Q:Anybody had any luck contacting First Watch Security regarding the quality of their product? I submitted three inquiries after the wrench/key failed like everyone else's, but never received a response. Looks like their CS is as good as their product quality. Disappointed customer.

A:  I have purchases these years back and love them. That's why I wanted to purchase more, but could find them in any store in Greenville. I went to Garner nc home depot, only to find that I could at least order them on line. If you order them for stock ,you wouldn't have to pay that much for S&H. That was ridiculous

Q:Do you make a KEY that can be used in a Screw/Drill as a bit to quickly screw-in & out the screws? It sure would speed things up when doing multiple windows at one time.

A:  I did the exact same thing as Johnny. Works like a charm.

A:  I have not seen anything like that. It is a good idea though. It does take along time to take the screw lock out/in.

A:  I have only used the key that comes with the kit to get the screws in and out of the windows once installed. No drill is needed. The key makes it easy.

A:  I'm going to answer my own question since, unfortunately, none of my consumer peers were aware of any "key-bit" option being offered...and no answer was ever forthcoming by either HD nor Mfgr. personnel who monitor this Q&A blog. So, I finally went ahead and cutoff the back-end of my window-key, lightly sanded-off the sharpness from the cut, and found that the "stem" was just long enough to insert into my drill-chuck (like a normal bit). I am ecstatic about how well it works and the unbelievable "savings in time", now, to screw-in & remove the screws. It has made using this simple but excellent security system so much easier. Yesterday, I used my self-made bit to remove the screw in each of my ten (10) basement windows to allow fresh air in while doing some touch-up painting. I was able to do all ten (10) windows in a matter of 3-4 minutes. It normally takes me longer than that to get the screw out of just one (1) window and by the time I get the screw out of the 2nd window my wrist is hurting. I'm very surprised that the mfgr. has never offered such a bit as an accessory as it would surely make customers (at least me anyway) much more inclined to purchase additional sets to use throughout their homes. I've used this screw-in-window system on my basement windows for 20 yrs. but now, thanks to my new key-bit, I plan to purchase several additional sets to use on the windows on my main floor. Note To Mfgr.: If you decide to adopt my idea and offer a "key-bit" option for your customer's ease & better utilization of their time, as well as, to increase your sale' quantities, then please be sure to set aside 5% of your increased earnings and/or a $% of each key-bit sale for my royalties! (Yeah, right...)

A:  Key did not wear out ...painter lost it (?!?). Key n Screws sold as a set (at least that is all I could find).

A:  I do home flipping and sometimes have to have these. I have had no luck finding only the key. But hey, for the price you really can't beat it!!

A:  Not that I found. You could try a locksmith business that sells keys etc. and see if they sell these as well, but I doubt the price would be less.

A:  I doubt it. When I was searching for these I only found the set. I have one from the 1950's and wanted another for a second level so I wouldn't have to run up & down the steps all the time. Luckily mine looks good as new. Good Luck!

A:  Lost my key and couldn’t find another one so for less than $5 I bought another set just to have the key.

A:  Unfortunately, the key is not sold separately. I'd also like to add that the key that we received was not engineered properly as the top handle part of the key broke away from the lower part. In other words, it was not welded together properly. A waste of money...

                            by|May 5, 2023

A:  I am unaware of anyone selling the key separately. Home Depot and other online retailers sell the bolts and keys together as a unit.

A:  All the same. My locks were put in sometime in the early 60’s is my guess and I bought a package to replace a lost key. It’s the same as way back then. The locks are on every window of our house and you can use the same “key” for all.

A:  No, all the keys are the same. Beware. The keys are made of pot metal and wear out (I have worn out several) or break.
