We've had this refrigerator for seven years, now. Overall, I'm happy with its performance - it's quiet and has been reliable. The ONE thing that irks me though, is the use of plastic in the door handle. Both the original door handle AND a replacement handle have broken. (Not the handle itself, but the horizontal piece that attaches the top of the handle to the door.) Frankly, we are simply not hard on things and I believe this to be a design error. We have a second smaller Whirlpool refrigerator in our game room that, despite being a cheaper model, has held up beautifully.

If we maintain the temperature in the freezer at 0 degrees, the food in the refrigerator is frozen. if we increase the temperature in the refrigerator, the freezer is too warm. This is totally unacceptable. We have a technician coming next week to look at the problem

Bought this refrigerator to replace a 20 year old Whirlpool of the same size and configuration. Unfortunately we did not look at the fridge in the store, they did not have a floor model. But all our appliances over the years have been Whirlpool, we've liked them and always thought they had an edge on quality. Well, that has surely changed in a big way since we equipped our kitchen with Whirlpool appliances 20 years ago. When we opened this refrigerator to move the contents from the old one, we were appalled with the quality inside: all flimsy and cheapest materials, very thin shelves, exceptionally thin trim on the shelves, no trim on any of the door shelves. The shelves bow with any little weigh. Fruit drawers don't glide evenly. The freezer door storage rack has such a narrow bottom that it's useless for storage, everything falls through the huge gap. Freezer door was not level with fridge door, with a difference of a full 1/4"on the right side. Although following the printed instructions, we have not been able to fully make it level, still crooked. The old fridge had developed a couple of problems due to age but the quality and features had nothing to do with this one. We thought this refrigerator was expensive in comparison to others from other brands that we looked at and liked. Wanting to stick with Whirlpool led us to a really bad purchase but the problem is that we are stuck with this for the foreseeable future.

Bought this in April, Now December and replacing broken handle. Ergonomics are poorly designed. I am a 6'2 and everything is way low, Top shelf has a control panel running down the middle not allowing for tall bottles to placed there. you loose 4 inches of functional prime real-estate on the top shelf. There was not a floor modle to look at, but still i do not thik I would have noticed all these flaws till actually using it. I wanted something a little bigger then my 20 year old fridge, and I missit. Smaller but a whole lot more funtional and handles were mage of metal and did not break in 6 months. If I could buy another fridge I would.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Fridge has good space. It’s pretty deep. However since day one it’s had a lot of precipitation in the fridge portion. This has lead to excessive puddles almost daily. Additionally the freezer does not produce ice. Instead it has just poured water into the ice bin. Not an ideal start to a brand new appliance.

The compressor consuption is arround 70W, vs. 100W with the old Whirlpool 20.3 cubic feet refrigerator. In the de-frosting mode the power consumption is 170w vs. 335w in the old model. Great!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I had a 21 year old Maytag refrigerator that was excellent. It was built with quality materials. Unfortunately I needed to replace it,and chose a Whirlpool. The new Whirlpool is built with flimsy plastic parts inside. The deli drawer slides out too easily and too far so that it fell off the track. The freezer door storage racks in the inside have such wide gaps that frozen foods that are stored there slip through and onto the floor. My old refrigerator had shelves that slid out for easy access. This new refrigerator does not.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This was actually my replacement! They upgraded my friedge since the one I had was on back order, I really appreciated that. The delivery was very standard, it arrived in about 10 days. This unit is a major upgrade from my last whirlpool refrigerator. The compartments are much bigger/wider— more space to store condiments in the door. The freezer has a nice size shelf, lots of room. Doesn’t come with an ice maker, but lots of space to place an icebox on top or bottom shelf. I love the light features in the fridge and the freezer, very convenient! Thanks Whirlpool!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Our small kitchen could not accommodate a huge refrigerator. This was the best we saw of the medium sized ones. From the day of delivery, the freezer seal was not gripping well in the top front of the door. We had icicles, thawing icicles, refreezing ice and could not figure out why. Tried all the solutions recommended in the manual and the "helpline." Whirlpool agreed to have their local contractor come look at it under warranty. Contractor was very good & the serviceman fixed the bad seal by remolding the strip with a heat gun. It's now been a month and it is still a good seal. Clearly a manufacturing issue that was not done correctly. Personally, I don't like the new configuration with deep shelves/pockets in the door and shelves in the body of the fridge that cannot be deep enough to come out to the door. There's more bending over to find things. But they are in most all of the refrigerators now.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Bought this refrigerator about a month or so ago and had to have a replacement soon after I received it.. Water kept dripping down the back wall. However the replacement is doing the same thing. I found a puddle of water on the top shelf of fridge. Need to have a service man come and inspect it. This is not what I expect from a brand new fridge. Its obvious its cheaply made. Would not recommend this Whirlpool refrigerator.

I bought the old model since 15 years and still working, I just need to know how much horse power it is.

Purchased April 2022, now the unit will not cool. The freezer does not go below 40 degrees and the fridge is at 60. Whirlpool will not do any thing about this since it 3 months past warranty. There quality in components is very poor. Replaced the thermostat, starter relay and the bimetal switch. Will not purchase a whirlpool product again.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This was actually provided free to me from Penelec's Warm program because my old fridge was using too much electricity. Same size and style as the old refrigerator. This one has bigger compartments on the door and has one more door shelf than the old one, so there's lots of room for condiments and jars. The only thing I don't like is that in the freezer the door shelf has too big a gap between the bottom and the front. A lot of things fall through the door shelf.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We have used mostly Whirlpool appliances since 1971 with zero problems. We moved from California in 2006 to Nevada with a 2004 Whirlpool washer and dryer, still working well when Nevada home sold in Febrfuary 2023, as were the 2006 Whirlpool refrigerator, dishwasher and stove. This whirlpool refrigerator came with a new house in New Mexico, as did the Whirlpool dishwasher, electric range and microwave. We would have preferred a larger model, but the builder offered no options. Only issue was the creaking noise when door opened/closed. Not a hinge lubrication issue, as the height adjust wheel assemblies in the front were the culprit. The noise was eliminated by lowering the front chassis onto hardwood blocks. Why not make a warranty claim? Good question. Trying to do so online, the system does not recognize model/serial number. Easier to do myself. When the frig needs to be moved forward to clean behind, a 13 mm socket will raise the chassis off the blocks. That issue and smaller size aside, it seems to be a good unit as of this date (July 2023) VERY annoying to be required to remove ad blockers to be able to post this review.
