A: Yes you can. They are great for fence posts, nothing is worse than having to dig up all your posts and concrete when they inevitable rot. I cut off the bottom of the Post Protector and then cut them in half. Put the Sleeve on the post, put it post in the hole and then the concrete. When the concrete has set, pull out the Post, put in a couple of inches of gravel for drainage and put the post back in (you can even snap a line , remove the posts and then cut them to height on a chop saw rather than in on a ladder). You want to be careful if you are are using this method for other than a fence, which will not be subject to wind uplift.

A: Yes. It is similar to the plastic in Milk containers. Any wood saw will easily cut through it. For fences, you should allow at least 4 - 6" to extend above the ground, anticipating ground debris accumulation

A: It's a box, sleeve. Slide it on. Put in screws. Drill the two holes. Mount it below or above ground. I have one in gravel below the ground, with a bird house. And, one above on a 1 inch little square and screwed to an adjoining post for extra support for stairs off the deck. Watch videos on the site.

Answer This Question
A: Application dependent. The reason I say this is I put one in the ground fire clematis, so I followed the directions and drilled drainage holes at the bottom. I now have to put one on a block. I thought at first I may not need to drill the holes, but I am going to do it. You may want to or not want to.

A: Yes unless you drill holes in it

A: The bottom is sealed, however the installer has to drill 1/8" holes to allow any water that comes in from the top to escape. Put gravel or stones in the bottom of the hole to prevent water build up in the hole.
