Q:can I use soft water

Answer This Question

A:  Dear Valued Customer, Thank you for your interest in our wonderful line of products. If you have a water softener in you home you may not use this water because of the high salt concentration. Over time, the salt will crystalize on the nebulizer and the fan motor damaging them and voiding your warranty. We recommend you use distilled water to extend the life of your unit. I hope this information has been helpful. Customer Response Team

by|May 3, 2023

A:  We always use distilled water which we buy at walmart for about 80 cents a gallon. Instructions say that humidifier will build up mineral deposits which I assume also means salts, so I'm not sure you could use soft water regularly without having salts build up in the machine.

      by|May 3, 2023

A:  The manufacturer recommends that you not add "stuff" like Vicks as we used to in our older ones with replaceable VS ceramic filters. We not use a wall plug in the Vicks makes...woks the same.

        by|May 3, 2023

A:  The water isn't heated...it's just a mist device. Nothing would melt the Vicks and it would definitely gum up the machine, in my opinion.

A:  I used it for my living room which is about 12x18. The instruction manual says it works on extra large rooms, nfi. I had it on the highest setting and my plants loved it. On lower settings it is supposed to work for 96 hours.

            by|May 3, 2023

A:  About 400 SF, but will do a larger room; just not quite as efficient unless you run it on high all the time.

A:  I have this model.. you do have water in it so.. First the humidity reading is not too accurate when they are digital, but if the level is 31% should be working. I would say, unplug, carry base to sink and empty, the manual says like 15 minutes if any functions are not working. Call 1-8# and After that I would say try to find receipt and exchange for a different model.

A:  We use filtered water for this exact humidifier (and have 2). We still have slime throughout the machines. It is in the pipe, the nozzle, tank, base...we clean them EVERY THREE DAYS but it seems to need to be done almost every other day. I am assuming the "anti-microbial" is short-lived? We've had these units for about 2-1/2months and the slime has been constant after about the first month...any suggestions to keep the slime from forming??

A:  You can, but be careful what you add so you do not mess up the ceramic filter. I think you will find less need for these with the anti-microbial plastic Air Innovation uses.

A:  I have hardwood floors as well and use a plastic boot tray to set it on, just in case there were ever a leak. I also put a towel around the area so the mist doesn't damage the surrounding floor.

A:  I would place it on a plate just in case water gets spilled during the filling of the tank. Other than that I would be comfortable using this on a wood floor.

A:  I have mine on a hardwood floor and there isn't any damage from the running of the unit. However, when I have tried to refill it before it is completely empty, it does spill some water on the floor (so that could damage the floor if you didn't notice it right away.)

A:  We use ours on a wooden nightstand and have not had any water issues. One thing we do though is carry the tank to the sink to fill it, wiping off the tank before putting it back onto the unit.

A:  Dear Valued Customer, Thank you for your interest in our wonderful line of products. If you have hard water we strongly recommend you used distilled water to run your unit. The minerals in your water will create a white dust buildup on your furniture and electrical appliances and will crystalize over the nebulizer and the fan motor which will damage your unit. I hope this information has been helpful. Customer Response Team

A:  The recommendation in the enclosed booklet reads: use only filtered, distilled, cold boiled or bottled water to minimize the white dust. So yes, buying spring water will eliminate or reduce the white dust you'll see if you have hard water.

A:  I would not recommend hard water

                      by|May 3, 2023

A:  They say bottled, filtered or distilled; to be safe I'd use distilled, which should cut down on any eventual white dust as well. Might well be distilled grabs more particles in the air as well.

                      by|May 3, 2023

A:  The unit will produce a white dust that only will be present within a foot or so. There does not seem to be much of a build up in the unit since its ultrasonic and does not use heat to produce humidified air.
