Please find below instructions for weekly maintenance: Tank Cleaning - Remove the Rotating Mist Nozzle from the top of the Water Tank then remove the Water Tank from the unit. Turn the tank upside down, unscrew the Tank Cap and drain any water from the tank. Wipe the tank with a soft damp cloth then rinse it with warm water inside and out. Base Cleaning - Gently wipe the Base with a soft damp cloth. Ceramic Water Filter Cleaning - Remove the Water Tank from the humidifier Base. Remove the Tank Cap and rinse Ceramic Filter thoroughly with tap water, then replace on Water Tank. Have a great day! Customer Response Team

A:  I use mine with city water. You will have to clean it a little more frequent. However, I do recommend using a little vinegar in it if you use anything other than distilled. That's what we do at home, works great and doesn't have a musty smell because of the vinegar (and it doesn't smell like vinegar)

If it has high concentration of minerals such as calcium and salt then you may not use it since the minerals will crystalize over the nebulizer damaging your unit and voiding your warranty. A:  Dear Valued Customer, Thank you for your interest in our wonderful line of products. We recommend you fill your unit with the spring water and run it for eight hours. If you see a coating of white dust accumulating on your furniture, stop using the spring water and change to distilled. The white dust will be natural minerals, such as calcium and salt, in your water and depending on the concentration it might produce the dust. In addition, over a period of time these minerals will crystalize on the nebulizer and the fan motor damaging them and voiding the warranty. I hope this information has been helpful! We recommend you only use the unit in the evening after you get home so that you may enjoy the benefits of your humidifier, this will also consume less water.
