A: Did not work as well as I thought or like Green Gopher probably because I don't have good hot water pressure.
A: I run hot water down drain for about 30 to 45 seconds before pour zep into the drain; and then about 10 minutes later I run hot water for about 60 to 90 seconds to rinse it out. If I don't see better flow, I repeat the treatments a second time. Has never failed to increase flow. Well, except once, when our child forced a water bottle cap down the hall bathroom sink, suggesting that this product may not dissolve plastic. Kids can be so curious....
A: After it opens the clog I usually let the hot water run for about 30 seconds
A: I heat a gallon or two of water in the kitchen and pour that into the drain rather than waiting for the water coming out of the tub's fauce to actually get hot.
A: Hi, Longwei! Flush drain with hot water for 60 seconds to clear away any remaining residual. Should you require further assistance, please call us at 1-888-805-4357. We appreciate your business and opportunity to service you! Zep Inc. Retail Technical Support Team
A: instructions say 'no'
A: Not recommended may eat your wax ring...... I have done it before without a problem
A: Yes
A: I don't know. However, I do not use it in our toilets because I don't want to risk breaking or weakening the toilet seal. I also think the amount required would be much greater than recommended because those drains are substantially larger than sinks and tubs. Being a larger diameter drain, I also don't believe toilet drains will clog with stuff Zep 10-minute gel is designed to eliminate.
A: You don't use drain unclogger chemicals in toilets. Plungers are your best bet.
A: if you pour it into a disposal, then run it (even after flushing it), there's a good chance that the chemicals will splash out. Clogs typically don't occur in the disposal. It would happen in the trap, or in my case, 10ft beyond that. If it's in the trap, you'll have to just take it apart. No a hard thing to do.
A: Hello, JP- Thank you for your inquiry. The Zep 10 Minute Hair Clog Remover contains potassium hydroxide and sodium hypochlorite. It is not advisable to use this product in a garbage disposal. We recommend the Zep Advance Kitchen Sink Drain Opener Gel. The special formula dissolves grease, food and oil in garbage disposals and sink drains. I hope this information is of help. A: It is not recommended to use a drain cleaner in a garbage disposal as the acid can destroy the seals inside the unit. If you are just trying to clean the unit you might try part of a lime.. Seems to work well and leaves a refreshing smell. I also occasionally take apart the connections and clean out the lines as the dishwasher line tends to clog over time
A: Several of a garbage disposal's parts and seals may not like the chemical, so I never use it in our kitchen sink. in addition, our kitchen sink doesn't receive the kind of material this chemical is designed to dissolve, so why take the risk imo.
A: I drained the tub completely. You can here the chemical working. I set a 10 minute timer and then ran hot water down the drain. Worked great!
A: nope
A: Yes
A: Hello PotterConstruction, Drain the tub as much as possible before adding the clog remover. I hope this helps. Cheers, Chris
A: You need to drain the water from the tub, this is acid acting chemical you don't want to dilute in water to reduce its strength, the concentrate itself is questionable though, read my reviews :-)
A: Nope
A: It is heavier than water so it will sink to the bottom but it won't work miracles. First remove as much standing water as possible. Thry to have less than a half inch of water. Water dilutes the cleaner and reduces it's effectiveness. The idea is to get as much of the cleaner into the drain as possible so gently pour it right into the drain. A little standing water won't be a problem. If it is a sink and the cleaner doesn't work you might have to dissemble the trap and clean it. Showers and tubs may require the use of a snake or balloon cleaner on a hose if it is really clogged.
A: Absolutely a great product.
A: Won't work in standing water
A: The standing water is probably diluting the product to uselessness. And no, I don't believe it drops through water like some drain clog products do, at least not effectively. Do you know your clog was caused by hair? FYI, I use it before drains stop flowing and it works great with low impact on plumbing lines imo.
A: It did not damage my sink stopper.
A: I have never removed my stopper and no problems in both the main bath or guest bathrooms.
A: I use a funnel and small hose to get past the rubber parts
A: Metal stopper - OK but rinse right away as it may damage the finish. It will damage a rubber (plastic) stopper
A: I've never removed my stopper and haven't had any issues.
A: Nope
A: I don't know for sure, but the product works excellent when it can sit for 10-12 minutes inside a small drain line; and then be flushed completely away with hot water running into the drain for a minute or two. Not sure how you would flush it our of a dry well.
A: No
A: Yes, this will help in removal.
A: No Great on hair and other clogs
A: Yes, but it may take several applications if grease blockage is severe. I used the product and let stand for 1 hour before pouring boiling water down drain. That works best for me on grease but you need to make sure your drain pipes are in good shape to handle the boiling water.
A: yes it will
A: Yes
A: I pretreat my field line which is 150ft down into the woods for gray water, it seems to help soften clogs when I snake it every 6 months.
A: it may splash out of the bowl. for toilet clogs, use some hot (doesn't need to be boiling) and some liquid dish soap. mix, but don't let it bubble up. pour into the toilet slowly. stir a bit. should clear in an hour.
A: Works well on hair in drain. Toilets work better with proper snake.
A: Zep 10 Minute Hair Clog Remover is not formulated to break down toilet paper and/or human waste. It is formulated to break down hair clogs that can occur within sink and tub drains.
A: Hi, it's because when you pour it into the bowl, it is just sitting there waiting for a flush, not working on the drain clog
A: Because it may dissolve the wax ring
A: I used a similar product, same active ingredient in my shower with no problem.
A: Nope
A: no
A: If you are concerned about the product remaining on the tile, we would recommend wiping the drain and surrounding tile with a clean, damp cloth to remove any product that may have contacted those areas while you wait for the drain to clear.
A: I tried before nothing happened to the tiles. Once in a while I think it's ok.
How can we help?
