This product requires sanding between coats. So, edges of boards or detail work becomes bare when the required sanding is done between coats. If you don't sand, the next coat orange peels. A flat table top might be a good use for this stain. Otherwise, avoid using this product.

Wow. What a time saver. Easy application and professional finish. I am an amateur refinisher at best. This product made me look like I knew what I was doing

good coverage and smooth finish when completed.

Varathane Stain & Poly was the perfect choice for me. I've never stained anything before and found this stain with the polycoat included that made it so easy. The results were outstanding! One to two coats made an outdated buffet/server look completely new and gorgeous with rich color. Matches our new table exactly. Highly recommend this product for first time do-it-yourselfers!

The Kona stain worked great. The application was smooth and thec clean up was easy.

Dries fast, covers good, color great. Will use again soon.

I want to make a change in my front bathroom, a few hours Saturday morning sanding, and 2 coats later my manufacturer vanity had a new life.

The Stain PLUS poly doesn't absorb evenly into my older oak floors...worked fine on fir floors. We had to return and replace w/ KONA STAIN ONLY for an even finish.

I used 4 coats for my preferred look. Applied the stain with a foam brush. Very happy with the end result!

I have done many paint and stain projects and this is the first time I have used this brand. It is by far the best stain I have ever used. It goes on well, dries very quickly and one of the best points is that the color of the stain on the can is EXACT. Great product

I was very impressed with the workability of this product. I have worked with other "1 Step" finish products in the past and have been somewhat disappointed with the results. As long as one stays cognizant of keeping a wet edge with this product, they will end up with a quality finish in half the time. This product dries very smooth after just 1 sand seal between coats. Great Product!

Love the color of this stain. It's the perfect hue to go with any color combo you might have in your home.

After four coats, there are still some places that need more attention (the label advertises 2-3 coats should do the trick). Also, some of the coats started to look very watery towards the end.

It's an all in one! Dries quick and there's no bad lingering scent or smell.

We went from a 'honey' finish to a dark finish. Results were very good; however after weeks, small scratches in the finish were appearing. A separate poly coat is still needed for protection.

I put the stain/poly on after following all of the instructions to a "T" and it did not absorb, nor create a "shine" as expected. When it did absorb, it was much lighter than what I was expecting. I used this product on 3 different types of wood (birch, maple, and oak) with the same poor results.

This product, in my opinion, reaffirms what people keep telling me about "2 in 1" products: Pick one. Are you staining? Are you urethaning/varnishing? Same as a "clean and wax" product. Choose. I picked this up to see if the technology had changed in the 15 years since I last tried a 2-in-1. No luck. Stain quality was terrible, urethane quality mediocre. Either do it it in 2 steps, or don't do it.
