Questions and Answers for Post Protector 4 in. x 4 in. x 42 in. In-Ground Fence Post Decay Protection

A:  Paint it the way you would vinyl siding. Caulk the space between the post and sleeve. Seems to be holding up well after 8 years

A:  I don't see why not, it's a plastic surface so use the appropriate paint for an exterior plastic surface. I'd probably use an enamel spray paint.

A:  Before I answer your question, let me clarify that this is not really a sleeve.  It is not open on both ends, only the top.  It is designed to be slipped over the bottom of the post before the post is placed in the hole to create a barrier between the wood post and the soil.  To answer your question, yes it could be cut open vertically.  But that would defeat the purpose of using it.  I believe there are other products that are wrapped around the post at the soil line that might be a better choice for your project.  

A:  I would say nominal. There is some wiggle room, but I doubt it would fit a full 4x4.
