Poor design. The inside diameter of the puller does not fit over the cartridge. Result is that the puller ends up pushing on the part that needs to slide out. Had to modify to use.

Excellent tool and great price! Nothing more to say but well worth the time to go to Home Depot and get this item.

It was impressively useful

The puller worked as described. I was able to screw into the tip of the cartridge and get a good grip on it. My particular cartridge was so stuck in the pipe that I was unable to pull it out with this tool. For the price, it’s worth trying this but there is a better puller that braces against the pipe and pulls the cartridge into a cylinder. It’s more expensive but is more effective.

I am not one to purchase lots of specialty tools. However, after a 30 minute struggle to remove my exisiting shiwer cartridge (with no success), this puller took care of the job in seconds. Easy to use, and easy on my plumbing!

Cartridge Puller allowed me to extract the old cartridge without putting pressure on the water pipes.

This device pulls the cartridge out only about 1 inch. That means it is still tightly stuck, and can’t be pulled out. I had to call a plumber, after hours, who spent 2 hours getting the cartridge out.

Removed the plastic pull handle and the retaining clip, then cleaned out the nose of the barrel with a toothbrush. Lubed the threads on the main nut section of this new tool with a dab of NSF rated Super-lube. Attached the screw that threads into the cartridge body, and pulled the old 1225 cartridge out without a sweat. Why didn't I buy this tool when I did the last old Moen cartridge replacement at my other house? Tool feels well built. With some lube on the threads, it should function well for decades, (which is more than the average homeowner will ever need). Makes a challenging job easy to accomplish.

It is easy use tool, helped me extract the cartridge but low quality and may not work for next time. It is almost like disposable.

Not easy to use. Difficult to understand instructions

It worked perfectly with the Moen mixing valve.

The puller worked ok, but after I got it home and opened the package, it was obviously a return that had been abused but still put back on the shelf. The large nut was scarred and scraped and the center screw was stripped and slightly bent. I could not get the screw to operate until I removed it and straightened it enough that it would engage. HD needs to examine the returned merchandise before putting it on the shelf.

Puller broke while using it for the first time. Valve body was so solidly stuck the screw in the puller broke while I was pulling back on it (very strongly). Disappointed as now I have to hire a plumber to replace the entire assembly. Manufacturer should use a Stainless Steel screw to prevent this type of failure. If I had pulled at a weird angle or wiggled it I could understand the failure, but that is not what happened.
