A:  I have this tile just outside the back door and it does see water on top. I did not seal this tile and it has last 2 years no issues. If it is on the backsplash, should be just fine. Personally I would not use on countertop though.

A:  We used it as a border on the floor entry way. Has lasted 6 months with no crumbling or flaking and we are walking on it from outside. My guess is that as a backsplash should last, seems to hold up well to spall amounts of water.

This item is constructed of pure natural stone, so it is plenty durable for an installation like this. While it is not necessary to seal these tiles, it will help with cleaning these tiles. We recommend using a sealer that is intended for natural stone https://thd.co/2r96wdP and testing it on scrap prior to sealing the whole installation. If you opt to not seal the tile, routine maintenance will help preserve the life of this tile. We would encourage fast cleanup of spills, especially of staining foods like red wine and tomato sauce, especially if you choose to not seal this, just to prevent the stone from absorbing the stain.
