Used the knife to cut 2" thick foam board to make a cover for my attic stairs. When the blade is new it does good job cutting thru the foam cleanly. Suggest buying a pack or two of spare blades.

Best for packaging.

The utility blade is mostly high quality, however, the clip on the end of the knife bends and deforms easily.

Nice, solid and well built knife that comes in handy. Used recently to cut Rockwool insulation. Much better than those plastic snap-off knives.

No blade wobble. I could easily cut out cardboard stencils with a nice fine cut. Easy to advance blades.

Does the job.

I don't like it! You can not extend the blade more than ONE segment. I wanted to cut two inch foam insulation with it. It don't work because I can not extend more than one blade segment.

This product is appropriately named -- Snap-Off Utility Knife, being as that is exactly what is likely to happen to parts of this tool within a short period of time unless used for very light-weight applications. Though the majority of the tool is made of metal and rugged rubber, the part which holds the blade in the tool is made of plastic. Each time you use this tool to cut something such as cardboard, this plastic piece gets pulled on with a considerable amount of force. The amount of force subjected increases according to the thickness or density of the material being cut. I strongly recommend that you examine the product or photos of the product closely. Plastic is not a good load-bearing material. If you see a piece of plastic connecting the blade to the slide, AVOID PURCHASING THE PRODUCT!

Bought this as an on-the-go replacement for my Fatmax snap-off knife which I've had for about 7 years. It probably would have lasted forever except I misplaced it. Granted this is a smaller, more compact knife so perhaps the larger Dewalt knife would have been a better comparison. This particular knife though began to show and exhibit wear after minor use as the slider feels loose and the blade rusted in less than a month despite being stored in my bag (which is no where near moisture.) It gets the job done for the most part though.

Inexpensive, nice feel. Worked well for a while, but now the blade won't extend. Disappointing.

As usual Dewalt products are excellent as is this tool. Not being the 'sharpest nail in the box' I do have problems figuring out how to install new blades.

This is my go-to knife. Ergonomic and very well built, I've been using this knife for several years now. The body is made of steel and the built-in tool for snapping off the blades is easy to use.

We bought this for trimming grip tape on skateboards. Ended up using it for everything. Useful because of its sharpness, this is the easiest to use design for box cutters. Highly recommended.

I purchased this item to remove carpets and only broke blades off once for while upstairs.

I purchased this to replace a broken snap off knife. I was more than I had plan to buy, however once it was used I changed my mind... it is an excellent snap off knife.

The DeWalt DWHT10038 18mm single blade snap-off knife is a well made handy cutter. I've owned several brands of these type snap-off cutter designs and this DeWalt is the strongest and best built of any on the market. It easily fits into a pocket or tool pouch, with durable construction that protects the blade assemblies from accidental contact, ensuring a safe and reliable tool. The knife edges stay sharp longer than my previous pro utility knifes and the ergonomic design of the grip gives me the needed control to get the job done safely. In all, I find the 18mm size perfect for all my cutting task. This DeWalt cutter is a quality hand tool at a reasonable price!
