This sander is not cheap one. How ever it helps me so much. I like its filter as well as 1 1/2 in dust collection port. I can connect my VAC to this port. Very clean while sanding. Recommend for DIY works.

disappointed
I am very disappointed because the dusk canister will not stay attached when the sander is running. Cannot find anything on line on how to fix or correct this problem. If it wasn't for this problem would give it a higher rating.

Great little sander!
Easy to use, the little vacuum attached reduced the dust, though there was still some in the air. Glad I made the purchase.

Great buy
This is my 3rd random orbital sander. The first one lasted for years so I bought the newer model which broke down in a few months and took weeks to get replacement parts. When I saw the Skil in the store I was drawn to the dust collection system and the price. When my second sander quit, I ordered a Skil on line and received it very quickly. My first impression on opening the box was "this thing is heavy" I used it today for the first time. It ran very smooth and used half the discs that my previous sanders did for the same job. I didn't notice the extra weight and the job went quickly. The dust collector worked well and I didn't have to use a dust mask (though I probably should) on a hot summer day. With the ability to connect my vacuum, I will be able to use it in the house in the winter, when I can't work outside.

Very Nice and Easy to Use
I bought an older house, 40 years old, and the interior trim, cabinets and doors had all been previously stained. I received several quotes but they were $2,000.00 and up. I decided that since I could not afford to contract the work I would attempt it myself. After research and a lot of determination I attempted to do it myself. The orbital sander received excellent reviews plus it didn't put saw dust everywhere. After using it on several door and the bathroom cabinet I have been very impressed with the ease of use and the quality. I am looking forward to tackling my kitchen cabinets but could not do it without a decent quality sander. I strongly recommend it, even my boyfriend was impressed with the high quality for the price.

Skil orbital sander
I am building a cedar strip canoe and needed a good orbital sander for the job. The Skil sander has a rubber guard around the edge which is a great added feature to prevent bangs on the thin wood strips at the bow and stern. It is so easy to take off a used disc and change to a new one. I sand down old steel bicycle frames too. I have several other types of sanders, but this is a terrific new tool for my use!

Does the Job
I bought this sander to replace a cheaper model. The overall feel is great. The dust collector basket is easy to empty. Well worth the extra $20.

fits in the palm of my hand
I bought this to use while making picture frames. It has proven to be easy to use on small areas and in multiple positions with one hand. Since I work in a small area in the garage, the dust filter is a must. Plus, the cost/benefit ratio is excellent.

You get what you pay for
I would say that this is an average sander. The disc makes it hard to get in corners, so do not expect to use it inside of preexisting projects. When a disc is on the sander, there is an indention in the middle of the platform that typically does not see any sanding use resulting in a small portion of the sand paper that is not used. Other than that, it does quality work so long as you have the right sand paper for the job.

GREAT sanding dust control
Bought this for my wife. She does a lot of sanding on the woodwork we are redoing. Have had two other sanders that worked okay, but, dust everywhere. Almost no dust with this unit. It sands well and REALLY holds onto the dust. It will pack so much dust into the filter housing that you have to work to get it out, nice problem to have.

No bag included.
This is my first purchase of a disc sander. Seems to work well, but does not include a bag, which was a factor in my purchase decision.

Just another Run of the Mill Sander
I've had this sander for a couple of years but haven't used it a whole lot. The hook and loop pad did not last very long at all. After only a few hours of sanding, the pad will not hold a sanding disk. The cost of replacing the pad is almost as much as a new sander (including shipping). Also, the clips holding the filter broke off after a few times of removing the filter for cleaning. Plastic! What can you expect! I'm not impressed. The old adage applies, "You get what you pay for"!

not a great experience
Bought this in the last 3 or so weeks. Clip on one side of of dust cup already broke off. now center of of orbiting pad is breaking off from motor so will be needed to be replaced. Mind you this is the pressure control model that alerts you if you press to hard on the sander always kept it in the green. not for anyone beyond a average wood worker.

Hook and loop pad doesn't hold sandpaper discs.
This tool was a let down. After using it for just a handful of projects, the hook and loop pad was nonfunctional, not holding brand new sandpaper discs in place. Even when the pad was perfectly clean, the sandpaper discs went flying off. Pretty bummed about this purchase.

Good sander for the price
It does a great job on soft woods. I have not tried on hardwood yet. It is kind of noisy and not real easy on the hands as far as vibration goes but, for $40 it's not bad. The dust collector does a pretty good job. The pressure meter is a nice feature. If you are expecting to get a bag with it as stated in the title description, forget it. That must be a Home Depot error.

Good while it lasted
I've had this sander for about a year. Used for little projects here and there. Today while sanding some plywood , a sudden smell of burning, a loud pop and three of the four screws in the bottom got hot enough to burn the sandpaper. They fell out after removing the sandpaper and just like that we are done. I did get a year out of it , by todays standards (where things seem to be engineered to fail 3 hours after the warranty is up) so I should be happy with that. I will probably look to the older tools from here on out. Bottom line is , if you need a great sander for roughly a year, then here it is. I would recommend this to a friend , but with that warning.

Works like a charm. I bought this for a house project. Smooth even sanding and does not damage material surface. And the canister does a great job of keeping the work area clean. I would recommend this product.

Does the job
I sanded my deck(approx 260 sq ft) that was weathered, but unfinished.
Used 4 80 grit sanding discs which took about 3-1/2 hours. I hooked my shop vac up to the dust
extraction port which worked pretty well. I read the directions afterwards which recommended a
anti-static vacuum hose.Mine wasn't, which I'm sure contributed to the 3 or 4 zaps I got when I
touched the shop vac while sanding
