Q:Can this floor stapler be used with 1/2 inch engineered flooring and if so what size staples will be the best to use?

Answer This Question
A: No, this stapler uses 15.5-gauge staples. Engineered wood flooring of 1/2-inch thickness generally requires the use of a thinner gauge staple. A different stapler
will be required to use a thinner gauge staple. Check with the manufacturer of the flooring you are considering and get their recommendation, but this particular
stapler from NuMax (worked great for me with 3/4-inch hardwood and 15 1/2 gauge staples) should not be used.

A: If the engineered flooring is tongue and groove, then yes. The size of the staples will be depend on what the flooring is being fastened to. You must also be cognizant of the air pressure setting you are going to use to penetrate but not over penetrate the material. When I did my 3/4" tongue groove oak I ran several tests to get that setting correct.
I used 1 1/2" staples. My sub floor was 1" actual installed on 3x6 beams at 20" OC.
I have attached a grainy photo taken with an old iPOD, but it will give you an idea of the job I did back in 2013 on an 1850's Vermont farmhouse using this nailer. It worked flawlessly.

A: I used it for putting down a solid wooden floor and it worked great!

A: Best bet would be to follow the flooring manufacturer's installation instructions for the particular flooring.

A: This nailer can install 1/2" flooring, solid or engineered. I must recommend before buying the tool that you verify with the manufacture of your particular Engineered flooring which fastener they recommend using, whether 16g cleats and 15.5g staples or 18g cleats which would be a different nailer. You dont want to use a different fastener than they recommend typically, to keep from voiding the manufacturers warranty. You can give us a call directly with any other questions. 1-888-669-5672
