I've found that the most important step is using the white cap that comes with a new cartridge in loosening the old cartridge; cartridge wouldn't budge one bit if I didn't put the white cap on the old cartridge and then using a wrench to twist it back and forth a few times. After that, it's relatively easy to pull out the old cartridge using pliers. If you end up having to use this tool, make sure the stem on the old cartridge is pulled out, otherwise screw is not long enough to thread in.

I have no plumbing experience, Things I learned, get or have a wrench to help you tighten ,have Wd40 to help lubricate the OLD cartridge. Be prepared to pull for like a solid 1 hour. Otherwise the cartridge puller worked just know it isn't doing to be easy peasy need to have a good arm.

Best $16 spent! Without the tool, the Moen 1222 wouldn't budge; I couldn't pull it out at all. With the tool, I removed it in 10 seconds. Was super easy to use. I even used it to install the new cartridge as I couldn't push it completely into place without force. I removed the screw that connects the handle and then used the cradle to hold the cartridge while gently hitting it with a hammer. Worked like a charm.

It was a little difficult to figure out. Our cartridge had been in for 10 years and it took some force to pull it out. Definitely glad we bought this.

A little confusion, did not fit as well as I thought it would but in the end it worked.

This is essential for pulling old cores from Moen sink faucets. Took me a few tries to get it properly attached, but the old core came right out once I did.

IF you want to ENSURE you get the cartridge out every time without four letter words, and a second visit to get one of these after 14 videos on how to change one out, just get one of these. Throw it in that "plumbing" drawer along with the plumbers grease you only use once a decade. Most houses will end up using the Moen cartridges on most of your faucets if they use one in the first place and this tool just gets it done. They give you a little plastic "tool" to get cartridges out when you buy a new one, but if they have been in there for 15 years, or so, good luck with that plastic tool. You will need this. EVERY Plumber has one of these... With this you KNOW it will come out and you can use it on the sink or shower cartridge that will soon be going out as it is the same age as the other one on an original build.

Many years ago, I purchased this puller and one of the prongs broke off after using it on a stuck valve. I went to HD today to buy another one. After getting home I found this part is now a lot lighter and definitely NOT the same metal as the old one. It almost feels like aluminum or an alloy. I intend to return it because I suspect this new end prone will break even easier and sooner than my old one on another very stuck valve. Both old and new were made in Tawain. Cost cutting!

Bought this thinking I could use it on a delta...the associate said it should. It didn't. Returned.

Could not have safely removed Moen cartridge without this puller. I watched a YouTube on how to swap a Moen shower cartridge and learned quickly that video must have been to replace a newer cartridge than my 20 year old cartridge. I was afraid I was going to pull the copper pipes apart trying to pull the old cartridge with a pair of vice grips clamped on the end. Figured there must be a tool and of course there was. There was a little confusion on my part about how to use the tool with parts from the control but once I figured that out it made breaking the cartridge free and getting it out far enough to twist out of the body easier. It still took some brute force for me using the puller to get it free from the control body. I do not see anyway it could have been done without this puller
