The specs for staples say:

Shank !8 gauge
Crown width 1/4"

A: Finish nailer ( shoot 15-16 gauge nails )- it is the strongest nailer and shoots the biggest nails. Excellent choice for crown molding. Brad nailer ( shoot 18 gauge nails )- it is also a strong nailer but weaker than the finish nailers. It can be used for crown molding when a finish nailer is not available.

Answer This Question
A: It should work. I've installed 3/4" plywood with it. Though instead of crown staples I'd use brad nails. There's another gun by DeWalt that's basically the same model but uses brad nails.

Q:Can the 18volt dewalt batteries be used in this stapler? I am reluctant to purchase yet another type of battery. I'm not a contractor. I need to shoot a couple dozen 1 inch crown staples in a day into half inch thick mdf that is double stacked.
