Awesome!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I recently got the Great Innovations LLC. - Air Innovations MH-701BA Ultrasonic Cool Mist Aromatherapy Humidifier in Black and immediately put in in our big room and it's working perfectly. We have a fireplace and the room tends to be dry. This machine put all the humidity back in the room and the results are very noticeable. It's very quiet and easy to fill. The water lasts a long time. We love the remote and highly recommend this product.

    Stay away from this product!
Quit working after 2 years and only used when needed. Company was no help. Too expensive to be disposable. I will not buy from this company again!

      Lasted 18 months
Worked great for the first 12 months (really, 6 since we’re in Maine and only run in he winter months.) The heating element for the humidifier stopped working and now it won’t turn on at all.

Excellent mist production, tested relative humidity gauge on the humidifier to a gauge that I know is accurate and both were in 1-2 points of each other. During a very cold spell outside RH was -8 and inside this humidifier kept the RH at 45-50. If you have hard water you will need to use distilled water the tank holds enough water to last 2-3 days. I like that once you have reached the preset RH that you want humidifier will automatically shut off and kick back on when RH dips below your preset. You can also choose the amount of mist from very little to basically a fog machine. The remote control is nice no need to bend over to turn on or adjust settings. This is really nice for the elderly. This is the humidifier I have been wanting for several years just never found a good one until now.

I bought two of these about two weeks after Christmas because my husband and I noticed how dry the air was in our new home. I love the style of this humidifier. It is not bulky or boxy; it's more of a sleek design. I like being able to program it to turn on and off at intervals. I also like the varying speeds, in case I need to bring the humidity up quickly. Filling it with water can be a chore, but I knew it would take longer due to the size of the tank. I have a water filter for the tap on my sink, and because you need to use filtered water for this unit, and it is too tall to fit under the faucet, I have to fill up a pitcher about 3 times to fill the tank. I sit the tank on the floor in a corner to brace it, since the slanted design will not allow it to sit flat. I do not carry it by the handle when it is full because of the weight. The plastic handle seems flimsy to me and I just don't trust it. Overall, I like the way it looks and it seems to be doing what I expected it to do.

Wonderfully quiet humidifier for my bedroom. The mist is visible out of the stack to assure that there is water and everything is properly aligned. I fill it twice a week and we are very dry right now at the height of heating season. My only disappointment is that I cannot convince my grandchildren that it is a dragon! I think it works and behaves like a good one!

I love it. Super quiet and finally, a humidifier that brings up the humidity in my 11' X 14' (with 10' ceilings) master bedroom. I live in the dry southwest so this has been a chore to find one that will actually do the job. I love the carrying handle on this humidifier. It is a big tank, but the carrying handle makes it easy to get from kitchen faucet to the unit in my bedroom. We do have hard water here but since I use filtered water from my RO system - no white dust. Just a note for people with hard water and who don't want to buy distilled or use filtered water, this unit does say in it's booklet that you can order a special filter for hard water use. Other great features: has several levels of misting; can set mist to highest turbo setting and it will automatically reduce the mist after 40 min so it doesn't run at super high all night; has humidistat built-in so will not run all night; can turn off the digital lights (most of them, anyway). I love the extension arm. This brings the mist up to bedside level. An absolutely awesome humidifier!

This humidifier is pretty cool. It adds moisture back into the room, reducing the static electricity and making it easier to breathe. It has 5 settings for the mist control. I like the turbo setting as it helps with getting the air humid faster. it also shuts off if the water tank empties while you sleep or while out. The remote makes changing those settings a breeze as you just point and press the control buttons. the only setting that can't be set is turbo, that requires pressing the mist button on the base 5 times to get it. I haven't used the auto on. off settings yet, but they are easy to set. Just press the auto button to set the start and shut off times. It is a cool addition to my living room and is quiet, too. The only way to tell if its on is to look for the mist out of the nozzle on top. I would say it will help with the dryness in any room. I recommend anyone with dry air in their house to consider this.

        Nice Size, But Not Kid-Friendly
This humidifier is a great size to tuck away in a corner or along a wall, yet has a large enough tank that you don't have to refill it every day. In our large open family room a single unit made a big different, even though the room is probably large enough to warrant two of these. When the air would get dry the humidifier would run full blast for 3-4 days before needing a refill. During more humid periods it would last 7-10 days with the humidifier constantly on. The humidistat is a very nice feature for when the outside humidity is fluxuating, so the humidifier won't make a humid day worse but will automatically resume when the air dries out. Worth noting that I had to keep the humidistat set at or above 45 for the other two sensors in the room to maintain 40. Perhaps just due to the size of the room and the moisture not dissipating fast enough for the sensor to realize the whole room is not up to the set level. The biggest drawback is that there is no cover or lockout to prevent curious toddlers from playing with the buttons. A floor standing position does not work well when you have a 2 year old who loves the lights and beeps from the control display. Needless to say this quickly defeated the benefit of being able to set the controls and leave it.

        Awesome humidifier!
This humidifier is an ultrasonic cool mist humidifier which means it is essentially silent during operation. Occasionally you will hear a gurgle when the water drops from the tank to the reservoir, but that is all. It has several very nice features: 1. Delay start 2. Auto-off (basically a timer) 3. Mist output (Low to Turbo) 4. Humidistat - Allows you to set a relative humidity level in percentage (I set it to 40%). The humidifier will turn off when that percentage is reached. 5. Extension nozzle 6. Ceramic Filter - filters out impurities to only blast pure H2O into the air. 7. Remote Control I love the extension nozzle because the mist is dispersed approx 33" above the ground giving it a little extra time to dissipate, compared to other humidifiers that are closer to the ground. The actual nozzle, which can fit on the extension or straight on the tank, consists of two nozzles. You can adjust which direction, or two, you want the mist to go. Great feature! Overall, I love this thing. I can't say enough good things about it!

        Fantastic for our needs
We have had several different brands of humidifiers in the past and have never been entirely pleased with the functionality, size, and cleaning issues. This model humidifier, however, is easy to use, programmable, and very easy to clean! The Clean Mist Smart Humidifier in black is a handsome product... it looks NICE in our bedroom, rather than making our bedroom look like a sick room. The style is slim, modern, and has attractive silver trim. We placed it on a tall skinny table in our bedroom so the mist is higher up since our bed is incredibly tall. It took no time at all to remove the pieces from the box and assemble... you simply place the pieces on top of each other. The tank holds A LOT of water -- using it on medium flow, we get about 5 nights (of 8 hours) before having to refill the tank. I used filtered water from my Pur Pitcher as suggested in the instruction manual. I love the dual direction mist - the little piece on top splits in two so I can aim towards both sides of the bed. The instruction booklet is short but concise with easy to follow written directions and clear pictures. The very small remote control is an awesome feature!! The unit is programmable which means I can set it to delay start and to run a specific number of hours. For example, at 6pm I can set it to delay start at 9pm and run for 8 hours. The mist flow is adjustable (low/med/high) and I can also set a specific humidity level if desired. Setting the humidity level means the unit will start running when the humidity is less than the set amount and stop running when the desired humidity level is reached, and it will continue to cycle day and night as needed. Cleaning is sooo simple... just shake warm soapy water in the tank and then rinse thoroughly. And the filter is PERMANENT... no more buying replacement cartridges! Untwist the filter and rinse under water, that's it!. The reservoir base can be soaked in vinegar water to remove any mineral deposits that develop over time, but so far in two weeks of use I haven't needed to do this. There is a button on the remote that allows me to turn off the beep sound and dim the lights on the display which is a handy feature when using in the room of a sleeping infant or sick person - you won't disturb them while adjusting the settings on the humidifier. The only very minor drawback I found is that even with the dim button pushed, there is still light coming from the display and we like our bedroom to be completely dark at night. My solution was to go to the dollar store an purchase an eye mask which I easily slipped into place over the display. The eye mask is also black so it does not detract from the appearance of the humidifier. Problem solved!

        Fine mist and no pad!
Very easy to assemble with clear instructions. RH or humidity is clear on the digital screen. Use RO filtered water and have refilled several times with no scale or mineral build up. The mister will adjust with the settings turning off and on depending on the humidity. The mister spout is easily adjustable to all directions. The smaller spout can also be removed to mist straight up.

        Awesome Humidifier!
My son always has a lot of congestion so I have warm humidifier that I fill up every night and almost always forget to unplug it in the morning, so I decided to give the Smart Humidifier a try and I'm so happy I did!! I can't say enough about this humidifier! This humidifier is so easy to fill up and you can carry it with a handle, which for me means no more spilling water while trying to balance and carry and I will point out I fill it up about once a week not every night anymore! The control panel is simple to read and use. It has a "low water" feature and will shut off automatically for safety once it's too low...one less thing to remember.. LOVE IT! I always put my humidifier on the floor but it does have an option for placing it on a table which is great! And it's tall and slender design, verses the low bulky one I was using, makes it easier to fit in the corner and takes up less space! But the best part is, no matter where you put it there is no need for towels anymore because it doesn't make anything wet!! The carpet or table (depending on where you want it) will stay COMPLETELY DRY!!! It also has a dual mist so that it can cover more area which works great in the hall between both of my children's rooms! On top of all that there is a Humidistat which monitors/regulates the relative humidity at the setting you choose so it basically turns itself on and off as needed throughout the day!!! This humidifier is awesome!! The air quality seems so much better after only a few hours of use and all of the added features make this the best humidifier I've ever had!!! Oh, and there is also a remote (no kidding) I suppose for those lazy moments... this is not necessary in my opinion but yet another bonus! Thank you for this wonderful product!!!

        Sleek and functional
This product is a far cry from the humidifiers of long ago, big beige tubs that just looked terrible that got the job done. This is a humidifer with style and a nice helping of technological improvement. It has almost too many features to list: (1) a humidity sensor (2) auto on/off by humidity level or based on a timer (3) a bright LED display and menu sound effects that can be turned on and off (4) a ceramic filter (5) an auto shut-off when the water runs out (6) a remote control! All of those features, combined with the reasonable price, make this a pretty incredible product. Just a few things concerned me: (1) the humidity sensor read at least 10 percentage points below another sensor I have (2) filling it requires a tub or large sink, as you have to turn the the entire tank upside down and place it under the faucet (3) once filled, the tank is very heavy and awkward to maneuver, a serious issue given that you have to flip it right-side up (4) the base fills with water during use, so if you move it or remove the tank to refill the water early, some water can splash out onto the floor. Just a note on usage - I found that the humidifier could bring a room's humidity up by about 5 percentage points in a few hours at medium settings, at least according to my third-party humidity sensor - the built-in humidistat changed its reading much more slowly. I could feel that the room was more humid, so my hunch is that the humidistat function isn't completely accurate, or at least responds very slowly.

Air Innovations Clean Mist Smart Humidifier
The Clean Mist Smart Humidifier has a nice sleek design. It holds 1.7 Gallons of water. It runs quietly so its perfect for bedroom use. Once in awhile you will hear a gurgling noise from the unit but nothing to drive you crazy. The remote is a great addition but needs to be pointed directly to the front face of the unit to work properly. Some great features include a timer function, you can adjust the amount of mist along with the humidity you are trying to achieve in the room. Its a little awkward to fill the tank as you have to remove the top half and turn it upside down and sit it up to fill up. The angled design of the top makes it difficult to sit up straight while filling with water...it usually slips and slides as I fill it. To remedy the slipping, I usually place it on top of a towel to help hold in place while I fill with other hand. I would suggest to choose your spot where you would like to have the humidifier on and then put the filled tank on. Its awkward to carry the whole unit together from room to room. Also don't make the mistake of turning the tank right side up and placing on the floor before you reach the bottom reservoir, water will spill out from the bottom when the bottom lever is depressed. Am not sure how accurate the humidistat on the unit is on measuring room humidity or if it just measures the humidity right around the unit. The tank can last up to 10-12 hours on turbo and days on the lower setting. You do have to clean the bottom piece of the unit as it can get moldy. It comes with a nifty little built in brush to help with cleaning. Best feature I think is how quiet the unit runs!!

Nice, elegant and quite with few shortcomings...
Well it's a humidifier and it does what it's supposed to. The unboxing and assembly took less than 10 minutes and with that it was ready to go. Once the tank was filled up, turned up the humidity settings on it and could see the mist coming out. The extension nozzle is well thought of as my bed is little higher and would need it for sure. The remote works perfectly as long as you can get the base machine insight and within 10 feet or so. There are some good features like setting a humidity level which drives this thing. You can set it as low as 40% to as high as 100%. There are couple of things that can be added perhaps: A) Once it's operational, it's hard to move it to a different place. That's because there is water in the base, the only handle is on the tank and the tank does not latch on to the base. If you try to move it, you are risking a spill. If we could have a latch mechanism between water tank and base and have a handle from base, it would be easy to move it. B) if there would have been a transparent strip on tank to help see the water level that would have been great. Though there is a indicator on display but this would be convenient too. C) even after you turn the unit off (not power off), I could hear it humming a bit. Not sure what it is but the unit keeps on working even when it's off. A defect? As far as durability goes, the plastic seems to be just okay. Hope you don't drop the tank when filling it. It might just crack. Overall, the unit is decent enough of a humidifier and works as desired. Recommend it.

A sleek modern design and great for dry climates
I live in the dry southern California desert and having a humidifier really makes a big difference to the comfort in my home. I use in the bedroom and it helps me get a good nights sleep. This AirInovations humidifier sets up in minutes out of the box. It has a display showing the current humidity and five levels of operation : low, medium, high, supreme and even a turbo mode. And I really appreciate the remote control so you can change the settings or turn the unit on or off without having to get out of bed.

Glossy Jet Black color, Easy to install and operate
The black is a glossy jet black color. It works just as well as the other humidifiers reviewed for this company - use filtered water in the tank, screw the ceramic filter cartridge, assemble the tank to the base, plug the humidifier into an electrical outlet, and adjust the settings to your preferences. I have found that if the tank is used 24 hours in the week with the heat on, I have to replace the tank with fresh water at the end of the week.

        Nice Mister
I have to say these humidifiers are a far cry from what we used to have. The cool mist is easier to sleep in as opposed to the old steam ones, and the humidifier lasts 96 hours. They are much larger than the illustration lets on. They are hard to fill because of the height of the tank and the top is angled. This means you need to hold the tank ,turn the water on, and hit the fill hole. You need to be careful when you pick it up as the unit has a lot of. condensation

DESIGNER STYLISH and EFFICIENT AS WELL
This humidifier is very versatile because it can be placed on the floor utilizing the provided extension nozzle, or on a table or countertop using only the dual directional mist nozzle. There is an outstanding digital display on the front of the unit showing current humidity level at a glance, and a colored digital gauge shows the mist output of medium, high, supreme and turbo. Another thing I love about this humidifier is how easy it is to fill the tank. Just take the top off the base, turn it upside down, unscrew the tank cap, fill, tighten the tank cap, and place back on the base unit. No mess, no fuss. The unit offers multiple settings such as delaying the start so you can program a start time, perhaps in the evening or late in the day when you are not yet home, and there is also an auto-off feature which allows you to program a specific time when you want the unit to turn itself off. The humidistat allows you to select your preferred level of humidity and when it's reached, the unit turns itself off, then back on to maintain the humidity level. If the tank gets low on water, the unit will beep and automatically turn itself off if it runs out of water completely. An added bonus is the remote control! I especially like the dual directional mist nozzle. This means that half the nozzle can be pointed in one direction, and the other half of the nozzle in another direction. This is great if you want to place the unit behind a piece of furniture because you can control where the mist comes out. Apart from all the great features of this humidifier, it looks good too! No more having to hide a humidifier somewhere out of view - this one looks like some designer appliance from an Italian decorator!

        works great
I got this for my wife to use in her office at work because she says it is very dry in there this time of year. We set it up at home and went through the controls (which are very easy to use) and just played around with different settings. tried out the remote (which doesn't have a long range, but it's not needed). This thing is SILENT! Even on the highest misting setting you can barely hear it. She said by mid day the difference in her office was very noticeable, and she said several coworkers asked where she got it (her boss even ordered one from work). The color is VERY bright which she loved, the digital readout is clear, and the controls are very easy to use. The timer is a big help so it wont get left on and run out of water. The only thing wrong with it is that I'm going to have to buy more of them.

        Moisture in the air.
I would recommend the Clean Mist Smart Humidifier, you will not be disappointed. First the color, is bright and clean. The size and shape will fit in any room. I use this in my bedroom when I sleep at night, it adds moisture into the air during these winter months. I like filling it just once a week and not more often.LED display is easy to read. Directions are easy to follow and set up. Remote control included, this helps to operate it from the bed. Auto shut off is a nice safety feature, if the water runs out. Permanent filter that never needs to be changed. Easy to clean. I have improved the air in my bedroom for a better night sleep.

        A premium humidifier
This "smart" humidifier is rightfully named, as it is chock full of great features that make using a humidifier so much more convenient. First off, it is versatile because you can use it as a table-top unit, or by adding the extension tube, turn it into a floor unit. I opted for the latter and it fit nicely in the corner of my bedroom. The unit offers many conveniences that impressed me right from the start. The remote control is the first. It has all of the buttons/settings that the main unit does, so I can operate it without getting out of bed. Since it is in the bedroom where I like to keep it dark when I sleep, there is an option to dim the display down on the unit, which I am very grateful for. The unit also has a plethora of modes that you can use: delayed start, timed operation and humidistat. The last one is what really seals the deal on this unit, as you can set the desired humidity you want the room to reach, say 50%, and the unit will automatically shut off when it senses the room has reached that level. Other humidifiers I have owned without this feature required me to buy a separate humidistat so I can monitor the humidity in the room I set it in. However, when you are sleeping, you could easily over-humidify a room and not know it until you woke up. The unit also pumps out as much or as little mist as you want with multiple settings and I love the ingenious dual direction mist nozzle which lets you direct the mist in two different directions. The design of the unit is nice. Even though it is plastic, it looks high end. The only thing that would be a nice addition would be some sort of a way to tell how much water is in the reservoir. Because of the unit's nice design, the reservoir can't be placed flat when upside down for filling with water. If you're using tap water, that's not an issue; there's a small handle that you can hold. But if you have hard water like I do, you want to use filtered water. Using a filtered water pitcher can be cumbersome because you pour some water into the unit, screw on the cap, wait while some more water is filtered, and repeat. In the meantime, you have to position the reservoir so it doesn't fall or roll off the counter. This won't be a problem for everyone, and I'm willing to tolerate it because of how great this unit is otherwise.

        compact and silent performance
This remote control mist humidifier can be used on a table top or the floor. The nozzle provides a two directional flow of the mist into the room. The timer is very nice because it can be set for 1-24 hours for use. When testing, the five different levels of mist output is a wonderful feature. There is an auto safety shut off for this model as well. We chose the grey color and it is very nice for our home. The run-time on this model is 96 hours holding 1.7 gallons of water. It is made in China. I ranked the product a 4-star because I feel there should be some type of latch between the extension nozzle and the base. I have dropped the top off a couple of times already. The product is sturdy and does hold up to this type of accident. There is a complete colorful instructional manual included with a one year warranty.

Thoughtfully designed. Whisper quiet operation. Conditions the air and makes it easier to breath. Easy set up.
This smart humidifier from Air Innovations is well made, well designed, and packed with features. The included instructions were helpful and detailed, and contain numerous illustrations. To prepare the humidifier for operation, simply remove the reservoir from its base (taking notice of the tiny cleaning brush cleverly hidden inside the base), turn it upside-down, twist off the knob on the bottom and fill the reservoir with cold, filtered tap water and replace on the base. There is a handle on the top of the reservoir as well as on the bottom, providing a convenient hand hold when filling with water. I set my humidifier up in the kitchen to test, until I find a permanent place in the house. An hour later, I could tell the difference in the next room. I didn’t think the air I was breathing was bad, but the conditioned air was crisp and refreshing and invigorating. The colorful digital display is easy to read, even at a distance. Adjustable setting allows you to control the amount of mist. The operation of the humidifier is extremely quiet. In fact, standing next to it, you can barely hear it at all. The unit is programmable and runs on a timer from 1 – 24 hours, while a built-in humidistat monitors humidity in room. The included directional mist nozzle lets you aim the mist where you want it. A remote control and 15-inch extension nozzle for use on floor are included. This humidifier exceeds my every expectation and is highly recommended.

        Very quiet
For me, the best thing about this humidifier is that it's quiet. Very quiet. I wasn't even sure it was working when I first turned it on because it's that quiet. That makes this perfect for use in my bedroom at night because all of the others I've owned are too noisy. The second best thing is the washable ceramic filter - they're little bead-like pieces inside a plastic cartridge that screws onto the bottom. Replacing filters is costly and a pain so I really like this feature. The controls for the unit have a lot of settings and it comes with a remote, including a "Humidistat" that allows you to set the desired humidity level that you want to get to. It comes with a tall extension nozzle that says in the directions that you can then place it on the floor. This contradicts one of the warnings at the beginning of the booklet where it says to always place it on an elevated, firm, flat, level surface. The dual directional nozzle attachment is a cool feature because you can use it one direction or two just by turning the top. There's good mist output, especially when you set it on "turbo." We haven't had much rain in my and it's been warm so it's very dry in the house. The turbo setting will probably be used a lot.

Almost perfect but for one thing!
This humidifier is perfect if not for one flaw, but for now I will focus on the positives. 1) The water tank has an optional discharge extension that outputs the mist higher into the room. This helps to keep your carpet or hardwood from getting soaked if you run it while it is sitting on the floor. 2) The discharge nozzle can be rotated 360 degrees and it is split in half so half the mist can be set to go in one direction and the other half in a different one. Especially handy if you keep the humidifier near furniture or a wall that can't get wet. 3) The water tank handle is substantial and easy to grasp when carrying the tank. When not in us it lays flat against the water tank. 4) It comes with a remote control and from my testing it works from more than 25 feet away. But it requires line of sight since it is an infrared remote. 5) It has 5 different mist settings. I always leave mine on the highest setting. 6) It has a built in humidistat so you can set it to run only to maintain a certain humidity instead of it running continuously like most cheap humidifiers do. You can set it to 50% and forget about it until it runs out of water. 7) The display can be "dimmed". What these means is that most of the LED segments are turned entirely off with the exception of a few that display smaller text. 8) There is a ceramic bead filter attached to the water fill cap. This is supposed to help filter out minerals and deposits in your water. It appears it can be back flushed, this is something only time will tell if it actually works to keep the ultrasonic element clean. 9) Even on its highest output setting it is very quiet. You can hear the faint sound of water bubbling from the ultrasonic element but it is almost un-detectable. This humidifier works awesome and puts out a good amount of vapor. Our bedroom is 20ft by 15ft and it is easily able to maintain a humidity level of 50%. The remote control probably won't get used often but it will be nice for those times I'm laying in bed and forgot to turn it off or on. My only complaint about this unit is that there is no way to know how much water is left in the tank. Most humidifiers have a clear plastic tank or a sight gauge so you can quickly glance and see how much water is left. This humidifier just has a solid gray plastic water tank. The only way to tell how much water is in it is to pick it up off the base and feel how heavy it is or wait for it to run out and then refill it. Not entirely sure how this design decision made it past the usage tests. Highly recommend the manufacturer put a sight gauge running the length of the tank so at a glance the consumer knows whether it will be able to run through the night or if it needs to be filled right away. On the highest output setting it draws 25 watts of electricity while creating vapor and on the lowest it draws 15 watts. While in standby mode and not running it draws 5 watts and with the display dimmed it draws 2 watts. Aside from this flaw I love the humidifier and will just have to live with picking it up off the base to see if it needs refilling.

        Good For Smaller Rooms
I installed this in the living / family room and it helped but I admit the room was too big. It did make a difference raising the rooms humidity from the mid teens to the upper twenties. I live in the high desert above 5000' where temperatures and humidity can both run very low. I tested the unit during below zero outside temps and below 15% inside humidity. This is a great looking unit that works just as good and it's very simple to setup and operate. Its basically fill the tank with water, select the amount of humidity you want and how fast you want it to get to the humidity level desired. The unit does the rest. Running on the highest setting the unit ran for approx 30 hours before needing more water. The unit is super quiet. Even in a very quiet room I could not hear it running. So this would be ideal for a bedroom even for those that are light sleepers. The included remote is a nice touch but the unit is more set it and forget it. Overall the unit is a great and stylish way to add humidity to rooms that need it. One note, if you have hard water you will notice a white dust on the humidifier and on anything within a foot or so of the unit. It wipes right off and does not stick to anything. Its really not a problem just something to be aware of.

Medium Purple Color, Prefer as Floor Unit rather than Table Unit, Easy to Use
Since the humidifier is quite large, I opted to use it as a floor unit so I won't have to worry about it being knocked over and damaged; under this option, I used the enclosed extender and nozzle as recommended by the manufacturer.. Unlike the other 2 humidifiers (gray and teal), the remote battery was dead on arrival and the ceramic cartridge wasn't pre-installed - not a major concern at all especially since I had an extra CR 2032 battery and the ceramic cartridge just screws in place once the filtered water is added to the unit. Like the other humidifiers, the remote and functions on the unit are easy to use.
