After initially installing a DHC 10.2 for a client and their being disappointed with the temperature of the output (due to their cold well water,) I installed the DHC-E 12 and the clients are ecstatic with the performance of this heater. It is installed and services a lavatory sink and a shower in an 'outhouse' at a recreational property.

Very limited use
Beware that all tankless water heaters are severly limited because they have to balance temperature against water volume. The higher the temperature or longer the run between heater and faucet, the less water volume can be heated. As a result, water pressure will suffer. This is a point of use product which means it has to be located next to the faucet. It cannot heat enough water for a household (i.e., where the hot water has to pass through any length of pipe) nor is it adequate for use in a shower unless you like low water volume. Ideally, this is best suited for a kitchen or bathroom sink with an aerator.

If you set the temp at the midpoint (120 degrees) the water pressure can overcome the heating element and I'm on a well. The water comes out hot then alternates hot to cold. if you turn on only the hot faucet it works fine. This is on a bathroom sink, if you're using this for a shower I'm sure you'll need to set the thermostat to a much higher setting.

Works like a champ...
The kitchen sink took way too long to even start gettin' warm, so the plumber disconnected that line and connected the new heater, and a Y-valve on the cold water line. The electrician had to climb up in the attic and run some very thick copper wire back to the fuse box. Those two installers cost close to double the cost of the heater itself. But once all that was over, now we're living in luxury with near instant hot water ! I have to remind everyone to not overuse because it really sucks some juice, when in use ! Good news is the rest of the time, about 95% or more, not a drop of power is being used, so I think for us it is slightly more economical than the old way, which barely worked. The water it plenty hot and seemingly endless. The electrician and plumber were true professionals and worth the money to have it done right. Wife and I are very satisfied !

Very Impressed
Installation was easy. Just followed the directions. Only issue I encountered was tightening the connections to the heater. They have a metal piece which is locked over the intake connector and the water out connector. It is supposed to keep the torque from transfering to the unit itsself. Didn't do a very good job of that. I had to back it up with an open ended wrench. All in all a good product. Much better than the one I bought ten years ago (not the same brand). Provides plenty of hot water for our pool house bathroon with a shower.

It has saved me money in lower electric bills
This product was easy to install, I have knowledge of plumbing and electrical skills. My electric bill has been slightly lower every month since this has been installed. It isn't large reduction, however it is only used for dishwasher (2-3) a week, and hot water from kitchen sink. Best savings, not heating hot water while on vacation.

Provides a good hot water source.
This is an attempt to reduce the oil bill. The burner runs frequently during the summer just keeping the tank up to temperature. It remains to be seen what the actual costs are of demand electric use versus continuously warm oil heating.
An interesting oscillation occurs when the electric water heater is trying to regulate the temperature at the same time the shower valve is trying to control it. Increasing flow solves the problem.
It was installed as a whole house supply connected with flex hoses and a stove cord.

Worked like a charm
I used this as a supplemental heater for an upstairs bathroom. There was a lag time when the hot water kicked in from a heating coil on my oil fired heater. I installed this unit in line with the hot water feed, it heats the water for the shower and a sink as needed and then shuts off when not needed. Works like a charm for this purpose, the water for the shower is hot for the entire time in the shower. The unit was easy to install except you need to know that if you are going to use stainless steel flex hose that you need adopters to go from 1/2" IPT to 3/4" GH or garden hose thread. No problem, they carry the adopters in the plumbing section at Home Depot. Used Shark Bite connectors, the adopters and the whole thing took about an hour to install, the wire taking the longest time. Works perfect for this supplemental application.

Seems like a good heater
This water heater is easy to install, well designed, and has great features. Haven't used it enough to know how satisfied we will be with the performance/size for the application. I recommend it to others.

Love it.
Just installed 2 of these in our cabin this past week and they worked very well. The cabin is on a well and the incoming water is very cold so I put them in series iseries in order to get a good flow.

Not enough hot water for a small house
We installed product in a small house, 1 bath( shower, toilet, sink) & a kitchen. The research I did said it would keep up with demand in a small unit. It did for a while, but as the weather turned colder, the tank could not keep up. We ended up taking this unit out & putting back a regular hot h20 tank.

Excellent
Shower is at opposite side of the house from our water heater. It took too long to get warm water to the shower. With this system, the water heats up when we need it. Although we only installed it a month ago, we love it.

Soo far so good
I use hot water for dishes and shower 2gal a min is plenty I would say a bath or hot water cloth washing would require a larger unit or more tha 2 people other wise I love it. I also put an inline filter seeing I'm on we'll water.

Well Built & Functions As Described
I bought this unit and installed in our small church. We use it to heat water for two restroom hand wash lavs and one kitchen sink. The unit is able to supply all three outlets with ample hot water simultaneously. Installation was easy and straight forward. I would highly recommend this unit to anyone with the need to heat water for a few low flow water outlets.

Very Good Prouct
Have only had installed for a week, but it operates fine. Temp will fluctuate as incoming water temp changes, but no serious problem. It may require a minor adjustment to hot water knob after a few seconds and incoming water temp stabilizes.
