Awesome antenna! Bought two and will buy another for my adult child who also cut the cord. All this time I was paying so much money to watch Anderson Cooper & General Hospital. I miss Anderson and get the soap opera on Hulu. Love the Winegard & wish I had bought it earlier!

Very good antenna, pulled in 20-25 more stations than my existing amplified antenna. I was also able to mount behind the TV with excellent reception instead of running the cable across the room to a window.

I purchased this item after doing some research on the Winegard or the Mohu Leaf. I chose the Winegard and it has not disappointed. I am a 61 year old single woman and I had the antenna up in 15 minutes. So easy! I placed in the window and did have to connect the amplifier however my goal was to get the major networks, 4, 5 8,11 and after the first try I received 70 stations which had all the primary ones I wanted. I'm so pleased that I didn't even try repositioning for even more stations. I'm a happy camper to finally cut the cable cord.

    Not for me
I purchased this anntana because I didn't want to pay for a monthly cable TV service. I installed the antenna exactly like the instructions said and I couldn't get any pictures not one channel.I even moved it around to different areas of the room and still no signal. I'm thinking maybe I was either too far from the Tower or I had trees and the buildings interfering with the signal .I decided to return it and get my money back. I would have been happy if it picked up at least one channel but that wasn't the case. Maybe it will work for you. Home Depot has a great return policy so if it doesn't work you can always return it in the store which is what I did.

Didn't get as many channels as advertised
Hooked this up to our HDTV as instructed and ran the auto-tune on the TV to pick up all the available channels. We got maybe 10 and half of them are random channels, very few local channels. We were hoping to ditch the cable for a TV we don't use as often and were disappointed this won't be doing the job. At least the few channels that come in at least come in in HD.

It's light and easy to put up and works great here in the city. All my OTA channels are great and paired up with Tivo Roamio OTA and Sling TV subscription and I have all I need so I got rid of the cable company.

      FREE HDTV!
This antenna is awesome. It works very well. We live in a single family home in South Florida and get great reception. The antenna is installed in the living room behind the TV. The low profile of it makes it really easy to conceal. I can pick up all the major stations around my area. I can also reach stations in areas that are over 30 miles away. I found that placing the antenna close to a window worked best, however, that wasn't convenient for me. I am approximately 10 feet away from the nearest window and it works.

      Free local channels!
First of all, I highly recommend you do an internet search to see what "over-the-air" local channels should be available in your area. In the instructions, Winegard has a website tool to help you out: winegard.com/selector . Setup is extremely easy and the instructions are very helpful. It is recommended to use this flat indoor antenna on a window, but it can also be attached to a wall. I used painter's tape to tape to temporarily attach it to my wall and window while trying to find the best location for the antenna. Double-sided tape is provided to attach it to it's final location. It is definitely recommended to place the antenna as high as possible, and a window will give you better results. This dual-band antenna is amplified, providing a range for HD signals up to 50 miles. The amplifier is small and can be powered either by your TV's USB port or a wall outlet with the provided USB cord and wall adapter. Whats nice about it being powered by your TV is that you will save some energy because the amplifier will turn off while your TV is off. The coaxal cable length is about 18.5" long, which should be sufficient for most uses. This flat HDTV antenna is basically paper thin at about 0.02" thick! After attaching to your TV, run a channel scan to see what it picks up. Results will definitely vary based on your location, and your antenna's location...but I was able to find 37 channels, all for free! Its nice to stop paying for cable/satellite and get free local channels! Definitely recommend!

      Very nice
I've been wanting to cut the cable cord for quite some time. I installed the flat wave amped hd indoor antenna in my basement and I was happily surprised with the quality of the picture that I received as well as the quantity of channels that I received. I live in a metro area. I knew that I would be able to pick up all of the local channels but never expected the quality that I received in the basement. All I needed to do was hang it on the wall and plug it in. After that I let the TV search for channels and that was it. The directions recommends doing a search monthly to see if new channels have been added.

Easy to use, be sure to check your area first!
This antenna is very sleek, and incredibly easy to set up. It's basically a plug and play, all you need to do is plug the device in, position the antenna where you'd like it, and then run a channel search. I held the antenna in several locations to find the best spot before adhering it using the included Command Strips. That being said, I encourage you to run a channel search at http://www.winegard.com/select/window.php?s=winegard before you buy. This device is NOT a miracle worker. I have a HUGE rock wall behind my house, and previously was only able to pick up one channel. With the Flat Wave Amped, I got four. However, from the scanner, I knew that was likely, so I'm not upset. I tested this antenna at a friends house, and got many more, very clear channels.

By far the best indoor antenna!
This is by far the best indoor antenna, at least for my specific area. Of all the indoor antennas, this one receives the most channels and the most mainstream broadcast channels (ABC, NBC, FOX, CBS, PBS, CW, ION). The design is exactly the same as other branded antennas, so it is widely used across different brands. It is extremely flat and very lightweight, so it can be taped to the wall or window if you don't mind how it looks. It comes with 3M command strips for this purpose. It's white, but I don't think it can be painted without negatively affecting performance. You absolutely should take the time to place it in just the right place. Even a few inches in any direction along the wall made a major difference in the channels I received, so take the time to find the 'sweet spot' and enjoy your free HD reception! Pair this with high speed internet and you're good to go!

      Great reception! Cut the cord!
Love this flat wave antenna! Had a previous flat tv antenna since cutting our cable cord a number of years ago. This flat antenna comes with a powered amplifier that really helps bring in distance or low signal channels! You can use it either with the black side or white side out, making it versatile if you want to hide it. Would highly recommend for anyone looking to cut cable!

"TOP RATED" INDOOR HDTV ANTENNA, BUT HERE'S SOME THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW!
This writer's review of the Winegard Flatwave FL5500A Indoor HDTV antenna will start off differently than other reviews as in the beginning I won't focus on the product, but rather, the "user" of this antenna. If you live in a home, you might want to use a Winegard "exterior/chimney mount" antenna for better results and point it in the proper direction of your broadcast towers. I live in a condominium and I don't have that option. Also, you may want to go on to websites like tvfool.com (and there are other websites!) and see where your broadcast towers are located to determine distance as well. Try to consider that things like buildings blocking reception and tall trees and, yes, even atmospheric conditions like wind and rain "can" effect this TV antenna's or other TV antennas' performance. The other product reviewers who indicate that a window mount is best are correct--when the antenna is mounted in the proper location. When I first did set up, I did try positioning this antenna in several locations on the best window exposure that I have available and I got fantastic results ("45" TV channels!), but when I lowered my 1" aluminum mini blinds most of the channels were lost.. It was because the aluminum blinds blocked the broadcast signal from reaching the antenna. I found out that by replacing the above 1" aluminum blinds with 1" VINYL BLINDS that came close to matching the aluminum ones in appearance that this did the trick. I got back ALL 45 TV channels--as if the blinds were in the full open position. Another tip a Winegard representative told me is "not" to incorporate a coaxial "extension" cable of more than 10 feet in length as this could also negatively effect the antenna's reception. In the 2+ years that I have been using this model, I've replaced them a few times as I will eventually get problems with no signal or pixelization and I believe that something happens to the antenna's amplifier over time. This is why I gave this great antenna a "4" star rating and not a "5" star rating. The user of this antenna will have better results over time (I believe) if their television has a USB port on their TV as connecting the antenna's amplifier to the TV's USB port will give the antenna's amplifier some "rest" when the TV is not in use. When the antenna's amplifier is plugged into a wall outlet (another option), it stays on all of the time. This antenna, they say, was modeled after military mud flap technology and it has a dark side and a white side so it can better blend in with your interior décor. When mounting this antenna with the included 3m Command Strips (X2), be careful not to cover the "wires" that are integrated into the antenna's body. You can best see them by holding the antenna up to the light. The antenna comes with two 3m Command Strips, but I use four 3m Command Strips for better stability. It's appropriate to mention that Winegard has great tech support. Please don't forget to do those TV channel scans which are recommended to be done every 30 days, but I don't conduct them nearly as often. Even the cable companies recognize that there are large numbers of people out there who want to cut-the-cable and save money, so why not give this option a try--if all you are able to do or want to do is utilize the best there is out there in an indoor HDTV antennas?

      Not bad.
Does an OK job. You have to point the antenna toward the broadcast tower otherwise you don't pick up the station.

Must use on window. excellent product!
Don't listen to the bad reviews. They don't know what they are doing! I have hung 3 antennas now and I do know what I'm talking about. I have 3 antennas by 3 different makers. They are pretty much all the same. But to get good reception it really should hang on a window, preferably facing the nearest tv station transmitter towers up to 50 miles away. We get All the channels south of us and repeat channels north of us in the next county! But you gotta play with moving it around to get the best reception AND you should rescan for channels once you find the best location. Hope this helps.

Would not pull in stations over 30 miles away
Was not much better than the rabbit ears that I compared it with and was about twice the cost. Needs to be hung on a wall so that limits which direction it can be pointed. Did not bring in stations from as few as 30 miles away even on the seocnd floor. Reception was good for closer stations.
