3 cu. ft. Peat Moss

I'm sharing this because I've been laying grass seed for years. This peat is perfect - fine, no sticks. When watering the peat soaks it up and doesn't shrink as it dries - stays where you put it. In 3 days, I had grass!

I bought this to cover the grass seed on a new lawn I installed. It worked great. The one thing you have to know is this is highly compressed, and getting it to completely separate takes effort. It tends to clump in different-sized clumps. I ended up slicing open a bag in a large wheelbarrow, then using a flat-blade shovel to repeatedly shave parts off the bale and chop it fine. I covered about 1,500 square feet of yard with 5 bags, at a coverage of about 1/4" thickness. HD Note: you should publish a photo of the back of the bag, not just the front. The back of the bag has directions on use including coverage area.

I have clay soil and this was very helpful to lighten it, my plants are really noticing the difference

I picked up the bag of peat moss as I was planting new grass seed and wanted a nice firm covering so it wouldn't be disturbed by animals. The contents of the moss are great and while you might have some small sticks it's easy to remove it and apply more moss to the ground and provide security to the newly planted grass seed. Very easy to grab and layer it on the ground. Very happy with the product and def will be getting more of it. A key feature I really like is you can tell when you need to water the area again as the moss gets a little lighter in color.

I think I got a lemon this time. I have purchased this product onsite at Home Depot stores many times with no issues. This last time I ordered Express Delivery from Home Depot, which shipped from their warehouse in Oakland, and maybe this is where they store defective items? The Sunshine Peat Moss packaging looked the same, but inside it's definitely not 100% peat moss. It looks more like potting mix with perlite already mixed in. It's also drier and less "sticky" than the usual Sunshine peat moss. It seems to be a completely different product, please see my photos. I emailed SunGro, the manufacturer of Sunshine Peat Moss, and asked if this was production mistake or if the product has changed permanently. Hope this is a one off mistake and I can get the original Sunshine Peat Moss back...

I have used this product for years and love it. The "Sunshine" brand is the one we use to "top-dress" newly seeded lawns. There isn't too much fluff or bark filler.

If you're interested in this product because the brand is Canadian, call ahead. The brand they had in my store was Premier, and it's U.S. peat moss.

I found this peat moss to be very rich.It was easy to work with and it really enhanced my garden.
