We replaced our tub with a stand up shower so that our guests (in-laws) would not have to navigate stepping over the tub wall. This shower pan fit right into place where the tub was and made it easy to line up the drain pipe. Of course there was a lot of work for me to replace the wall & tile, but at least I didn't have to mess with tar or cement, etc. After a few weeks of use it is still great!

Easy install and love the non-slip coating

We like it it was easy to install, be carefull when drilling holes to fasten base it chips easy, also covered base as recommended with moveing blankets in case you drop a tool into the base it will chip the coverings. We choose the steelbase over acrylic, we believe it is more durable. We checked it out in the store for damage before we took it home.

Love these shower pans for remodels. Make sure you measure for the correct one unless you can move the drain over easily. Great value compared with other options that don't look as good.

I purchased this to convert a one piece fiberglass tub enclosure into a walk in shower. I love that this unit is porcelain over steel since I didn't want to purchase an acrylic or fiberglass shower base. The price is very reasonable and the drain location matched up well with the existing plumbing from the tub.

The pan had a double bottom - one to sit flat on the subfloor and the second sloped toward the drain. The working floor has a slip-proof finish which will be good. My only complaint is that the 1" high wall flange could be a bit higher, and have a series of V notches to receive the hold down fasteners at the studs. The white enamel finish tends to chip when the screws are driven in along the top of this flat top flange, and although it will be covered by cement board and then tile, a higher and notched flange would alleviate this problem. Other than that the pan is sturdy and well made.

This shower pan was easily installed, replacing a fiberglass bathtub that had been added 42 years ago in my parent's 70+ year old farmhouse. My husband and sons are all very handy, but we hadn't attempted anything quite so involved before. (After having to replace floor joists and old pipes, the pan installation was a breeze!) It feels sturdy and looks really good. I was VERY pleased to find one that was made from porcelain enameled steel. It just seems so much better to me than a fiberglass or acrylic one - I think it will be more sanitary, easier to clean, more durable and feel better to stand on. The Duroc and tiling fitted over it nicely. We cut the shape of the pan out of the box as directed and placed it over a blanket in the pan which worked very well to protect the pan as wall board, tiling and trim were installed. I thought that was very helpful suggestion. Some reviewers had mentioned chips in the enamel, so we checked this pan carefully for chips or blemishes before installing, but our pan wasn't chipped anywhere and the enamel coating is smooth and continuous except some very minor places along the outer lip that won't show or be exposed to water at all. We are all very proud to have been able to convert the bathtub area to a shower for my aging parents. The pan is not a really bright white color but vaguely creamy looking mostly white color - very neutral.

I'm glad they make this product. It is exactly what we needed to convert our tub to a shower. I'm not a fan of acrylic and there was too much lead time required to order a base made with marble or granite. I had a Bootz tub for 16 years that the builder put in. It was a mess. When the workers brought it, it had to go back several times because of damage. From that and other reviews, I knew to check this base. We went through 3 before we found the one we bought. When we took it out to dry fit it, I noticed a spot towards the edge that was missing the finish. Poor quality control and bad packaging. The lack of instructions is nuts. We wanted to know what size drain it needed and we had to read the questions on this page to find out. Don't believe it when they say it's a standard tub drain. It's not. A standard tub takes a 1 1/2" drain and plumbing . This requires 2" plumbing and drain. We had to dig down into the foundation, cut the plumbing for the tub out and convert it to 2". If this is beyond your level of DIY, you'll have to hire someone. It is not like they say where they tell you you can just buy one at Home Depot. You can but you have to change plumbing to make it fit. We haven't finished the project yet.

So MUCH better than the typical fiberglass shower bases. Porcelain finish far superior and much easier to clean than fiberglass. Rigid, Sturdy, well built should be long lasting.

Installation was pretty easy. As for durability I can't say yet since the shower pan has been installed in vacation home, so it is not used on a daily basis. However, INSPECT the shower pan thoroughly before you take possession of it. Quality control is a little lacking. And we bought two of these shower pans. The porcelain was chipped on the black pan, but it was chipped where it can not been seen. The white shower pan was destroyed, it had dents on the flanges and chips in the porcelain. We ordered both pans online and picked them up from the store. We did not accept the destroyed pan and Home Depot found us one from the floor that wasn't damaged as badly. Even if you buy these off the floor INSPECT THEM carefully!

Fits perfect. Glad I replaced the tub with this shower pan. Opens up the space and makes it look much sleeker.

Like That it is fast iron and needs no reenforement underneath
