    Answer This Question

A:  Julie, thank you for your question. Grab bars may be installed with our product, so long as it is anchored to the studs behind the Swanstone wall.

A:  Hello Julie, Thank you for your recent inquiry of the internet # 100044718, 32 in. x 60 in. x 59.6 in. 5-Piece Square Tile Easy Up Adhesive Alcove Tub Surround in White. We show in the instruction manual linked on our website states: We recommend that shower compartments be equipped with support grab bars that comply with the most recent edition of ANSI-A117.1 requirements. Grab bars must be anchored to structural support (wall studs) behind the panels. Do not rely on the panels only for grab bar support! Answer This Question

A:  Yes, the back wall can be cut around a window. We recommend using a circular saw with 60-80 tooth carbide blade or saber saw with a bi-metal blade (14 teeth per inch). If there is anything we can do to assist you, please reach out to Swan at 1-800-325-7008 between 8am-4:30pm CST, Monday Friday, or at help@swanstone.com. Thank you for choosing Swan!

Q:If so, where can I find the trim pieces?

A:  Yes, according to the installation guide, it can be mounted over tile. I had to remove my old tile because it came up only about 4' above the tub, was over 50 years old and had lots of cracks where water had gotten behind the tile and softened the original backer board. I tore out the tile, the old sheetrock and then had to cut further up the wall in order to put new hardi-backer up the walls - probably didn't need it because these surrounds don't leak. The kit did not have trim pieces for the main panels because they are a 'bull-nose' style; however, in order for my new surround to fit into the rest of the original tile of the bathroom, I use 2x4" bull nose tile, white, to butt up against the thicker bull-bull nose of the new surround. Keep in mind that the old tile will had additional thickness so you may have to go with a quarter (or bigger) round trim piece (similar to the quarter round in the "old tile" pic). I've attached two pictures: (1) shows the old tile before removal and (2) shows the new surround with the 2x4" trim pieces. Hope this helps.

A:  Yes, I installed one of these in each bathroom, and my wife insisted on a handheld Moen head in hers. It clears the shelf no problem.

Q:Can shower doors be installed with this surround?

                  Answer This Question

A:  Nancy, Although Swan does not manufacturer shower doors, shower doors can be installed. If shower doors will be installed, filler boards, such as 3/4” plywood or 1” x 4” strapping, must be installed on the stud wall BEFORE side panel installation. These filler boards are necessary to provide solid backing to prevent damage to the side panels. It is good practice to install the filler boards before installing the wall panels in case shower doors would be added at a later date. Thank you for considering Swan for your bathroom project.
