by|Nov 29, 2018

Answer This Question
A: Hi Werhat- Per the Installation Guide: Any home ventilation system, such as a
ventilation hood, may interrupt the proper flow of combustion air and exhaust required by fireplaces, gas furnaces, gas water heaters and other naturally vented systems. To minimize the chance of interruption of such naturally vented systems, follow the heating equipment manufacturer’s guidelines and safety standards such as those published by NFPA and ASHRAE. When applicable, install any makeup (replacement) air system in accordance with local building code requirements. Make-up Air Kit

Q:Will this fit a kitchen ceiling height of 88”
by|Jul 2, 2018

Answer This Question
A: Hi Peter, Thanks for checking with us. The 88" is slightly lower than what we specify. Depending on your kitchen set up, it may not allow for the required 24 inches between the countertop and the hood. Have a good day. Sadie@GEA

Answer This Question
A: Hi Julie- This hood is designed to be vented vertically through the ceiling. A duct transition piece is
supplied for vertical exhaust. Use locally supplied elbows to vent horizontally through the rear wall. For reference, see page 8 of the Installation Instructions: http://products.geappliances.com/MarketingObjectRetrieval/Dispatcher?RequestType=PDF&Name=49-80549-4.pdf - Thanks for considering GE! Q:Isn’t the primary concept of this unit to be ducted outside, to exhaust the kitchen cooking fumes. If recycling kit is used, what is the distance from the top of the trunk of the hood to the ceiling to prevent the ceiling from discoloring from the exhaust.

Answer This Question
A: Hi Ahreeves- The Hood offers convertible venting- Recirculating or Vented to Outside. Range Hood Charcoal Filter WB02X11348 is required for Recirculating. If the model is not vented to the outside,
the air will be recirculated through this disposable charcoal filter that helps remove smoke and odors so you should not have concerns with discoloring from the exhaust. The charcoal filter should be replaced when it is noticeably dirty or discolored (usually after 6 to 12 months, depending on hood usage). Install these hoods between the required 24” minimum and 36" recommended maximum above the cooking surface.
