Toto makes a great bidet. The auto-open cover is nice and there is a button on the control panel to lift the seat as well, and not a very expensive upgrade over the other model. This one also have bowl light and outside light both with auto-on when you approach.

The Toto 550e is everything we expected it to be. The seat and water is as warm as you would like as soon as you sir down. The installation was really easy with very good instructions in multiple languages. Pick up at the store was quick and easy. I highly recommend this Bidet.

This is our 2nd Toto S550e, one in each of two homes. We got lucky with the first purchase, the seat fit on our existing toilet perfectly. Not so the second one. This seat does not fit on all elongated toilets, so check it out before you buy. This second project involved finding a new toilet that would fit where the original one was and that the seat would fit, no small undertaking. As you can surmise, since we bought a second S550e, we do like the product.

Since living in Japan for 7 years these TOTO units are a “must have” for our family. The latest models (500/550) are excellent and the purchase experience at Home Depot makes owning them easy and convenient. btw; Toto U.S. service center is located in Georgia so parts and repair is nearby.

            Installation in Kohler toilets
I installed a Toto S550e Washlet bidet toilet seat in two bathrooms with identical Kohler toilets in August, 2020, and it continues to work as well as when first installed ten months ago. In one toilet, the rubber bushings were difficult to push into the toilet's bolt holes, but they did at least fit. In the second toilet, the bushings were about 1 mm too wide to fit at all. Considering that the toilets were nominally identical, this doesn't speak well for Kohler's quality control, and may explain the disagreement among commenters re. ability to perform installation in Kohler toilets. To get the rubber bushings through the second toilet's bolt holes, I used a flat file to reduce the diameter of the final 1/2" of the rubber bushings - just the part holding the machine nut - until the bushing diameter was just small enough to allow inserting its first 1/2" into a bolt hole. I then slid a Phillips head screwdriver into the top of the bushing, and used it to push down hard against the embedded machine nut until the bushing popped in. It took a significant amount of force to do this. Be careful not to push down on the machine nut with anything narrow enough to slip inside it and possibly damage its threads. This might not be a good approach if the diameter mismatch between the bushings and bolt holes is more than 1 mm, as removing too much rubber from around an embedded machine nut might result in the machine nut breaking free of the bushing, ruining it. When the diameter mismatch is small, however, this approach is far preferable to enlarging the porcelain bolt holes with a diamond drill, as others have suggested. My connections to the water supply T-connector were initially leaky. I stopped the leaks by disassembling and reassembling the plumbing parts, paying attention to the order of assembly. A non-obvious aspect entailed altogether detaching the water supply line - in my case, a 9" braided stainless flexline with a small metal compression fitting at the end that attaches to the stop valve. The flexline is actually quite stiff, and when attached to the stop valve pulled back at me off-angle and with enough force to prevent me from perfectly aligning the threaded parts. With all plumbing parts initially disconnected (i.e., with the T-connector disconnected from the toilet tank and flexline, and with the flexline disconnected from the stop valve): Step one: sitting in a comfortable chair, I threaded the T-connector onto the flexline, on and off and on again, slowly, over and over, until I was certain the threads were perfectly aligned. Hand tighten; then an additional part turn with two wrenches to lock the two pieces together. Step two: scrunched up on the floor in the tiny space between toilet and bathroom wall. Uncomfortable, but at least with no resistance from the flexline (as it's disconnected from the stop valve) turning the T-connector (with flexline attached) onto the fitting at the bottom of the toilet tank. As the T-connector is turned, the flexline is free to rotate and move also, as its far end isn't attached to anything. Again - threading the two pieces together, backing them off, then back on again, until I'm as sure as I can be that the threads are perfectly aligned. Then after hand-tightening, a final part turn with a wrench. Step three: reattach the flexline compression nut at the stop valve, turning it first by hand then with the wrench, the all-metal threads engaging smoothly and easily without alignment as an issue. Step four: attach the plastic water line from the Toto seat to the T-connector - an easy and issue-free connection between two Toto parts. The entire assembly is now leak-free.

I've tried several luxury bidets including the BB2200, Brondell Swash1400 , A8, Kohler Novita, and a couple other lesser ones. I kept wishing I could combine features from each of them into one, which brings me to this Toto bidet. It's by far the best one available on the market without Spending thousands on an entire toilet Bidet combination system. The features that were important to me were spray pressure not being too narrow like the BB 2200 , night lights actually lighting the bowl instead of a little light on the outside (which does absolutely nothing but act as any plug-in night light would), different levels of water temperature as well as spray pressures, a hybrid heater (so no one is shocked with initial water being cold, different user settings, a remote with digital program settings. Even more so, the thing that's incredibly impressive with this particular bidet is it's exclusive e-water feature. There's a unit that just came out that cleans your toilet using e-water, but the unit alone is almost $200 and requires cartridges to be repurchased regularly. This Toto bidet keeps the toilet as clean as possible with a spray of e-water before and after each use. Oh, I forgot, it has Auto open and close lid and/or seat . I have two Toto bidets and the one downstairs is used more by men/boys therefore the lid and seat setting is on so it opens when someone approaches the toilet via the built-in sensor. The one upstairs is used more by females therefore I've turned the sensors off. I truly can't say enough about this bidet other than, as weird as it sounds, it really has been a life-changing part of each day. When my Daughter was a baby , I used to wash her off under the faucet each time I'd change her. People questioned why I went out of my way to do so but, while I didn't feel it was that extra, I explained to them if they accidentally got baby poop on their arm or hands, they wouldn't just simply wipe it off with a baby wipe, they'd wash their hands or arms. Same concept goes for your little one's diaper area. That's exactly how diaper rashes start,..from bacteria and feces not being completely cleaned off, (or left on too long) which baby wipes can't possibly do thoroughly. This bidet gives me the same clean security that all of us are actually clean as opposed to just wiped off. While this one is a bit more expensive, it's pointless settling for something less, believe me, I tried! THE ONLY COMPLAINT is that the bidet material is far too soft in the sense that it gets scratched quite easily during cleanings. I now have a scratch that drives me nuts, but I still couldn't be happier with this bidet!

TOTO S550e Washlet Electric Bidet Seat for Elongated Tiolet with Classic Lid in White is wonderful. I do not know how I did without this in my house for so long. One of the best additions along with the Kohler Belello 2-Piece 1.28 GPF Single Flush Elongated Tiolet in White. Compliments my bathroom and its residents. Got it put in at the time of Covid-19 when there was a toilet paper shortage so it was perfect. The remote allows you so many features just as it is described. Opening and Closing of the Toilet is an absolute plus. Sitting on a regular tiolet makes you realize how lucky you are. Purchasing the TOTO S550e Contemporary Lid for my other bathroom. Highly recommend.
