Q:I live on an island where it is very humid. My new construction is concrete. Can I use these treads (with the use of a moisture liner) on the concrete steps and how do you suggest we install (nails, screws, etc)?

A: Hi Stairs, if you are planning to use Evermark stair treads indoors, as long as you acclamated the stairs to your indoor temperature and follow the install guide available on the Home Depot product page, you should be fine. Evermark products are not rated for outdoor use.

A: I’m unfortunately not an expert on whether this will work outdoors. I used it indoors.

Q:What is the core material? I looked at these in store last night and it seems the nose is solid oak and the top and bottom is a thick oak veneer.

Answer This Question
A: Hi Curiousdiy, the core is a hardwood engineered core. This improves stability and strength and allows for the re-sawn red oak layers on the top and bottom to have a more uniformed appearance.

Q:What is the radius of the nose? Im looking for a router bit to create left and right round returns. Thanks.

Answer This Question
A: Hi Mike - The radius of the nose on this product is .51 inches, although this is engineered core so if you are rounding off the edge it may not be as smooth of a finish that you may desire.
We have a return piece already made that is designed to work with the tread. Please take a look at part #8072R-000-HD00L.

Q:Can I cut a dado joint into the bottom of this tread, so that my riser will fit into it?
by|Mar 20, 2023

Answer This Question
A: Hi Dazzle, great question. You most certainly can cut a dado so that your riser notches into the tread. Do not cut the dado so deep that you compromise the structural integrity of the tread. If you have additional questions, we will respond as quickly as we can.

A: Please take a look at model # 8430W-048-0000L and 8430W-042-0000L. These are the only white oak treads we offer online. These options are going to be a 48in and a 42in. We do not have a white oak option in 36in.

Q:Is there a weight limit to these? I have 3 160-300lb adults running up and down. Also no middle stringer, just on the two sides. I would be replacing this hot mess that last owner installed.

Answer This Question
A: Hi there! When properly installed, these treads meet or exceed standard building code requirements. If you are concerned about weight, adding a center stringer is certainly recommended. The treads must be used with risers so that the edge of the tread rests on the riser below it (with a 1-1/4" overhang)

Q:Is there a weight limit to these? I have stringers on each side of my staircase, none in the middle. I would completely remove the 3 inch ugly tread that is there now, and replace with this. Is that correct? (Adding a riser of course.)
