There are 2 important factors that are not specified either by Home Depot or the manufacture's website. The first is that the edges of the fabric must be "heat sealed" or the warranty is voided. The recommend way to heat seal is by purchasing the appropriate tool for an additional $200. The second is that this product will not protect glass windows from being shattered by flying debris. It will only protect the structure from wind entering the window opening. My window is recessed by 2-1/2 inches and, when the fabric is installed according to instructions, I can easily touch the glass by pressing the fabric with one finger. Verdict: fail.

They shoud have cut it using a hot knife to prevent fraying.

I gave 5 stars for ease of installation. Hopefully I never have to find out how practical they will be.

Just as advertised. Looks very strong. Instillation took longer than I expected but was not difficult. Found install videos on line

Easy to install . 2 of the 36 clips were stripped out, but after calling the manufacturer they were replaced in a timely manner.

I actually returned it...was not what I expected, unfinished edges...seriously..I'm in my 70's expecting it to be easy, my mistake.Returned for full value $297.00 thank GOD for that

Easy to install and feel sturdy.

AstroGuard, the manufacturer of the hurricane fabric, failed to alert the end-user that it is crucial to face the fabric to the outside of the protected opening.

I doubt this is stopping a 2x4 from coming in, but will slow it down. A lot of holes to drill, however if it works, now that it's done, it will be easy up & easy down or now anyway.

This product is easy to work with and certified for Florida. If we have a hurricane I hope it will work but I also hope I never have to find out.

Selected this product for ease of setup, storage convenience, and for ease of installation.

If you have something around your window you don't want to drill into I suggest you just get a bigger piece of fabric and cut it bigger so you can lay clips on a flat part of your outside wall. A hammer drill will make things go faster if you have one. Clips and parts are expensive and add up quickly they suggest one every foot which I did on the side of my windows but not on top and bottom. Also I suggest you put clips on the fabric first and then drill your holes a couple at a time to make sure you dont mess up. You will need some concrete glue for your anchors. The fabric has some give to it and I am sure it will keep out a fast moving object but the give in the fabric may still cause your window to take a hit but the fabric is strong enough to keep the wind out too.

I put this type of shutter up on all my windows/door facing the ocean and they looked pretty good. Then I took them all down, put em' in these storage bags and am waiting for the next hurricane. I think these things are good option for clunky metal ones.

Once you figure out they best way to install if for your particular windows, it is pretty easy. Installation notes online are helpful. Hope it performs as advertised.....

The fabric seems very durable and yet lets light through so the house isn’t completely dark as it is with traditional metal hurricane shutters.

I believe convenience of use will be good and installation went as expected but fabric is much thinner than a few years ago and I think will only offer minimal protection.

The fabric is shipped folded up. We ran a steam mop over the fabric to remove creases - worked really well. Easy to cut with scissors. The clips that go with this fabric take 8 small screws each. You will definitely want a power drill or driver to set them all.

My pieces were all 1 inch short in both directions.That could have been a problem

lightweight, not dangerous like metal panels. Does take a little skill to install properly, with the right tools a DIY'r can do it, just measure correctly twice.............ALF

Quality product. With the right tools, proper installation, this appears to be a great storm shutter.

I bought 250 concrete anchors to install this and you did not give me a drill bit with them. When I have bought smaller amounts they came with a bit. The one I have is too small and would not last through 250

High quality material and installation parts. Clear instructions. Easy install.

The astroguard looks exactly like the videos available online. There are several that show durability as well as installation instructions. Will it work as advertised? Only a hurricane can prove or disprove that. I hope that I never have to find out. I am 70 years old and plywood to cover a 4 X 9 foot window is too much for me to handle. The few pounds of Astroguard is very manageable and I can easily install it by myself.
