Painter of 35 years here. Frustrating to read countless negative reviews from yahoos who give this tape bad marks for pulling off previous coatings. If you used this tape and it pulled off a previous finish, it's a good indication that the finish wasn't sufficiently adhered to the substrate. A test we painters do to check for proper adhesion is to use duct tape on a surface and then unmask it to see if it pulls off any old coating. If this pulls off old coatings, don't blame the tape.

Works good,remove slowly

Did not lift fresh paint and great edges

After applying and in place for two hours, removal took the paint off the area.

Made it so easy to paint by the borders

great for narrow areas that need protection.

Kept my delicate items free from paint and safe when I peeled the tape off.

The tape is sold as “soft” but the tape would not roll off without tearing off sideways after only a few inches. Very frustrating. I took it back to Home Depot right away and bought another brand.

Repainting our entire house and this has been a lifesaver.

This is my go to tape. Have used for painting and it works well but most often used because I have to tape lower bedroom drawers shut because of a crazy cat who loves to crawl in to hide and sleep. Tape doesn't damage furniture or leave any residue.

Does not pull off paint. Very good for delicate work

I had to re paint the majority of the corners due to this crap tape. Before you say I removed it wrong, I didn’t. I always remove the tape slow and at a good angle but this tape is one of the worse tapes I’ve used

Tape is not delicate enough

Couldn’t hold its own weight. Literally started falling off all the walls before I made it around. Returned to store.

It stuck to the wall, but could only be removed in pieces- would not come off easily.

Easy to use and remove once completed painting

Used the tape to protect trim when painting walls. The wall paint didn’t bleed through and the tape didn’t peel off the trim paint. A 1” width tape would have worked but Home Depot didn’t carry it in the store

a few lawyers of this around the door edges blocked out tge extreme cold.

Do not waste your time with this. It isn’t sticky enough and falls right off.
