Installing some 1/4" mdf on the back of a frame for some wainscoting and it worked like a charm. So nice to not have a loud compressor and long hose to deal with.

          AWESOME
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Ever since I got this I tested it out on many applications and i must say I'm blown away. Was skeptical at first but seems like I'm going to have to switch over to cordless. No compressor, no hoses very portable especially with the belt clip. Little heavy but not a deal breaker. Depth control is great and multi fire is very smooth. Definitely exceeded my original expectations.

I have used this stapler enough times to feel confident it will continue to do it's job for many years. I purchased this stapler to save time and effort. I didn't want to lug a generator, compressor, and hoses out of the trailer any more thus saving time and effort. That being said, I have found that I cannot use this to attach J-channel. With or without rubber tip, I cannot get the tip to depress in order to shoot staples because of how narrow j-channel is and how wide the front end on stapler. This drops review a star because it now limits scope of use for tool. Everything else has been great. Stapler is light enough to carry with you or on ladder with attached hook and 2AH battery lasts a good deal, although most of my other batteries are 5AH because I use the snot out of my cordless tools. I hope DeWalt checks reviews and can rectify new products to better serve customers.

Really nice setup, nice adjust-ability. If you've used the Dewalt framing nailer, this is very similar in terms of functionality. Very easy to adjust depth control - nice big knob you can work with gloved. Enough power to drive through plywood, and enough adjustment to back off an not ruin MDF too. Very nice double LED lights on the bottom, shining upward (for obvious reasons) Kit does only come with one battery, so you might want another.... or just get some other kits!

The DeWalt 20-volt 18-gaurge cordless narrow crown stapler is a welcome addition to your workshop. Since this stapler is cordless and loaded with tons of features, you can basically take it anywhere and deal with any project. The powerful brushless motor easily drives staples ranging from 1/2 inch to 1 1/2 inch in length. Adjusting the depth at which you want to countersink your staples is as simple as turning a dial. Another nice feature is you can shoot one staple at a time or use bump action for sequential stapling. Both of these features are easily adjusted and require no tools at all. The battery is compact and light, which helps keep the overall weight of the stapler down. Some additional features include two LED lights to illuminate your work area, low nail lockout which prevents from dry firing, bottom loading magazine for easy loading as well as an adjustable belt hook. In conclusion this is a great tool that will help you tackle a variety of tasks.

            Finally, Mobile Stapling Anywhere
As long as you have a charged battery, this can go anywhere. No more air compressors or air lines to drag through the house. I have tried some other brands of battery nailers and staplers, but this one actually delivers. There is a fair amount of adjustment, it has plenty of power, and plenty of options, including lights. You can switch from single to bump action, Clearing jams just needs a good pair of long nose plyers, and it handles several sizes of staples. A bit heavy, but not as heavy as some. The on-board compressor quickly gets up to pressure and you will be happy with the quick action. I'm very happy with this model. It even comes with a carry case.

            Awesome DeWalt Narrow Crown Stapler
I don't know how I ever lived without my new DeWalt 20 volt 18 gauge cordless narrow crown stapler kit. It's powerful, easy to load and drives the staples deep. I have a stapler kit that runs off my compressor and I thought it did a great job until I got the DeWalt cordless stapler. It accepts 1/2 inch to 11/2 inch long, 1/4" narrow crown staples. It has a powerful 20v brushless motor and has a selectable trigger for sequential or contact actuation. It comes with a heavy nylon carrying bag and one battery and charger. it comes with a 3year limited warranty; 1 year free service and 90 day money back guarantee on the tool and the battery has a 3year limited warranty and 2year free service warranty. I'd definitely recommend this stapler for the professional or home maintenance man.

            Powerful and Efficient
So one of the summer projects around here was to start building some wooden raised garden boxes of various shapes and sizes. So after getting the wood cuts prepared, I went ahead and used this crown stapler to secure the boards together, and was quite pleased with how effective and sturdy they came out. This is great for situations where you don't want to use something as powerful as a nail gun, but still want a similar result in the end. Great product!

            Gets the job done!
This review is for the DeWalt 18 Gauge Narrow Crown Stapler, model DCN681D1, which I was given a chance to check out. I’m a homeowner DIY’er, not a professional tradesman so this review will come from the homeowner viewpoint. The DeWalt kit comes with the stapler, one 2 a/h 20-volt battery, and battery charger, along with a nifty tool bag. The bag has three external pockets on each side, one of which (on each side) is large enough to hold a 2 a/h battery (see attached photo). There are no internal pockets inside the bag, but it is plenty big enough to hold the stapler, battery, charger, and more. A single zipper secures the bag closed. The bag isn't padded, so things inside may get knocked into each other during transport. Any DeWalt 20-volt battery will work in the stapler so I purchased a twin-pack of 2 a/h batteries as backups. These batteries are amazingly lightweight. The battery has a “gauge” that shows how much charge is left at the touch of a button (See Photo). If the battery gets low the left side ‘headlamp’ on the stapler will blink four times and then stop working until the battery is charged or replaced. The DeWalt can handle staples from ½” to 1 ½” long in 18 gauge ¼” size. The magazine can hold 100 staples and there is a safety feature that prevents “dry firing” of the staple gun. There is also a small window in the magazine that allows you to see when the staples are getting low. No staples were included in the kit. I find the machine to be a bit of a beast – it weighs nearly 6 pounds when loaded with staples and a 2 a/h battery. It’s not unwieldy, the balance isn’t at all bad in my hand, but it’s a bit heavier than my brad nail gun (which is not a DeWalt). It’s also loud (to be expected with this type of tool) and I would advise wearing ear protection. Eye protection, is of course, a given. My wife grows roses and a frequent ‘honey-do’ for me is to build or repair a rose trellis; the DeWalt handles this task easily. I had some repairs to do after this weekend and the DeWalt arrived just in time. I’ve experienced zero misfires or jams – the DeWalt simply works as advertised. I decided to use DeWalt brand staples – since I’m not a pro I won’t be buying a ton of them, and I figure the odds of jams are lower if I stick with the same brand as the stapler. For installing something like stained molding, I think a brad nail gun would work better, because the stapler makes a wider divot; on the other hand, when putting up to-be-painted molding in the garage the DeWalt allows me to take fewer shots (the staples hold better) and the divot left behind isn’t a problem – a quick dab of putty prior to painting handles the task. Installing molding using the DeWalt stapler may leave a larger hole to be filled in than a brad nail will leave, but it certainly has no trouble in handling the task of installing molding and I’m finding that I can get by with fewer holes because the staples hold better. Fit and finish of the tool are excellent. As a DIY’er I can’t comment on the battery life – I just received the tool and haven’t had a major project; the minor ones I’ve worked on so far haven’t run down a single battery, let alone the two spares I bought. I don’t think I would be comfortable having a single battery – batteries do fail and it’s nice to have backups on hand. A pro carpenter might be better able to address battery life of the DeWalt 2a/h batteries. The included kit battery arrived with less than ¼ charge and took a bit more than an hour to bring up to full charge. The same applied to the two other batteries I bought (not included with this kit). The tool offers ‘headlamps’ that light up the general work area (not the specific aiming point of the staple), and has a reversible belt hook. There is also a ‘staple jam’ light and a method to clear jams – see the owner’s manual for specific details on that. As noted, I’ve not experienced a jam up so I haven’t had to use that feature. Also, there is a depth adjustment wheel, to adjust how far the staples go into the work. Of course, that depends upon the material being worked upon and the length of staples being used. Loading staples is a piece of cake, just open the magazine, slide in a new rack of staples, and close the magazine. (Don’t forget to remove the battery first!!!). It did take me a moment to realize that you simply drop the staples in the open rack of the magazine (the crown of the staples go against the back of the magazine); I was looking for the type of insertion point like you find on a standard stapler. “Bump” stapling (where you can hold down the trigger and the tool fires when it comes in solid contact with the work area) is offered but, as a DIY’er, I’m much more comfortable using the “Sequential” stapling, where you can carefully place your shot and then squeeze the trigger to fire the staple into the work. YMMV – if you’re doing a large production job then “Bump” stapling might be the way to go. There is an on/off safety switch in the trigger area, much like most cordless drills. See the attached photo. Not being a professional tradesman I won’t be using the DeWalt every day – but it certainly makes a fine addition to my workshop and I see no reason why it doesn’t deserve a full five stars. This tool isn't inexpensive, but I think the 'value' based on price/performance is right up there. There are cheaper tools on the market but I think the DeWalt will last long enough to 'pay for itself' in time and aggravation saved on home repairs. The DCN681D1 Stapler is not made in the U.S., but DeWalt offers a three-year limited warranty, plus 1 year of free service which includes items worn out during normal operation. The 2 a/h batteries have a 2-year service guarantee. HTH Regards, Jim
