[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I love the features. The ease of using the presets, the sensing feature for optimal performance. It fits nicely over my electric range, and because its a low profile model there is plenty of height between the two. The fan and light modes have 4 levels which is great and i use med low most of the time. Its quiet.

Installed this a few weeks ago and love it. Not tall enough for french press beaker but i ordered a water kettle instead. Gave me back almost 8 inches insoace between stove top and microwave when i repkaced the 13 year old one i had in there. Also LED light is bright and the fan is strong.

The idea of this microwave is brilliant, it just has a long way to go from being something I recommend purchasing. We installed this microwave ourselves. This product is very heavy and you have to put some muscle into it to get it up on the support bracket. We had exactly 30 inches space within the cabinets to put the microwave and it fit, but you have to have your measurements perfect. The feature I love most about this microwave is that I have almost 21 inches from the bottom of the microwave to the top of my beloved gas range. The fan is powerful and seems to get the cooking smell out of the house. The things I don't like about this microwave is that there is no express cook, no timer defrost and you have to push several buttons to cook. So, with the controls being inside the door you can either push the number for the time (which means you push 3-4 buttons, close the door, then push start) or just close the door and push the +30 second button 2-6 times until you get the time you want. The microwave I was using before had Express Cook 1-6 minutes, and I only pushed one button to turn on the microwave. The defrost is also subpar. You can defrost poultry, meat or fish only. There is a quick defrost (5 button pushes later) but it takes 5 minutes. My old microwave had a timer defrost, so you could pop in frozen fruit defrost for just 1 minute. When cooking bacon it takes 4 minutes 10 seconds for 6 pieces of bacon (3 button pushes, close the door, then push start). The microwave cooks the bacon on the outside more than on the inside, so you have to cut the bacon in half, take it out after 4 minutes and flip the inside of the bacon to the outside of the pan and cook it normal for 2 more minutes.

Great microwave! Fits perfect in my space and was easy to install. I'm ecstatic that I could get rid of the old microwave on my counter. Time to upgrade my other appliances!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] When I decided to update my 47 year old farm-style kitchen, I wanted to keep its classic aesthetics to the extent possible, so I decided on new white appliances instead of the typical black or stainless that are popular now. To increase counter space, I wanted an over the range microwave, but most are so bulky that they awkwardly block the view of the range. This Whirlpool is ideal—not much larger than the vent hood that it replaces. Installation was relatively easy, although the instructions are a bit convoluted. My old vent hood was hard wired, so I had to install an outlet in the upper cabinet—not difficult. Using the backplate as a template for the holes in the upper cabinet was not as easy as the instructions seem to indicate. My kitchen has a ceramic tile backsplash, which made it more difficult to drill the necessary holes, especially for the end toggle bolts. But as DIY projects go, it was easy if tedious—I spent several hours doing the electrical work and making sure of hole locations, and solidly mounting the backplate into studs and also using the toggle bolts at the ends. Once the backplate was solidly installed, my son and I easily lifted the microwave into place, so that the final installation took less than 10 minutes. It has taken a little getting used to setting it before closing the door, but that makes for a neater, cleaner appearance. It is more powerful than my old countertop microwave, which has also taken a little getting used to. But the microwave part works perfectly. Although its vertical dimension is noticeably less than other over the range microwaves, it is entirely adequate for just about anything one would want to put into a microwave. And the vent part is marvelous! I have it venting through the roof, just like the old vent hood did. On the lowest of 4 speeds, it’s more powerful (and quieter) than the old vent hood was on high. On the highest speed, it’s noisier, but very efficient. I usually start it on high and then reduce the speed as necessary to accomplish the venting. Good venting is a necessity, because my next appliance will be a new gas range. But even with the electric range, being able to vent steam and vapors well can be important. Overall, I’m so far very happy with this microwave/vent hood.

We have an older home with less clearance over the stove than newer homes. The microwave replaced a standard over the stove microwave. We are so glad we went with the low profile microwave. It has many nice features and provided we have needed for a long time. Can’t wait until the matching range gets back in stock.

This microwave takes some getting used to. I've had it 2 1/2 weeks. There are external soft-touch buttons for surface light, fan, add 30 seconds, stop (cancel), and open (the door). You have to open the door to access other settings and the timer. It's shorter than normal (about 6.5 inches from top to the glass tray) -- great for a cup of water or reheating smaller casseroles. Works well and the shorter height really opens up access to my stove top, which was my main goal. Surface light is good and the fan works well.

So when my husband and I saw this combination and all the reviews on it, we knew this was going to be a huge upgrade for us. The install was a little difficult, but only because we have an outdated kitchen and wiring in our home (70's Tri-level), but once it was in, it opened up counter space for us and it looks amazing! The fan can be a little loud on the highest setting, but it doesn't bother us. The power of the fan and unit is awesome, plus the sleek-looking Fingerprint-resistant Black Stainless Steel. Definitely want to get the rest of my appliances from Whirlpool!

Delivery personnel were timely, polite, and accurate. The box contained all parts required for a fast and easy installation. My only suggestion is to add additional mounting screws and anchors. The mounting plate is designed for wall with different stud spacing; additional screws and anchors would provide additional anchoring for an even more secure installation; I provide my own. It looks great, just wish this size came in a Samsung model to match my range.

We are in absolute awe over this microwave...it has so many features and is easy to operate without taking a hour to read the manual...very good high/low lighting..4 fan speeds which runs very smooth not loud at all..the key pad is behind the door which we really like...surprisingly roomy inside... Very easy to install.... We would recommend this Whirlpool to anyone looking for a sleeker design!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this and installed this just last week. Love the look in our kitchen of the Stainless steel black. We wouldn't have been able to mount our microwave above our oven range without the low profile style.

It fits perfectly above my range. I have so much more counter space since I finally got rid of my old microwave. It works for defrosting and cooking just great. The only thing I would wish for is to be able to find replacement vent filters and light bulbs on this website, so I know they are the correct ones.

I love the look, I love that it’s a microwave, light & fan all in one and has so many options, including the smaller size on The outside but still full size inside! The only thing I find a little bothersome is that when you are cooking something on front burner that steams it goes up the front of the microwave, not totally under it into the fans.

Every time she uses it she has to adjust the carousel to fit the the right spot in the white center spinner and the 3 wheeled triangle shaped roller guide! But every time after she uses it & opens the door the glass carousel is off and sitting crooked. Sh she not have to go through this. Why would you have a triangle shaped guide!!!

Love everything about it! Replaced an almost new Maytag full size which was a piece of junk as far as construction and quality. This one is very nice with a very good 4 showed exhaust fan. The interior keypad takes some getting used to but with the ability to add 30 second increments with the start button is almost not needed. Very happy overall

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is the first microwave I have ever had rust develop on the sharp edges. I have waited a long time for a model that fits above a the stove and not obstruct the store work area. Very disappointed when I found rust developing on edges that were obviously not well sealed. My last microwave was a countertop model I used for 15 yrs. without any issues. It still works!

I rate the product with 4 stars and the Installation & User guide with 1 star. Whirlpool has been around for a long time and it’s a name that I trust to builds solid products; That is until I received this new Microwave. Now I’m worried I might have made the wrong choice. The first thing I see are Misspelled word stamping in the mounting support and the roof vent plate on the Microwave. Mounting plate is stamped as “REAL” instead of “REAR” for the rear wall and the Vent cover plate is stamped as “ROOT” instead of “ROOF” for the roof venting option. (see Photos) I see other reviews with the same comment. Apparently, Whirlpool has no quality controls in place on their manufacture contractors. This is making me question the quality of the microwave. Someone at Whirlpool needs to jump on a plane and go straighten out their third-party contractor. The Installation instructions are vague and need to be rewritten. It should tell you that the there are 3 venting choices, Recirculation (default), Roof or wall. Instructions only emphasize on Roof and Wall installation. I thought those were my only choices. I had to “Chat” Whirlpool if I could use the recirculation option. The mounting plate is also used as a template for the locating the upper forward cabinet drill holes, but the instructions are vague about it. Lucky, I found a YouTube how-to on mounting this microwave. Only after viewing it, I could understand what the instructions was trying to explain. There is nothing intuitive about their installation instructions. The User Guide is also vague. Most guides will show a diagram of the face of the microwave labeling all the buttons. When reading on how to set the clock or any other function requiring hitting the “Start/Enter” button; there is no button that says “Start/Enter”. It turns out to be the sideways “triangle” button. A diagram of the buttons would have saved a lot of time. Again, someone at Whirlpool needs to read these current instructions and rewrite them where they are up to Whirlpool standards. There should be no questioning on how to install and operate this product if the instructions were properly written. The microwave is installed and is operating great at this time. I hope I don’t regret purchasing this product in a couple of months.

My husband's favorite feature is the tone for when the cycle is finished cooking. The fan settings are a great feature and powerful as the light settings. My only disappointment is the panels on the side are difficult to clean and seemed to be made of flimsy material.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this a month and a half ago, and I love how it fit in the narrow space above my range. No other microwave could’ve fit in there. I just wish it was able to vent through the top middle up through my exhaust that leads outside. Instead, it only vents through the top edge (which is why it has to stick out past the upper cabinets). Hope they come up with a design that is flush with the cabinets and that vents to the outdoors. Also, when I use the buttons inside the door to program a cook time, the microwave makes a louder noise when it starts up. I may call on this just to make sure it’s normal. Otherwise, it works great and warms my food thoroughly.

There is a 6 inch difference in total height of the microwaves, giving you that much more to the top of our glass cooktop. The depth of this microwave makes up for it and honestly you can’t tell that it’s deeper looking at the front. My wife loves it. Although a little loud when starting it works well.

This microwave is very aesthetically pleasing but powerful and easily fits everything I need warmed up. The vent is also quite powerful. My only complaint is the light underneath. It's not as bright as I had hoped but we have good lighting so it's fine.

A great unit, low profile does not take away much interior space, if any! Still getting used to what it can do, so far it does a great job! Only negative is with the install, the instructions were a little vague as to how to do the vent system, otherwise install was a snap! Recommend watching the you tube video on installation, makes it so much easier.

Only 1 month old but performing well. More power than my old counter top model. If you are handy install is easy. You must pay attention to measurements though if matching a existing rear vent. The template/mounting bracket is a bit flimsy and mine was bent/warped inside the packing material. Whirlpool should make the vent covers you have to move and replace for roof/wall vent out of a thicker metal and maybe add a gasket material. I had to bend mine slightly to make them seal the openings to stop air leakage from the top of the unit. I will probably add some anyway as a small amount of exhaust still seeps by. The lights still need to be improved as the LED it has is not bright enough on high to see the cooktop well. I added LED strip lights to brighten. The fan with 4 speeds does a really good job even pulling smoke/steam from the front burner area. On high it is not much louder than the old Broan hood it replaced. The sounds from the unit are also low volume even when set to loudest so have to watch your timer.
