, I ordered another set .... and the same thing happened soon after I attempted to use it gingerly! I have recently spoken to the manufacturers, who acknowledged that the product is now being constructed with inferior metal .... and is not what it used to be.

Yes, it’s hard to find this product in hardware stores. It provides an extra layer of security in my home. Home Depot got them in really fast and notified me when they were available for pick up. The clerk was exceptionally professional and engaging.

The wrench key broke on the very first attempt at use . It was made of some sort of pot metal and Had a lot of crystalline structure. It was useless.

Tool broke on first use have another tool that has lasted for years not sure what brand it is

The key lock Crumbled after using it right out of the package. Now I have a lock in my window I cannot get out. I will return this product directly to Home Depot as I should not have to spend money for postage to return this darn terrible product!

Special Removal Key has such thin sidewalls that they broke out on the first attempt to use it. This is a waste of your money.

This product should be removed from stock. The keys did not last through the installation of one screw. Four keys broke from minimal force of just turning one screw. Worst purchase I’ve ever made.

My husband put these window locks in our ground level windows many years ago. They work great and are an inexpensive way to make our home more secure. I actually bought this new set because we misplaced the special removal key and I couldn’t find it anywhere else.

Wrench broke immediately with the first use. After three gentle turns with a screw in the socket, the entire side of the wrench broke away. To say that this product -- the wrench at least -- is made of pot metal is an understatement. The screws themselves and the accompanying inserts seem to be just fine.

Easy to install screws but key is made very poorly. It bends very easily & then is unusable. Quite an issue!

Just wish I could get keys without locks

I was pleased to find these locks since I had lost my original removal key. Great security item.

Exactly what I was looking for. Matched the existing hardware and provides that secure closure that I was looking for!

There should be more than one "key" per set of locking screws. I called the manufacturer (of course made in China) to ask if I could purchase additional keys. They said, "No, it only comes as a "set." This was disappointing.

I very carefully pre-drilled my window sashes and inserted the lock, however, the "key" marred and bent on first use. The portion that failed is the flat side that allows you to turn the screw head. This damage makes the concept non functional as you cannot insert or remove other screws with a damaged "key.' I wish I had just used a Philips head screw. I will be returning these.

So glad that HD still had these-I just needed for extra parts in my 55+ year old home that had them when I bought years ago. VERY reasonable price and free shipping! I can pass along the spares to next homeowner. Thanks Home Depot!
