Questions and Answers for Delta Mortising Kit

A:  I believe it's a little loose fit on that. But it's a easy fix. You could put a couple wraps of tape on the pipe or cut a piece of rubber to help out. A no hub connector works great for it too

A:  Yes I believe it will. If it's a little loose you could do a couple wraps of tape around the shaft to make tight

A:  Most likely yes. It firs most drills and comes with blocks to help fit drills. If none of them that comes with it, you could wrap paper or a piece of hose around it so the clamps will hold

A:  52" is very close to 2". This is within the design size of the mortise press. Make sure the top of your press is fixed and not spinning with the drill.

A:  Dear JimC, Sorry to take so long in getting back to you but I have been busy. I do a lot of volunteer work. The mortise attachment comes with 3 split bushings and 3 two-piece bushings. With the combination of 1 split bushing and 1 two-piece bushing I was able to get a micrometer reading of 40 mm but it was not easy to get a good real accurate reading. You might be able to get that extra mm or two when everything is tightened up. The two-piece bushings are not shouldered like the split bushings so an extra set of hands could be helpful holding everything is place while things are tightened up. Hope this helps and good luck.

A:  Sorrry to take so long in getting back to you but volunteer work keeps me busier than I would like to be at time but onto the subject at hand. In using my calipers and zeroing it out each time I measured the attachment bracket and making sure that the bolt was as tight as I could get it the smallest reading I could get was 65.3mm. The bolt I am referring to is the one that is tightened to hold the mortise head to the drill press. Uncompressed that same spacer collar measures 66mm. You might be able to go to a good automotive store and get some shim stock that would take up the space between 66mm and the 65mm that you need. I used to use shim stock when I worked on aircraft and it was very thing sheets of brass that you could use to fill up a gap or ????. Haven't had time to use the tool yet but it looks to be well built and heavy. Coming from Delta I would expect nothing less. Good luck. If you can and it works for me let me know if you can.

A:  This mortising kit contains numerous adaptors to fit many drill presses. If the shaft top is 65mm or about 2-1/2" there is adaptors to fit it.

A:  The Chisel holder connects to the "quill" or "collet". Different folks call the same piece on the drill press by different names. There are 6 different sized bushing s that allow the mortise attachment to fit several different drill presses. Without that measurement my answer is don't know.

A:  Yes may just need to put a shim around the collar to make tight
