Answer This Question

A:  I do not know how strong the sides are when it comes to pressure. So I used potting soil that I made even lighter by adding vermiculite and perlite.

A:  Hi Mike. Since this is a raised garden bed, you would be better off using a Raised Bed Potting Soil. The main issue is with drainage. Since the raised garden bed has four enclosed sides the soil will only breathe from the top of the soil. http://www.homedepot.com/s/Raised%2520Bed%2520Potting%2520Soil.?NCNI-5 If you decide to use garden soil for your raised garden bed, you will need to mix in Perlite to add air and drainage to your soil. http://www.homedepot.com/s/Perlite?NCNI-5 Please let us know if we can be of further assistance. Q:Can this be connected as two 4' x 8' boxes instead of three 4' x 4' boxes?

          Answer This Question

A:  You'd have to figure out a way to successfully link the two 4' walls into an 8' wall. I believe it would be problematic. You can stack them higher, tho. I saw a guy on youtube stack 2 4x4's for a taller box and he planted strawberries.

          by|May 5, 2023

A:  Unfortunately with the design of the panels they cannot be connected to make a larger sized garden bed. You can stack two of the beds on top of each other to make sure bed taller in height.

A:  I just put down cardboard (actually, the box it came in) to attract earthworms and give a layer of protection. If you want to keep weeds out though, I would suggest a layer of preen first, or that fiber roll stuff. I can say it hasn't been an issue as I've stacked mine.

A:  I used a weed barrier. They are in rolls and can be cut to size. The rolls are usually 4 foot long which is the perfect size for these units. I used garden stakes to keep the weed barrier in place. I think the soil needs to drain, hence the weed barrier is idea.

A:  You do not need a floor. Just put down a good or heavy duty weed blocker and have it big enough to cover bottom and go up the sides.
