A: We are here to help, Michele! To ensure the best results with Rust-Oleum Varathane Stain and Polyurethane, you will want to ensure the wood putty is stainable or paintable. If the putty is non-hardening, it may not be able to accept a topcoat.

A: Thank you for reaching out. Irina. Rust-Oleum Varathane Stain + Poly can be applied to railings, but you will need to remove the previous finish first by stripping or sanding so this product can penetrate and dry properly. - Rust-Oleum Product Support 5

A: Thank you for reaching out! While Rust-Oleum Varathane Stain and Polyurethane in One is great for interior wood surfaces, it is not a floor-grade coating and will not withstand foot traffic, even with a floor polyurethane over it. To ensure the best results, we recommend removing the product, staining the floor with a suitable stain and then topcoating with Rust-Oleum Varathane Polyurethane for Floors.

A: Hello Joe,
Laminate flooring is typically not a flooring that you would stain as the surface is a very then veneer. If you were to apply stain there would be nothing for the stain to sink into. I hope this helps.
Cheers,
Chris

A: Happy to help, Joe! Rust-Oleum Varathane Stain and Polyurethane is not recommended for application to a floor. Laminate flooring can be also difficult to refinish as the veneer over the pressed wood is not thick enough to properly prepare through sanding.
